Chapter 891: Chapter 1108: University

Although the Bennett family was only a mid-tier family in Lake City, they had several business dealings with the Walker Group, and very close ones at that.

Quite a few outside families had even lowered their own profit margins in hopes of snatching those cooperative projects from the Bennett family, but the Walker Group had simply refused.

From that alone, it was clear that the Bennetts and Walkers shared a deeper relationship.

Since the exact nature of that relationship wasn't publicly known, most families tended to treat the Bennett family with a certain degree of respect.

Ever since Robert was admitted to Apollo Hospital, the hospital's management had been paying close attention.

First, because Robert had made several significant donations to Apollo Hospital.

Second, because Robert was a well-known businessman in Lake City, successfully treating him would bring considerable benefits to Apollo Hospital as well.

Based on these two points, Apollo Hospital naturally treated Robert with the utmost care.

And now, that level of care was about to be elevated again—directly to the highest tier.

Because Champion Walker had personally come to visit Robert and had even given Robert's attending physician, Ryan, four Blood Muscle Berries. This clearly demonstrated just how much he valued Robert.

According to a certain nurse, Champion Walker had an ambiguous relationship with Robert's daughter.

The hospital's higher-ups had all met Robert's daughter, Haley. She was indeed a beautiful girl with an excellent figure and also a top student at Lake University.

"How can this be? Didn't they say Champion Walker liked men? If that's the case, then I have no chance."

A certain male doctor looked utterly disappointed.

His expression made his colleagues instinctively take several steps back.

"Wait, seriously? You like men?"

"Of course! But now I don't like Champion Walker anymore—I like you."

"Get lost!"

The doctors chatted about Julian's gossip.

The nurses were no exception. Whether married or unmarried, their expressions all looked like they had just gone through heartbreak.

How could their idol have a girlfriend? He should stay single forever!

But even if he did have one, he could always have a second, or a third... they wouldn't even mind being the thirteenth!

"Julian, I really owe you this time."

The next day, Robert had already woken up. After learning what had happened from Haley, he expressed his gratitude to Julian, who had come to visit him.

"Uncle, given the relationship between our families, please don't be so polite."

"My dad's been in the Primal Secret Realm recently, so he doesn't know about this yet, and mom said she'll come visit you later," Julian said.

"No need to trouble her. It's enough that you came to see me."

Robert shook his head. His condition had already improved a lot. If nothing unexpected happened, the surgery could be performed tomorrow.

"Brother Julian, you're here!"

Haley had gone out to get food. When she walked back into the ward and saw Julian already there, she happily placed the lunchbox by the bedside and affectionately wrapped her arms around Julian's.

Although Robert was feeling much better, he still had an IV drip attached and needed someone to feed him. He looked at the lunchbox in front of him—and then at his daughter clinging to Julian's arm.

The old father's heart felt a twinge of bittersweet sorrow, mixed with the realization that his little girl had truly grown up.

"Alright, stop clinging to Julian. You're not a little kid anymore," Robert said with a smile.

Because of the close friendship between Tina and Sarah, Haley had followed Julian around since she was a toddler, until the Bennett family moved to Maplia for business reasons. And they had only returned in recent years.

Although nearly a decade of separation had initially made the bond between Julian and Haley a bit awkward, but after spending some time together, childhood memories resurfaced, and their connection quickly warmed up again.

Julian still remembered when they first returned to the country—he had to drag Haley out of a bar, where she was hanging out with some guy with dyed hair, and that guy had ended up getting a beating from Julian.

"Dad, I'm still young! And besides, this is Brother Julian—not some stranger. What's wrong with me holding his arm? So many girls at my university treat Brother Julian as their dream man!"

"Brother Julian is definitely the dream of millions of girls in Drakoria!"

Haley said proudly, tightening her grip around Julian's arm. The elasticity became even more pronounced, leaving Julian in an awkward position—pulling his arm away felt wrong, but leaving it there felt wrong too.

"So, which university are you attending now? Imperial Capital?"

For the past two years, Julian had spent most of his time in the Primal Secret Realm, so he wasn't clear about Haley's recent situation.

He hadn't actively asked about it on his phone either.

Haley looked a bit embarrassed. Julian could clearly feel her grip on his arm loosen slightly.

Robert, on the other hand, cut in bluntly, "Does she have what it takes to be your junior? Right now, she's just an ordinary student in the Steel-type Department at Lake University."

Lake University had always been ranked among the top five institutions. Though naturally, it fell a bit short of the long-standing number one, Imperial Capital University.

Still, it remained a dream university for countless students.

Being able to get into Lake University, even if it was just the regular class, Haley was still remarkably outstanding.

"So close, Brother Julian, I was so close!"

Haley pressed her thumb against her index finger, indicating just how narrow the margin had been.

"Close? You were over thirty points short—that's not 'close.'"

As Haley was still explaining, Robert had already blown her lie out of the water. This made Haley so angry she stomped her foot and huffed, "Dad, even in your condition, can't you just keep your mouth shut for once?"

"How is thirty points not close? If I'd just gotten one more major question right—or even just a few multiple-choice questions—I would've made it!"

That sounded reasonable in theory, but in practice it was quite difficult.

"Haley, why don't you feed uncle? The food's getting cold."

Julian pointed to the lunchbox by the bedside. Robert hadn't eaten lunch yet.

"Dad, you look like you're in good shape. Skipping one meal shouldn't be a big deal."

Haley pouted. Women held grudges—it was in their nature—and Haley was no exception, especially since her own father had just exposed her in front of Julian.

Hearing that, Robert felt as though his own daughter had just stuck a knife in his heart.

"Uncle, if there's nothing else, I should get going."

Julian didn't want to get caught in the crossfire of this father-daughter squabble. Checking the time, he figured it was about time to leave.

"Huh? Brother Julian, you're leaving already? I just got here!"

Haley looked at him reluctantly.

"Julian has important things to do, unlike someone who's at the bottom of the regular class. From now on, don't go around saying you know Julian—he can't afford the embarrassment," Robert said.

Hearing that, Haley gritted her teeth in anger: "Believe it or not, I'll pull out your support right now and shut you up!"

It was originally just an internet meme, but Haley now looked like she might actually turn it into reality.

Robert immediately played along, clamping his mouth shut and gesturing that he'd stop talking.
