Chapter 1087: Chapter 1304: Melmetal And Steelix

After about half a day, Metagross finally returned.

"How was the haul?"

Julian stretched lazily. While waiting for Metagross, he had taken a short nap.

"Meta~"

Metagross placed eight items in front of Julian.

Seeing them, Julian's eyes instantly lit up. Of the eight items, six were Ultimate treasures, and the other two were World-class treasures.

"Four of them are Ice-type."

After using the Probing Eyes to examine the effects and Types of all eight treasures, Julian felt somewhat disappointed.

He didn't have any Ice-type Pokémon.

Half of these eight treasures were for Ice-type Pokémon, and one of them was even a World-class-grade Ice-type held item.

[Black Ice: Increases the power of Ice-type moves by 40%, grants a 100% chance to inflict Freeze, and reduces Fire-type damage by 20% (for Ice-type Pokémon only)]

The boost was undeniably impressive—worthy of being called a World-class treasure. Unfortunately, it was of no use to Julian at the moment, unless he caught an Ice-type Pokémon in the future.

[Impact Fist Berry: Increases the power of punching moves by 80% and vibration damage by 50% (the boost can stack)]

These were the effects of the two World-class treasures.

As for the other six treasures, there was no need to go through them one by one.

Looking at the Impact Fist Berry in his hand, Julian released Melmetal and handed the item over.

"Mel?"

Melmetal stared at the treasure in disbelief, as if asking Julian whether it was really meant for it.

After all, this treasure seemed more suitable for Lucario than for itself.

"It's yours," Julian smiled. "You and Steelix have been working pretty hard lately."

During the battle against the Master, Melmetal and Steelix had been so weak compared to the others that they couldn't even be considered support.

Their lack of strength had allowed their trainer to fall into danger.

So during this period, these two usually slacker-type Pokémon had finally found the motivation to train.

At the very least, Julian was fairly satisfied with the recent efforts of these two guys.

Patting Steelix's Poké Ball, Julian said, "Don't worry, two of these Ultimate treasures are for you."

Steelix's Poké Ball gently shook.

These two Ultimate treasures were indeed quite suitable for Steelix.

[Iron Armor: Increases Defense by 25%, increases rebound damage by 10%, and boosts the power of Iron Defense and Harden by 60%.]

[Longtail Berry: Doubles the power of tail-based attacks and increases tail hardness by 200%.]

Among Julian's Pokémon, Steelix and Milotic both had long, serpentine body types. So when using Iron Tail, this kind of elongated physique produced greater power than that of non-elongated Pokémon.

Steelix was Steel-type, so the Longtail Berry suited it far better than it would Milotic.

As for Milotic, it would just have to wait until next time, when another suitable treasure came along. And during that battle, Milotic's performance had genuinely surprised Julian.

The way it ferociously attacked its opponent even after its body had been bitten through had shaken off its label as a mere beauty.

Though it was never just a pretty face to begin with, but the public had always viewed Milotic as little more than a decorative figure in Julian's team.

Even though Milotic was a Champion-level Pokémon, its charm was simply too high, so even if it wasn't just there for the aesthetics, it was treated like one anyway.

After watching Melmetal and Steelix swallow the World-class treasure and the two Ultimate treasures respectively, Julian prepared to recall them into their Poké Balls.

But the two of them dodged the red beam shot from the Poké Balls.

"What? You want to stay outside a little longer?"

Julian asked, puzzled. Normally, when at home, he let all of his Pokémon roam freely around the backyard, so it wasn't as though they spent that much time inside the Poké Ball.

The two Pokémon quickly indicated that it wasn't that they didn't want to return to their Poké Balls—they just didn't want to leave the secret realm so soon.

"Why?"

Julian was even more confused.

Melmetal: "Because I want to show off."

Steelix nodded gravely in agreement.

'Show off?'

Julian was taken aback for a moment, but he quickly understood what they meant and his expression began to turn peculiar.

He thought about how every time he entered the Primal Secret Realm, a Pokémon would break through to the Champion tier by the time he left.

Clearly, Melmetal and Steelix wanted to wait until they were on the verge of becoming Champions before going out.

Both of them were already at the peak of the Pseudo-Champion tier, just one step away from becoming Champions.

And now that Melmetal had consumed a World-class treasure and Steelix had consumed two Ultimate treasures, they could clearly feel an enormous amount of energy building inside their bodies.

At this rate, both of them would likely break through to the Champion tier within a few hours.

But if their trainer left now, then when they finally became Champions, it would happen back at home—and then who would be there to see it?

After finally reaching the Champion tier, not being able to show off even once would leave them feeling somewhat unwilling.

Besides, look at Dragonite, Lucario, and Arcanine—hadn't they all gone out and showed off? So now that it was their turn, they wanted to show off too.

Julian couldn't help but laugh at that reasoning.

But he was very indulgent toward his Pokémon, so without a second thought, he agreed.

Meanwhile, Arcanine looked at Melmetal and Steelix with envy.

Right now, it was too weak—it couldn't even beat Bisharp, that little junior anymore. 'When would I finally return to Champion-level?'

Zeraora wore a similarly envious expression. At least Arcanine had once been a Champion, but it was still stuck at the peak of the Elite-level. Not even a Pseudo-Champion yet.

And given Julian's current opponents, at its level, it couldn't even qualify as a benchwarmer.

Among Julian's team, its strength ranked third from the bottom—only stronger than the level-reset Arcanine and Bisharp.

In terms of level alone, even Magearna, who had just entered the early-stage Pseudo-Champion level, was a bit higher than it.

This made Zeraora, who had always loved to show off, extremely uncomfortable.

Although it knew that ever since following Julian, its level had increased at an incredible pace—something that would normally make it very happy—it couldn't help comparing itself to Julian's other Pokémon.

What kind of teammates did it have? If they weren't Champions, they were First-class Legendaries. And the rest were all Pseudo-Champions.

Zeraora was a Mythical Pokémon, yet here it barely felt special at all.

So it desperately wanted to increase its strength.

It stared at Julian with burning eyes.

"I don't have any candies suitable for you right now," Julian said calmly.

As Julian's strength continued to grow, the System rarely rewarded Elite-level Rare Candies anymore, so naturally, Zeraora had never gotten to taste one.

But it had seen its companions eat them—one candy, one level up, no damage to foundation or potential. Absolutely miraculous.

No wonder they were called Rare Candies.

Yet it had never tasted one itself.

Arcanine had said that the candy was bitter, but Zeraora didn't believe it.

"If you get one suitable for me, will you give it to me?" Zeraora asked.

Julian nodded.

Getting an affirmative answer from Julian, Zeraora's face immediately brightened.

"After all, you're currently the only one still at the Elite tier. So if I get any Elite-level Rare Candies, they could only go to you."

Zeraora: ( ̄^ ̄)
