Chapter 928: The Battle Ends
Chapter 928: The Battle Ends
For a First-class Legendary Pokémon that possessed a "divine role," the core essence within its body—its origin power—was the key to its eternal undying existence.
Although that small clump of Death Essence had been expelled, Yveltal could still control it, preventing Metagross from snatching it away.
But while Metagross couldn't take it, there was still Mega Mewtwo X.
After all, it was this guy that had forced this fragment of essence out in the first place.
Just as Yveltal was about to reintegrate the essence fragment, a hand suddenly appeared before its exposed heart.
Seeing that hand, Yveltal's heart gave a violent throb.
The next instant, an unbearable wave of pain surged through it.
Crunch!
Its heart was crushed alive by Mega Mewtwo X, flesh and blood splattering everywhere.
"Taaaaal—!!!"
Yveltal let out a heart-wrenching scream. Unfortunately, its body had been held in place by Psychic from the very beginning. No matter how maddening the pain, it couldn't even move a muscle.
Even with its heart crushed, it still wasn’t dead.
Such was a First-class Legendary. Even if its physical body was destroyed, as long as its core essence remained, it would not perish.
As Yveltal's heart was crushed, that small clump of Death Essence was naturally extracted by Mega Mewtwo X. This pain was a hundred times more excruciating than having its heart crushed.
It was no longer just physical agony but torment of the mind and soul.
"TAAAH—!!!"
"Kill you— I will kill you all sooner or later, AAAAAH—!!!"
Yveltal shrieked, its face twisted with rage, but there was nothing it could do. It could only watch helplessly as Mega Mewtwo X extracted the essence fragment.
When the fragment was completely pulled from its body, Yveltal let out a piercing screech.
Immediately after, its broken body dissolved into countless tendrils of black mist.
In the blink of an eye, those black wisps condensed into a cocoon.
The Cocoon of Destruction.
Yveltal had reverted to the Cocoon of Destruction once more.
Julian paid no mind to Yveltal's earlier threats. Having lost a fragment of its core essence, Yveltal would likely need tens of thousands of years of slumber just to wake up.
In ten thousand years, he'd probably be long dead, and even if he somehow wasn’t, by the time Yveltal revived again, it would stand no chance against him.
The Cocoon of Destruction tore through space and vanished from the spot.
Mega Mewtwo X was a bit stunned. It realized that its Psychic could no longer control the Cocoon of Destruction, which was why it had managed to escape.
Julian didn't mind though.
Yveltal simply couldn't be killed, so whether the Cocoon of Destruction was in his hands or someone else's made little difference.
If he could defeat it once, he could certainly defeat it twice, or even three times.
With Yveltal transforming into the Cocoon of Destruction and vanishing, this incident was finally and truly over.
Julian immediately cut off the Mega Evolution connection with Mega Mewtwo X. The moment the link was severed, an overwhelming wave of exhaustion washed over him. He felt completely drained, his legs going weak.
Fortunately, Mewtwo was there to support him.
The sea was calm, a gentle breeze blowing.
Thump!
Just as Julian was about to deliver some cool closing lines to wrap things up, Mewtwo gave him a light tap on the head.
"What was that for?"
Rubbing his forehead, Julian looked at Mewtwo with displeasure. Didn't it know how many satellites were pointed at them right now? Doing that in public—where was his dignity?
"The things you said to Mew... don't think I didn't hear them."
Mewtwo's words instantly turned Julian's annoyed expression into one of awkwardness. So it had heard after all. His face took on a sheepish look, though he tried to sound justified. "Well, your connection is indeed pretty deep after all."
"Child!"
Mew, seeing that the battle was over, wanted to have a word with its offspring.
"Scram."
Before it could even start, Mewtwo cut it off sharply, shooting Mew an unfriendly glare.
"Oh."
Mew nodded and obediently floated away.
Julian: ⊙▃⊙
'No, why are you leaving so quickly?'
'Is your courage that small?'
Mew felt that its child had just been way too powerful—already at the Forbidden-Class—and it also seemed like an unfilial kid. What if it decided to beat its own parent too?
Had it not seen Yveltal’s miserable state just now?
"Time's up," Mewtwo said.
"What time's up?"
Before Julian could process it, he noticed Mewtwo had vanished.
So the summoning time had expired.
Looking at the 70 remaining Mewtwo fragments in his inventory, Julian muttered, "Don't worry. Sooner or later, you'll truly become a permanent member of this world."
"Gen~"
Gengar emerged from Julian's shadow, holding the Champion's violet-gold cape.
It placed the cape over Julian's shoulders.
Curious, Julian asked: "Why didn’t you put it on me at the beginning?"
"Gen~"
Gengar: "I was scared."
The reason was delivered with such shameless confidence that Julian gave Gengar's cheek a firm pinch.
But it wasn’t actually fear—Gengar admitted that it had simply forgotten.
"Mew~"
Mew: "Where's my child?"
"Why are you back again?"
Seeing Mew reappear, Julian grabbed it and pulled it into his arms, giving it a thorough rubdown.
Mew looked around but didn't see Mewtwo.
"It left," Julian said.
Then he looked at it disdainfully. "You only came back because you knew it was gone, right?"
He didn't believe for a second that Mew, having been scared off by Mewtwo just moments ago, had returned to look for it.
Mew: "The stuff you gave me last time is all gone. Can I have some more?"
It was talking about its exclusive Pokéblocks.
"Here."
Julian took out ten boxes of Mew's exclusive Pokéblocks.
He was quite generous with Mew. If it hadn't brought Mewtwo's Mega Stone today, combined with his own Unown's Protection buff, allowing Mewtwo to reach the Forbidden-Class, defeating Yveltal in just a few minutes would have been impossible.
Plus, this little guy felt amazing to hold. That soft, squishy feeling was simply indescribable.

> "We won! We finally won! Long live Champion Walker!"
> "Yveltal disappeared. Will it come back again?"
> "What's there to be afraid of? Isn't Champion Walker here?"
> "What was that clump of black energy? I feel like it was something incredible."
> "Definitely something good, but it's definitely not meant for you."
> "Julian must take responsibility for Babath. How many people died there?"
> "Where did this dog come from?"
> "Mew is so adorable!"
---
It was over. The defense battle of Babath concluded with Yveltal losing a fragment of its core essence, transforming into the Cocoon of Destruction and leaving. Babath itself was devastated—one-third of its territory ruined, one-third of its population dead, though the remaining areas were relatively intact.
In total, four First-class Legendary Pokémon had participated in the battle, and that the nation wasn't completely wiped out was already quite an achievement.
Babath's Higher-Ups: 'At least not everyone died. And with many high-ranking officials gone... maybe there's an opportunity for me?'
Some might wonder why other First-class Legendaries didn't intervene when so many people died. Well, compared to the global population, this loss was a drop in the bucket.
Plus, First-class Legendaries were beings above all. If you were a god, would you care about mortal deaths?
Moreover, the relationship between First-class Legendaries and humans had always been tense. Humans coveted their power, trying to control them. So why would a First-class Legendary help them without any benefits in sight?
