Chapter 970: Matchmaker

Chapter 970: Matchmaker

"Julian, this song you wrote is really amazing. I never thought you could actually write songs," Hannah said, looking at Julian with admiration.

As a professional singer, she knew very well how popular this song would become in the future, not to mention that it was written by Julian himself.

This song could truly become a classic.

"It's alright, I guess. After all, I can do a little bit of everything," Julian replied without a hint of modesty, readily admitting it.

System: 'Shameless.'

He noticed Hannah's gaze occasionally drifting toward his bare upper body, her pretty face tinged with a blush.

"Want to touch it?" Julian teased.

Enhanced by his Mega Pallet Town Physique, every part of his body, from proportions to muscle definition, had achieved the most perfect form possible.

Having a body like this meant Julian was essentially cheating. For anyone else to achieve such a physique, it would truly be a gift from the heavens.

Hannah instinctively replied, "Can I?"

Realizing what she'd said, her face flushed immediately, and she shot Julian a reproachful look.

"Alright, I'll leave the rest to you. I'm heading off first," Julian said.

The system's Temporary Mission had already been marked as complete. Although the stage had given him a novel feeling, Julian knew what he truly wanted.

Waving to the audience, he picked up his clothes from the ground, hesitated for a moment, and then flung the garment with force toward the audience seats.

To prevent his clothes from being torn to shreds, Julian used a bit of psychic energy to direct the garment toward the spectator he found most pleasing to the eye—namely, the most beautiful female audience member.

Upon catching the clothes, the woman immediately curled into a ball, fiercely protecting the garment. With the help of her companions beside her, she managed to keep it safe.

Meanwhile, Julian had already ridden Zekrom back to his grandmother's house.

The oppressive aura of the Black Dragon caused every Pokémon in the Cavendish family estate to tremble in fear. Those of lower levels even fainted outright.

"Tone it down a bit," Julian patted Zekrom's head.

The personalities of the Black and White Dragons were different. Compared to Reshiram's calm demeanor, Zekrom liked to show off. Even now, knowing this was Julian's grandmother's home, it still insisted on unleashing its presence.

As if to say: 'I, the First-class Legendary Zekrom have arrived. You ordinary creatures should all quiet down.'

Hearing Julian's words, Zekrom reluctantly withdrew its aura.

"Champion Walker," a voice called out from nearby.

Julian saw the Cavendish family head standing not far away, looking at him and Zekrom beneath him with a mixture of trepidation and fervent excitement.

After all, no trainer could resist the opportunity to get up close with a First-class Legendary.

"Family Head, why aren't you resting yet?" Julian asked.

It was already past midnight. Shouldn't an elderly man like him be asleep by now? Older folks usually turned in early.

"I was waiting here specifically for you, Champion Walker," the family head replied.

Julian dismounted from Zekrom and returned it to its Poké Ball. He walked up to the family head and, noticing the man's hesitant expression, asked, "If you have something to say, just say it directly. After all, I'm relying on you to look after my grandmother."

His grandmother had been staying with the Cavendish family all this time, and over the years, the Cavendish family had never treated her poorly. Now, they even revered her like an ancestor.

So, as long as the request wasn't too excessive, Julian was willing to help if he could.

At the same time, Julian was curious. Given the relationship between the Cavendish and Walker families, no family should be foolish enough to provoke them, unless what the Cavendish family wanted to do was something quite ambitious.

"Champion Walker, your relationship with the Hearth family should be quite good, right?"

"Mhm," Julian nodded.

The Hearth family head was his maternal grandfather's younger sister, and Ember was his cousin. With that kind of connection, how could his relationship with the Hearth family not be good?

"Then... can Champion Walker possibly act as a matchmaker for my eldest son?" the Cavendish family head ventured.

'Asking me to be a matchmaker?'

The Hearth family was a prominent Champion clan in Drakoria. The Cavendish family, while also a major clan, had never produced a Champion. There was still a bit of a gap between them.

However, if he personally stepped in, a match might actually be possible.

"Which member of the Hearth family has caught his eye?" Julian asked curiously.

Seeing that Julian hadn't refused, the family head immediately felt hopeful and replied with some excitement, "Ember of the Hearth family."

As soon as he said it, he noticed Julian's gaze toward him become very strange.

'Ember—your mediocre son actually wants to marry the celebrated beauty of Orient City, the future head of the Hearth family, possibly even a future Champion?'

'A toad lusting after a swan's meat. Well, I've finally seen a real-life example of it.'

"Your son isn't worthy. You should wash up and get to bed early."

If it was any other girl from the Hearth family—even another direct-line daughter—for the sake of his grandmother, Julian might have actually brought it up with the Hearth family.

But of all people, this guy had his eyes on Ember?

This was practically a joke.

If he really went to propose a match, Ember would likely pull a knife on him right then and there.

Julian's brutally straightforward words left the Cavendish family head feeling deeply awkward, as if his eldest son was utterly worthless.

His eldest son was, after all, at the peak of the pseudo-Elite level.

Though he couldn't compare to Ember, who was a Pseudo-Champion, wasn't it natural for a father to have high hopes?

But Julian's outright refusal left him not knowing how to continue.

"Alright, stop worrying. Grandma was, after all, surnamed Cavendish. As long as our Walker family is still around, your family may not remain eternally prosperous, but it certainly won't be worse off than it is now."

What was the Cavendish family head really thinking? Julian could see right through it.

He was worried that if Grandma returned to the Walker family, she might no longer look out for the Cavendish family. Without such a powerful backer, all those families they had offended in the past would surely come looking for payback.

So, he wanted to latch onto the Hearth family. That way, even without the Walker family's support, with the Hearth family behind them, the Cavendish family wouldn't decline too severely.

You couldn't really blame the Cavendish family head for constantly seeking powerful allies. The truth was, for decades, the Cavendish family hadn't produced a single truly powerful trainer.

Among his sons, aside from the youngest who had a guaranteed path to becoming an Elite and the potential to reach Pseudo-Champion, the others... well, they were average at best.

For a major family like them, having Elite-level trainers was a must. But to maintain lasting prosperity, Elites alone weren't enough.

Truly great families all had Pseudo-Champions among them.

The Cavendish family currently didn't have any living Pseudo-Champions. The main reason they were still considered a major family was because their backing was incredibly solid.

One household, three Champions. With such support, even if the Cavendish family had no Pseudo-Champions—or even no trainers at all—they would still be considered a major family, one that the vast majority of other families wouldn't dare provoke.

Although Julian had refused to act as a matchmaker for his son, the promise he made afterward made the family head even happier than if the matchmaking had succeeded.
