Chapter 971: Chapter 1188: Call
Chapter 971: Chapter 1188: Call
The Silver Province League was naturally held in its capital, Lake City. This major event took place once a year, and most participants were young people from within the province—primarily university students.
Many universities even required their students to participate in their provincial League, and based on their final rankings, universities would award corresponding academic credits.
Of course, if you won the Championship, the title of "Outstanding Graduate" was practically guaranteed, and there was a very high chance of becoming an Elite-level trainer in the future.
After all, the Champion of a provincial-level League carried significant weight. As long as you didn't fall along the way, becoming an Elite-level trainer was almost certain.
Moreover, the rewards for the Champion were incredibly generous. For example, one of the prizes was a Cyan-grade Pokémon egg, with its Typing matching the winner.
Julian also attended the League's opening ceremony, showed off a bit with the Black and White Dragons, delivered some motivational lines to hype up the young people, and then promptly left.
As for whether he would attend the closing ceremony—that depended on Gemma. If she won the Championship, he would show up. If not, then of course he wouldn't—he couldn't afford that embarrassment.
After returning home, his phone rang. Glancing at it, he saw no number—only the words "Unknown Caller." Julian's eyes flickered slightly.
"Hello."
"Julian, it's me."
The voice of Organization Y's Master came through the phone.
Just as he had expected, this call was from her.
Since their last deal, the other party hadn't contacted him again.
Of course, Julian had been closely monitoring the Primal Secret Realm in Celestria. Both the Steel Guards and Drakoria's intelligence agencies had been keeping a tight watch.
If any suspicious individuals entered, Julian would be notified immediately.
However, nearly two months had passed, and nothing unusual had been detected. Julian certainly didn't believe that they had given up—more likely, they were plotting something else.
Or perhaps they had already entered and successfully evaded both the Steel Guards and Drakoria's surveillance.
"What is it?" Julian asked.
"You lied to me! Xerneas isn't in that Primal Secret Realm at all!" came the woman's furious voice over the phone.
Julian's mind raced slightly—had they really managed to enter the secret realm under such heavy surveillance?
During this time, several groups from Celestria had indeed entered and exited the Primal Secret Realm, but their identities appeared to have no red flags.
"I have no reason to lie to you. It's in there. You've seen the photos and videos yourself."
Naturally, Julian wasn't about to admit anything.
"As a First-class Legendary, even while asleep, Xerneas can perceive what's happening around it."
"If you approach it with ill intent, it naturally won't reveal itself to you."
"I think you should be very clear about that."
This part, Julian wasn't lying about.
Human thoughts simply couldn't be hidden from a First-class Legendary.
And precisely because First-class Legendaries had this ability, they could sense the negative emotions most humans harbored toward them—desire, greed, possessiveness, and so on—leading many First-class Legendaries to have a generally poor impression of humanity.
Frankly, Julian felt that it was already merciful of the First-class Legendaries not to have destroyed humanity.
After all, imagine living among a group of people who constantly schemed to control you, use your power to conquer the world, and treat you like nothing more than a tool or a weapon.
Living alongside such arrogant, greed-driven beings—it would be utterly nauseating.
So looking at it that way, First-class Legendaries really were quite kind-hearted.
"I need the item to awaken Xerneas," the voice on the other end said.
Julian's eyes narrowed slightly as he smiled.
"So that just now—you were testing me. You never actually entered that secret realm."
If she had really gone in and discovered that Xerneas wasn't where he had said, then calling him to vent her anger would have been perfectly normal.
But she wouldn't be asking for the awakening item.
After all, if she believed he had deceived her about Xerneas's location, she would have concluded that he had no real knowledge of where it slumbered—that the photos and videos were fake, and that any so-called awakening item was probably fake as well.
So just now, she was probing him.
The deal had already been completed, yet this woman still had doubts.
Fortunately, he hadn't admitted to anything—otherwise the entire plan would have fallen apart.
"I can give you the item," Julian said with a smile. "But what are you offering in exchange?"
There was a brief silence on the other end before she replied, "I can give you Yveltal's Cocoon of Destruction."
A sharp light flashed through Julian's eyes.
Ever since Yveltal was severely wounded by Mewtwo in Babath, it had been forced to revert to its Cocoon of Destruction state and had vanished into the void without a trace.
Julian certainly had no idea where it was slumbering.
But Organization Y might actually know. After all, they were the ones who had summoned Yveltal in the first place. So it was entirely possible that they knew where Yveltal's resting place was.
Unlike Julian, whose information had all been fabricated.
Did Yveltal have any use for Julian?
Yes—an extremely significant one.
Gengar already contained a small portion of Yveltal's Death Essence power. Since it could absorb that power, then if given another portion, could it continue absorbing more?
And if the entire Death Essence of Yveltal was extracted and absorbed by Gengar… could Gengar replace Yveltal and become the new God of Death?
A terrifying, almost insane idea began to take shape in Julian's mind.
He seemed to see a path—a path to elevate Gengar into godhood.
And not just any First-class Legendary, but one possessing the power of rules—an authority.
Deoxys, for example, was a First-class Legendary, but it did not wield any rule-based power. This kind of power could also be understood as a "divine authority"—something certain First-class Legendaries were born with.
For instance, Julian's Black and White Dragons also possessed Authority.
Zekrom, the Black Dragon, was known as the Dragon of Ideals, while Reshiram, the White Dragon, represented Truth.
"Ideals" and "Truth" were their respective Authorities.
However, compared to Authorities like Death, Life, Time, Space, Sea, or Earth, concepts like Ideals and Truth felt more abstract.
That said, it wasn't as if a First-class Legendary without an Authority was necessarily weaker than one with one.
Mewtwo was a prime example.
"Let me think about it. Call me again at this time tomorrow."
With that, Julian hung up.
Just now, he had almost agreed on impulse, driven by his own desire—but fortunately, he held back.
Putting aside whether the other party was being sincere, even if he did obtain Yveltal's Cocoon of Destruction, extracting its Death Essence would be extremely difficult.
Unless he summoned Mewtwo again, relying solely on the Black and White Dragons likely wouldn't be enough to extract that power.
"…Maybe this idea is worth trying," Julian muttered to himself.
[T/N: Just a reminder that the Twin Dragons lost because Yveltal was recovering itself by absorbing Death Energy and not because the author mentioned Authority there for it and not for the Dragons.]
