Chapter 973: Chapter 1190: Relicanth

Coming out of the warehouse, Julian returned home.

"Dee~"

Seeing Julian covered in wood shavings, Love immediately told him to take off his clothes and go shower—even his hair was full of sawdust.

"I was making some small things, so I got a bit messy," Julian explained.

Then he took out a hairband made from a World Tree branch. It was essentially a series of small beads strung together with an elastic band.

"Love, I made this for you. Here, let me put it on."

"Dee~"

Love happily squinted its eyes.

Julian slipped the hairband onto Love's left horn.

For a Pseudo–Champion-level Pokémon like Love, an extra fifty years of lifespan wasn't particularly significant—but the item also had a nourishing effect on the body.

"Dee~"

Once Julian put it on, Love immediately took out a small mirror and began admiring itself, tilting its head at different angles.

'The accessory my cub made is really beautiful.'

And the moment it wore it, it could feel a warm, comfortable energy flowing through its body.

As expected—anything its cub gave Love had to be something special.

"Son, come out quickly! Come see my catch! Hurry up!"

Jake's excited, impatient, and slightly boastful voice came from outside.

He had gone fishing yesterday and hadn't come back at night—only returning this morning.

From the sound of his voice, had he really caught something huge? Or… did he somehow reel in Kyogre?

Julian immediately opened the door. And as soon as he did, he saw Jake standing at the doorstep, with a gray fish-like Pokémon at his feet.

"A Relicanth?! Damn—you actually caught this?!"

Julian's face showed surprise—not fake, but genuine one.

Relicanth was a large fish Pokémon with map-like markings across its body. Its head was light brown, while its dark brown body was patterned with lighter brown markings and a distinct red spot.

And Female Relicanth had shorter gill covers.

This Pokémon lived in the deep sea and had only been discovered a handful of times. Pokémon researchers even considered it to be on the brink of extinction.

"Dad, that's amazing!"

Julian gave Jake a thumbs-up.

For a fishing enthusiast, catching an extremely rare Relicanth was an achievement second only to catching Kyogre.

"Hahaha! Now you see how amazing your old man is?"

Seeing the genuine surprise on his son's face, Jake felt overjoyed. His fatherly sense of pride came rushing in an instant.

"Dad, where did you catch it?"

Relicanth was a deep-sea Pokémon. Although there was a sea near Lake City, it was only shallow water. To reach the deep sea, you'd normally have to leave the country.

"Right here, fishing at South Bay," Jake replied.

Julian looked at the Relicanth on the ground in disbelief and muttered, "This fish must have something wrong with its brain to come to shallow waters…"

"What do you mean 'something wrong with its brain'? It's obviously because your dad's fishing skills are too good!" Jake said, displeased.

"Metagross, hurry up and put it in the fish tank. Something's finally qualified to go in there," Jake said.

There was a large fish tank at home, but it had always remained empty.

In Jake's words, he hadn't yet caught a fish worthy of being placed in that tank.

Now, this extremely rare Relicanth had earned that honor.

Its level was quite decent too—pseudo-Elite level—but it was very docile and didn't dare move recklessly.

After all, in this household, everyone was either Champion or Pseudo–Champion. A mere pseudo-Elite Pokémon couldn't stir any trouble.

It couldn't even break the glass of the fish tank.

"Son, let me tell you in detail how I caught this guy—"

Jake was clearly in high spirits and would probably stay excited for days.

"Dad, wear this bracelet."

Julian had no interest in listening to Jake's rambling, so he directly handed over the bracelet.

"What do I need this for? No thanks." Jake shook his head.

"Alright then."

Julian took it back and casually added, "Even though it can strengthen your body and, if worn long-term, extend your lifespan by fifty years… but if you don't want it, then forget it."

No sooner had he finished speaking than the bracelet disappeared from his hand.

Jake had already swiftly put it on his wrist.

Having fished for an entire day and night, staying focused the whole time, he did feel a bit tired upon returning home.

But the moment he put on the bracelet, a warm current spread through his entire body, instantly washing away his physical and mental fatigue.

"Good stuff!"

Jake felt like he could go fishing for another three days and nights straight.

This bracelet was practically a miracle tool for staying up late!

And according to this brat, it could even extend his lifespan by fifty years—as long as he wore it long-term.

With Julian's help, Jake's lifespan had already reached over two hundred years. But adding another fifty years was still quite significant.

"You brat, how do you have so many good things?"

Jake happily admired the bracelet on his wrist.

He didn't even bother asking whether Tina or John had one. Based on his son's habits, if there was only one or two of these items, Julian would have given them to Tina and John first.

Since he had one, it meant everyone else in the family must have one too.

Sure enough, he noticed the hairband on Love's horn. He had never seen it before, and the beads on it were the same color as his bracelet—just smaller.

"Love, my beads are bigger than yours," Jake said smugly.

"Dee~"

Love couldn't be bothered to respond to this idiot.

Instead, it looked at Julian and gestured for him to hurry up and take a shower—his change of clothes had already been prepared.

"Dee~"

Then it turned to Jake. This guy had been fishing for a whole day and night; not only was he dirty, but he also reeked of sweat. Love's brows immediately furrowed.

"You go take a shower too."

After living together for so many years, even without psychic abilities, Jake could roughly understand what Love meant.

"No, I'm heading out now."

Jake shook his head. With the bracelet restoring his energy—and the excitement of catching Relicanth—he felt like he could go out and catch another one.

"Dee~"

Love simply stared at him.

Jake shivered. His rationality instantly returned—he realized he had gotten carried away and had actually tried to defy Love.

So he quickly nodded.

"I'll go take a shower now. Love, help me prepare a change of clothes."

"Dee~"

Love nodded.

After personally watching Jake enter the bathroom, Love turned to prepare his fresh clothes.

But halfway through, it took out a small mirror again and admired the hairband on its horn, tilting its head from different angles—it looked good no matter how it saw it.

Its slightly sour mood from Jake's antics immediately improved.

Humming a little tune, Love went to fetch Jake a clean set of clothes.
