Chapter 954: Chapter 1171: I’m Married

Slow House–a café opened by Slowking specifically for wandering Slowpoke.

Julian came here today, not for any particular reason—he was just bored at home and thought he'd drop by.

After all, the last time he came was on the café's opening day, and it had already been over a year.

Everyone online knew that this café belonged to Julian. On top of that, the baristas here had all been personally trained by his Slowking.

The coffee they brewed tasted excellent, and the prices were affordable.

Because of this, Slow House had become a popular hotspot in Lake City. Every day, many customers came either to drink coffee or just to check in and take photos.

To avoid unnecessary trouble, Julian naturally didn't bring the two little ones with him. Even Nebby was left at home sleeping.

Metagross, meanwhile, was inside its Poké Ball.

After using his psychic abilities to alter his appearance, Julian walked in.

He had arrived relatively early, but the café was already quite busy. Fortunately, the place had three floors, and since it wasn't a holiday, there were still seats available.

After ordering a cup of coffee, Julian headed straight to the third floor.

As he passed through the first-floor lobby, he noticed many people taking photos of the items on display—all of which belonged to him.

To support Slowking, he had even put one of his beloved figurines on display.

"Limited edition Silver Metagross! I finally got to see the real thing—there are only 500 in the world!"

"The number on Champion Walker's Metagross figurine is 001."

"They were originally priced at one million, but now they have gone up to twenty million. And this one could probably sell for even fifty million now!"

"Seriously, how did Champion Walker manage to get one? His luck is insane!"

Hearing that, Julian felt quite smug inside.

'Why would I need luck? I just bought it from the person who got it.'

It wasn't even that expensive—just thirty million.

And now the price had gone up.

Julian felt an inexplicable sense of pride, as if he had made a savvy investment.

It wasn't like he wasn't making money—look, this collectible had already increased in value by twenty million.

The first and second floors were non-smoking areas, while the third floor allowed smoking. So, apart from the rich aroma of coffee, there was also a faint hint of cigarette smoke in the air.

In the past, excessive smoking and drinking would harm one's body.

But with advancements in medical technology, the damage caused by smoking and drinking had been significantly reduced.

And that lead to a relatively large number of people in these two categories.

Basically, over eighty percent of the Trainers enjoyed both.

Julian felt that his own avoidance of these two habits wasn't due to any particular self-discipline on his part, but rather because Love kept him in check.

His grandfather and father both smoked, but they never did it at home—for obvious reasons.

Although Julian had altered his appearance, he certainly wasn't about to make himself ugly. He still looked quite handsome, with a distinctive aura about him.

As soon as he reached the third floor, he caught the attention of quite a few young women drinking coffee there.

"Hey handsome, can I get your contact info~?"

Sure enough, a bold girl walked straight up to him.

"Married, sorry," Julian said with a smile.

"Oh…"

The girl pouted, a little disappointed.

The other women around, upon hearing Julian say he was married, also showed varying degrees of disappointment.

Downstairs on the first floor, Poochyena who was helping greet customers suddenly caught a familiar scent.

It froze for a moment, as if realizing something, then immediately followed the scent and ran upstairs.

Meanwhile, Julian was enjoying the coffee brought over by a Slowpoke.

"Woof!"

A cheerful bark sounded beside him.

He looked down to see Poochyena sitting at his feet, tail wagging, staring up at him with excitement.

Although his appearance had changed, his scent hadn't—Poochyena knew that the person in front of it was Julian.

"Long time no see."

Julian bent down and gently stroked Poochyena's head.

Poochyena's tail wagged even faster, its tongue lolling out happily.

"He actually lets you pet him—you're amazing!"

It was the same girl from earlier. She came over again and said in surprise.

In truth, she hadn't really believed him when Julian said he was married—after all, he wasn't wearing a ring. Maybe he was just turning her down.

After all, she herself had rejected plenty of guys.

"Oh? Does he usually not let people pet him?" Julian asked curiously.

Seeing Julian engage with her, the girl perked up and said, "Yeah, I come to this café a lot, and I've seen plenty of customers try to pet Poochyena, but he always dodges them."

"Maybe he just likes me."

Julian smiled and stopped his hand movements.

Poochyena, being smart, knew Julian didn't want to be recognized, so it quickly headed back downstairs.

"Well, that must mean you're a good person," the girl said with conviction.

"Why?"

Julian felt a bit speechless. She was quite a pretty girl—how did she end up sounding a bit naïve?

"Because Poochyena likes you. This café was opened by Champion Walker, so whether it's Slowking, Slowpoke, or Poochyena, none of them can be ordinary Pokémon."

Hearing that, Julian couldn't help but ask, "I remember these Pokémon were all strays. If they really weren't ordinary, how did they end up as strays in the first place?"

In reality, these Pokémon were very average in terms of potential. Only Slowking had Green-grade potential; the rest were Yellow-grade.

It was precisely because their potential was too low that they had been abandoned by their trainers and became strays.

"Are you kidding? After being taken in by Champion Walker, even if these Pokémon were ordinary before, they're bound to become extraordinary!"

The girl said this with such a serious expression that even Julian himself almost believed it.

"Mm, that makes sense."

Julian nodded along.

"Miss, can I get your contact info?"

Just then, a man walked over. He looked fairly handsome—of course, nowhere near Julian.

He had been eyeing this woman for a while and knew she had no connection to Julian—they weren't even sitting at the same table.

"Sorry, I'm married," the girl shook her head.

Julian: 'Is she copying me?'

"Miss, that's a pretty lame excuse," the man chuckled.

"Yeah, I thought so too," the girl said, glancing over at Julian.

Julian awkwardly rubbed his nose.

'Lame? I thought it was pretty good.'

"It's not impossible to give you my contact info. You just need to be stronger than me."

With that, the girl pulled out a badge case from her bag. Opening it revealed ten City-level Gym Badges inside.

"I'm competing in this year's Yale League. I'm a peak Advanced-level trainer, a third-year student at Silver University, and a Steel-type specialist."

Julian looked at the girl with some surprise, not expecting her to be somewhat of a prodigy.

Noticing his gaze, the girl shot him a smug look.

"What about you?"

"Uh… I'm not as strong as you," the man shook his head awkwardly.

If he had that kind of strength, would he need to be the one approaching girls for their contact info?
