Chapter 935: Chapter 1152: Machamp
Chapter 935: Chapter 1152: Machamp
After turning off all the lights in the battle club, Shawn asked the Machamp beside him, "Machamp, have you closed all the windows?"
Machamp nodded.
"Then we're off work for today. Let's go home."
Shawn smiled, then walked out together with Machamp. Just as he was about to close the door, he heard faint footsteps behind him.
"Closing so early, boss? It's only ten o'clock."
A questioning voice came from behind.
Most battle clubs stayed open until one or two in the morning.
Clubs that closed this early were usually the kind with no business.
"I still need to go home and spend time with my wife and kid."
Shawn replied without turning around, only facing the speaker after locking the door.
Looking at the middle-aged man behind him, Shawn said, "If you're here for a battle, come tomorrow at eight—I'll even give you a 20% discount."
Just as he finished speaking, the Machamp beside him suddenly made a move, its hand chopping toward the man's neck.
But when the chop was just a finger's width away from the man's neck, it abruptly stopped.
Machamp's face turned red, veins bulging on its neck, but no matter how hard it tried, its hand couldn't move any closer.
"It seems even in retirement, you haven't lost your vigilance as a Steel Guard. I'm pleased about that… Aron."
The man's words immediately caused Shawn's expression to darken.
Aron had been his codename back when he was still in the Steel Guards.
"You attacked me, so you must already know why I came to find you, right?" the man asked.
Shawn shook his head. "I don't. I just sensed danger from you—I didn't even know you were from the Steel Guards."
"Back then, when we dealt with the Wynn family members overseas, ten Steel Guards were sent. Of those ten, three are dead now, six are still in the Steel Guards, and only one chose to retire."
"Aron, with your talent back then, if you'd stayed in the Steel Guards, even if you couldn't become one of the three Captains, you'd at least be a team captain by now."
"You were in your prime, yet you chose to retire."
"Aron, come clean. Otherwise, you know the Steel Guards have their ways..."
---
Skyline Residential Complex, inside Shawn's home.
His seventeen-year-old daughter was watching TV on the sofa, a bag of potato chips beside her.
A Machamp wearing an apron was tidying up things on the coffee table. It picked up the remote and directly switched off the TV.
"Machamp, what are you doing? It was just getting to the good part!"
The girl immediately grew anxious and tried to snatch the remote from Machamp's hand, but Machamp pressed her to the sofa with one hand.
"Mom! Mom! Save me!"
The girl called for help from her mother, who was scrolling through TikTok at the other end of the sofa.
Her mother glanced at her and said flatly, "Every time it's like this. Don't you know it's time for you to go to bed?"
"But tomorrow is Saturday! I can stay up until eleven!"
The girl cried out in a "tragic" voice.
'Saturday?'
Machamp remembered that tomorrow was indeed Saturday, so it silently released its grip and even tidied up the girl's messy hair.
"Hmph, Machamp, if you don't buy me something tasty tomorrow, I won't forgive you!" the girl puffed out her cheeks, looking at Machamp with grievance, though a hint of slyness lurked deep in her eyes.
Machamp silently nodded.
"Then I want chips, spicy strips, beef jerky, milk tea, dried fruit, nuts, and—mmph—"
Before she could finish, Machamp directly covered her mouth.
Machamp: 'Am I spoiling you too much?'
It looked at the girl disapprovingly.
The girl pried Machamp's hand away and said angrily, "Machamp, are you trying to suffocate me? You—"
She still hadn't finished speaking when Machamp suddenly threw a Fire Punch right above her head. Under the scorching heat wave, the girl could even smell her own hair singeing.
Then along with a scream, a Gourgeist suddenly appeared from above the girl's head.
The Gourgeist smashed through the wall and was sent flying outsude, the resulting noise alarming the entire residential complex.
"Ah!!"
The sudden turn of events made the girl shriek, and her mother immediately pulled her into her arms.
"Ghehehe~"
Machamp stared intently at the three Gengar around them.
The aura of a peak Elite instantly erupted, and under the horrified gazes of the three Gengar, it directly annihilated them.
"S-so strong…"
The girl stared blankly at Machamp, finding it hard to imagine that the Machamp who had taken care of her since childhood, always acting like a nanny, actually possessed such terrifying strength.
Machamp's transformation made her momentarily forget what had just happened.
Before she could ask anything, Machamp grabbed both the girl and her mother, leapt directly from the twentieth floor, and then sprinted off in a certain direction.
"Captain, that Machamp turned out to be a peak Elite. It's already taken those two and escaped."
"Got it."
An unhurried voice came from the other end of the phone.
"Machamp, what's going on? Why are there Pokémon trying to kill us? And why have you been hiding your strength? Where's Dad? Where did Dad go?"
The girl was slung over Machamp's shoulder. By now, they had already entered a small forest somewhere in Skyhawk City.
Faced with the girl's questions, Machamp remained silent.
"Mom, do you know something?"
The girl turned to her mother and asked.
Her mother pressed her lips together and shook her head, her face slightly pale.
Although she didn't know the exact reason, she was certain it had to do with her husband. The power Machamp had just unleashed was definitely at the Elite-level.
With such strength, it had been acting as a nanny at home all this time—and her husband, who owned such a powerful Pokémon, only ran a small, somewhat rundown battle club.
Machamp sprinted wildly, then suddenly sensed something. Its feet scraped against the ground, and it came to an abrupt halt.
"Machamp, have we reached a safe place?"
The jostling had made the girl a bit dizzy. She only knew Machamp had stopped and asked instinctively.
Then she felt Machamp gently set her down on the ground.
"Champ!"
Machamp: "You two go first. I'll hold them off."
Ahead, under the moonlight, a Aggron stood quietly. The aura emanating from it made even Machamp extremely wary.
The girl couldn't understand Machamp's words, but she understood its gestures.
"Machamp, you must come find Mom and me!"
Unlike in dramas, where someone refuses to leave during a crisis and ends up dragging everyone down, she didn't hesitate.
Her mother released a Dodrio, and the two of them rode off. The Aggron made no move to stop them.
"Let me introduce myself. I'm a team leader under the Third Captain, my codename is Lairon."
A man wearing a Lairon mask emerged from behind a large tree.
"Now, will you surrender quietly, or will I have to break your arms and legs before finally killing you?"
The response he received was Machamp's fist.
Listening to the sounds of battle coming from behind, the girl's grip on Dodrio's feathers tightened involuntarily.
