Chapter 975: Chapter 1192: Four Gold

Back in the backyard of his home, the excitement on Julian's face still lingered.

The rewards from this Temporary Quest were on par with those of a Main one.

And ever since he completed the last Main Quest, the System hadn't issued any new ones, leaving Julian without such generous rewards for quite a long time.

The one million points were actually secondary.

The real highlights were the five Golden Legend Fragments and the three Rare Candies.

He already had five Golden Legend Fragments, and now with an additional five rewarded, he had enough to synthesize a complete Golden Legend.

That meant Julian could now gain another Gold-grade Potential Pokémon.

The suitable candidates were Lucario, Gengar, and Moltres—all three of which were Champion-level Pokémon.

However, Gengar had been blessed with many opportunities. Although its Potential was still Purple-grade in classification, about ninety-five percent of it had already turned Gold.

In other words, Gengar was just a hair's breadth away from reaching Gold-grade Potential.

So using the Golden Legend on it felt somewhat wasteful.

Even if Gengar did absolutely nothing now, its Potential would likely elevate to Gold-grade on its own within two or three years.

That left Lucario and Moltres.

"Lucario."

Julian quickly made his choice.

He admitted that compared to Moltres, he preferred Lucario more.

When someone had many children, there would inevitably be some they favored more, while others received slightly less affection.

"Luca~"

A handsome canine Pokémon appeared, looking at its trainer and awaiting his command.

"Here."

A point of golden light shot from Julian's hand toward Lucario. Lucario instinctively reached out to catch it, but strangely, the golden light phased directly into its body.

Crack—

Immediately afterward, Lucario seemed to hear a shattering sound.

"Luca!"

The shackles within its body had broken.

Lucario looked at Julian in delight. Although its level hadn't changed at all, it could clearly feel that the restraints binding it had shattered, and a powerful surge of energy surged within its body.

Looking at Lucario's luxurious stats, Julian couldn't have been more happy.

When raising Pokémon, a trainer experienced a sense of accomplishment akin to nurturing something from the ground up.

Watching the Pokémon they have raised grow step by step, finally reaching the Champion level—that sense of fulfillment was even more intense than conquering a hundred women.

"Luca!"

Lucario gently clenched its fist. Boom! The air trapped within its palm was instantly compressed to the point of explosion.

It could do this before, but never as effortlessly and easily as it did today.

Right now, it felt like it could take on ten of its former selves.

This left Lucario utterly astounded. It couldn't help but glance at Julian, as if asking what that golden point of light just now was.

It clearly knew that it was that light which had broken its shackles.

"Good stuff. I only gave it to Metagross and you. Don't tell the others," Julian whispered softly into Lucario's ear.

The sight of Julian tricking Lucario like a child made Metagross beside them show a look of disdain.

"Luca!"

Lucario, of course, trusted its trainer completely and immediately nodded seriously.

It silently vowed to take this secret to its grave.

"Mm."

Julian patted its shoulder.

He had said the exact same thing to Aggron and Dragonite before.

It was mainly to avoid certain Pokémon finding out about his favoritism and getting jealous again—like a certain dumb dog or silly bird—otherwise his "harem" would become restless.

Counting Lucario, Julian now had four Pokémon with Gold-grade Potential.

He recalled Lucario into its Poké Ball.

Then he sent out Kartana and Milotic.

"Here."

Julian took out a Rare Candy and handed it to Kartana.

The three Rare Candies rewarded from the Temporary Quest could only be used by Pokémon at the Pseudo-Champion level.

Kartana's eyes instantly lit up. This was an incredible item; consuming it would directly raise its level by one—perfect for breaking through during bottleneck stages.

Julian had promised Kartana before that if he ever got more Rare Candies, it would be the first in line.

Kartana was currently at the peak of Pseudo-Champion tier. A single Rare Candy would be enough to push it into the Champion tier.

Milotic was at the same level as Kartana.

So he gave Milotic one as well.

In an instant, a terrifying surge of aura erupted from the two Pokémon.

Julian gave Metagross a look, and the latter immediately used its psychic powers to block the aura.

Otherwise, the combined aura surge of two Pokémon breaking through to the Champion tier at the same time would be enough to make most Pokémon across half of Lake City collapse.

Sure, it would have been a chance to show off, but Julian felt that this kind of showing off had lost its novelty for him.

After all, Aggron had already put on that display back in Orient City when it broke through. There was no need for a repeat the performance.

"Damn, this kid really is a monster."

Inside the house, Jake had uncharacteristically stayed home instead of going fishing. He'd spent the last few days admiring the Relicanth he caught earlier.

Just moments ago, he'd been admiring it when he suddenly sensed an intense aura fluctuation. Stepping outside to look, he caught the exact moment Kartana and Milotic broke through to the Champion tier.

It directly left him stunned and speechless. How did his son make breaking through to the Champion tier look as easy as eating or drinking?
