Chapter 893: Chapter 1110: Makeup
Chapter 893: Chapter 1110: Makeup
"Champion Walker, we need to do your makeup."
In the preparation room backstage, Julian, the special guest for the Grand Festival Finals, was sitting in the room playing games with Celebi and Jirachi.
Since the door was open, he heard someone calling him.
Looking up, he saw two girls holding makeup kits, staring at him with curious and excited expressions, their tone a little nervous.
The hands holding the makeup tools were clearly gripping them a little too tightly.
"Makeup? Let me finish this round first—about three minutes, and we can destroy their crystal," Julian said, glancing at them before immediately turning his attention back to his phone screen.
The two girls nodded. Seeing that Julian really was as approachable as the rumors said, they grew a little bolder and walked over to him, watching him play Pokémon Glory.
Pokémon Glory was a national-level game, so many people played it—especially young people. Even those who didn't play had at least heard of it.
The two girls also enjoyed playing a few rounds of Pokémon Glory in their free time. Though their skills were limited, their game sense wasn't bad.
Seeing that three of Julian's team's high ground turrets had already been destroyed, the two girls exchanged glances. One of them couldn't help but ask, "Champion Walker, were you saying your own team's crystal will be destroyed in three minutes?"
"How could that be? Don't you know what a comeback is? I have a feeling that within three minutes, we'll turn the tables and wipe them out in a team fight," Julian said excitedly, his fingers practically sparking against the phone screen.
A comeback and counter-kill situation was always possible.
But the chances of it happening here were incredibly low.
The enemy team hadn't lost a single turret.
And their jungler and ADC had the highest economy in the game, far surpassing the highest on Julian's team.
Unless the enemy team went AFK, there was no way Julian's team could turn this around.
"Julian, go in! Go in! Jirachi and I are tanking in front—hey, blockhead, why are you running?!"
Celebi shouted.
"Ah, Champion Walker, you abandoned your teammates!"
One of the girls exclaimed as she watched Celebi and Jirachi charge into the enemy camp and manage to lock down four opponents before getting focused down and quickly killed.
But all of the enemy team's skills were now on cooldown.
Even with just Julian and the other two teammates, this could have been a good opportunity to strike.
But Julian, as the ADC, didn't even attack—he just ran away.
The other two teammates did engage, but they barely dealt any damage and were quickly taken down by the enemy team's basic attacks.
Celebi glared at Julian angrily. If it weren't for the fact that it couldn't bear to smash the phone in its hands, it would have thrown it at his face already.
Jirachi wore the exact same expression.
It was even tempted to make a wish right now—wishing it had never met this guy.
Julian, on the other hand, shamelessly opened the voice chat and said, "Stop feeding, will you? How am I supposed to carry if you keep feeding like this?"
Then he switched to all-chat and sent a message:
"My teammates are too trash, I can't carry this."
He was really playing both sides—blaming others while acting like the victim.
And with his 1/6/3 KDA, where did he even get the nerve to say that?
At this moment, the two girls discovered another one of Julian's "strengths": his shamelessness.
Yet this behavior made him feel even more human.
That might sound like an insult, but it really wasn't.
Given Julian's current achievements and status, calling him a god among men wouldn't be an exaggeration.
But instead of being distant and unapproachable, he was just like an ordinary person—laughing, joking, getting angry, playing games badly, and being terrible at them.
This kind of down-to-earth Julian was even more captivating.
Three minutes later—
Looking at the crystal that had just exploded on his screen, Julian ignored Celebi and Jirachi, who were tugging at his hair, and turned to the two girls.
"Alright, let's start the makeup."
But the girls pointed at the two little ones on his head—with them pulling his hair, there was no way they could apply makeup.
Julian grabbed the two and casually tossed them aside.
Naturally, they weren't satisfied and immediately flew back toward him. But midway, Julian said, "I'll transfer you each a hundred bucks. Let's call it you two throwing the game on me, okay?"
Hearing that, the two immediately stopped in their tracks.
"Then Jirachi and I forgive you."
"Then Celebi and I forgive you."
They raised their chins, trying hard to maintain a calm expression—but the corners of their mouths were lifted far too obviously.
With the two little troublemakers no longer interfering, the girls quickly finished Julian's makeup.
Since Julian had great skin to begin with, they only needed to do a little touch-up before finishing.
They looked at him with bright, fluttering eyes.
Looking at himself in the mirror, Julian nodded with satisfaction. "I'm so handsome I don't even have competition anymore. Don't you two agree?"
"Yes, yes!"
Celebi and Jirachi, the two little lackeys, nodded in unison. They had just received a hundred bucks from him, so they had to perform well—maybe another hundred would come their way if they played their cards right.
"Champion Walker is the most handsome in the world!"
"Champion Walker, I love you!"
The two girls chimed in together.
Julian grinned smugly, grabbed the custom-tailored suit from the nearby table, and walked into the changing room.
About five minutes later, he stepped out.
As the saying went, clothes made the man. Julian usually wore casual clothes and rarely dressed formally.
Now, wearing a bespoke suit tailored specifically for him, his entire aura seemed to rise several levels.
The two girls had to hold onto each other for support—otherwise, they might have been completely swept off their feet by his presence.
One of them blurted out eagerly, "Champion Walker, can I take a photo with you?"
"Me too!"
The other quickly added.
"Of course," Julian nodded. If there had been dozens of people, he probably would've slipped away—but just two? No problem.
After taking the photos, Julian checked the time and said, "It's about time. I'll head out now."
"You two wait for me here."
"And take care of Nebby. If it wakes up, give it some Pokéblocks."
This was directed at Celebi and Jirachi.
"Got it!"
Jirachi nodded firmly, as if to say, don't worry.
Celebi, on the other hand, had already pulled out its phone and said to Jirachi, "Let's duo queue. This time, without this noob, we'll definitely win!"
"Mm!"
Jirachi nodded vigorously.
Hearing that, Julian let out a cold snort. "Without me, you'll lose even faster."
But this time, the two little ones ignored him, only glancing up briefly before immediately starting a new match of Pokémon Glory.
He had been completely ignored.
Julian rubbed his nose.
Alright, he admitted he had been a bit of a liability last round, but the real problem was his teammates. If they had been even slightly better, he wouldn't have played so badly.
Cause and effect—there was a clear connection.
After mentally justifying himself with that reasoning, Julian left the backstage area and headed toward the stage.
