Chapter 980: Chapter 1197: Five Treasures

"Stop—right here."

Up in the air, Julian was riding Salamence, holding the Dowsing Machine in his hand. It had been three days since he entered the Primal Secret Realm, and he was currently above a place called Spring Path.

Just half a day after arriving, the Dowsing Machine had already shown a big red dot representing an Ultimate treasure.

At Julian's command, Salamence dived down and quickly reached the ground.

Then Julian kicked Salamence's leg.

"You did that on purpose to scare me, didn't you?"

That sudden dive had made Julian grab its neck in a panic.

Salamence shook its head, but its expression clearly showed that it had done it intentionally.

"It's right below here. Start digging."

Julian pointed at the ground beneath his feet.

Salamence looked at Julian and pointed at itself, as if asking, 'Me? You want me to dig?'

Julian nodded expressionlessly.

Salamence's face fell. Digging and tunneling—weren't those jobs for Steelix and Aggron? Why was it assigned to it now?

'You're just being petty.'

After grumbling internally, Salamence extended its claws and started digging.

Surprisingly, although its efficiency couldn't compare to professionals like Steelix or Aggron, its speed was still impressive.

It even coated its claws with Dragon-type energy, essentially turning them into Dragon Claws.

With each swipe, it dug six to seven meters deep and three to four meters wide.

At that rate, Salamence quickly dug nearly a hundred meters down.

Salamence: 'So digging is actually this easy? I can totally do this.'

At this moment, it even felt the urge to compete for the "excavation position" with Steelix and Aggron.

After all, it didn't get many chances to appear in battle and was often just used as transportation by Julian. If digging was an option, that didn't seem so bad.

Julian had no idea that what was meant to be a punishment—making Salamence dig—had actually made it enjoy the task so much that it was even thinking about competing for the role.

"We're almost there—slow down."

Sitting on Salamence's back, Julian saw that the red dot on the Dowsing Machine was now very close. He was worried that this novice digger might accidentally destroy the Ultimate treasure with too much force.

Although most Ultimate treasures were quite sturdy and wouldn't break easily, some were still relatively fragile and could shatter if mishandled.

And once a treasure was broken, most of its energy would dissipate, and its effectiveness would naturally be greatly reduced.

After a few minutes, Salamence carefully pulled out a blue object from the earth—it looked very much like a bamboo shoot.

[Thunder Shoot: Increases the power of Electric-type moves by 20%, and increases the success rate of paralysis by 30% (Limited to Electric-type Pokémon)]

"Sal?"

Salamence: "Can I use it?"

Julian shook his head. "It's for Electric-type Pokémon."

Bad luck—this Ultimate treasure wasn't suitable for any of his Pokémon.

In fact, Julian didn't have a single Electric-type Pokémon. As for Zekrom that guy was a First-class Legendary and it would be useless for it.

He looked at Salamence. "Don't bother digging in the future—your luck is terrible."

Previously, most of the Ultimate treasures he had dug up were usable by his team.

This Thunder Shoot, however, was the first Ultimate treasure he found in this Primal Secret Realm—and it was already an unlucky start.

Over the next few days, Julian dug up four more Ultimate treasures.

[Normal Core: Increases Normal-type move power by 20% (Normal-type Pokémon only)]

[Insect Fruit: Extends the lifespan of Bug-type Pokémon by 1,000 years (Bug-type Pokémon only)]

[Bitter Chestnut Wood: Increases Fairy-type energy and makes it easier for Fairy-type Pokémon to break through bottlenecks (Fairy-type Pokémon only)]

[Frost Soil: Increases Ice-type move power by 20% and raises frostbite chance by 30% (Ice-type Pokémon only)]

Including the previous one, that made five Ultimate treasures in total—and not a single one was usable for his Pokémon.

Julian was completely stunned, wearing an expression of 'Who am I? Where am I? What is going on?'

"This makes no sense… no sense at all…"

He muttered to himself.

Among all his Pokémon, these five Types were exactly the ones he didn't have—and yet every single Ultimate treasure he found belonged to those exact five.

Julian looked at his hands. They were so fair and clean, yet he felt as if some kind of "bad luck aura" was swirling around them.

Then he kicked Salamence, who was napping nearby.

"Sal?"

Salamence opened its eyes groggily to see its trainer looking at it with a somewhat neurotic expression—before getting kicked again.

Julian huffed angrily at Salamence. "It was you! You started this bad streak!"

Come to think of it, that actually made sense. It was Salamence who had dug up that damned Thunder Shoot in the first place. And from that moment on, every single Ultimate treasure they unearthed was useless to him.

Hearing that, Salamence immediately put on an innocent expression.

Salamence: "Wasn't it you who told me to dig?"

At those words, Julian felt as if he'd been punched square in the chest. He clutched his heart and staggered back a few steps.

"I don't care—it's still your fault!"

Julian's face darkened slightly. 'Damn it, this guy is actually trying to shift the blame onto me? This dragon's got some nerve.'

Salamence: 'You're the one trying to shift the blame.'

"But the next four were dug by you."

Salamence's next words were like four sharp swords stabbing straight into Julian's already battered heart.

"You're still talking back?!"

Furious, Julian kicked Salamence's leg several more times—thump, thump, thump.

Crack—

A crisp sound rang out.

All the Pokémon turned to look at the same time.

There was their trainer, clutching his foot and collapsed on the ground in agony, while Salamence stood nearby wearing an innocent expression.

"Slow?"

Slowking immediately ran over.

"What's wrong?"

Julian said shakily, "My toe… my toe seems to be broken."

Then he pointed at Salamence, full of indignation. "This guy's trying to rebel! Slowking, teach him a lesson for me!"

Salamence's scales were incredibly hard. Although Julian possessed the Mega Pallet Town Physique, no matter how freakish his body, it still couldn't compare to that of a Pseudo-Champion Pokémon.

With just a little too much force, Salamence remained completely unharmed, while Julian had instead fractured his own toe.

And thinking back on all those useless Ultimate treasures he'd dug up recently, Julian just felt utterly wronged. If it weren't for the situation, he might have found a place to cry alone.

This was just too unfair—there was no justice in this world at all.

"Ghahaha~"

Gengar, utterly devoid of conscience, was off to the side laughing so hard it was practically rolling on the ground.

Celebi and Jirachi were no better—the pair of them were laughing even louder than Gengar.

It made Julian both angry and embarrassed. Today, he had completely lost face.

He glared viciously at Salamence, only for the big oaf to walk over and extend its own leg, as if to say: 'Go ahead, keep kicking. Kick until you feel better.'

Julian: 'Is this mockery? This has got to be mockery.'

"Mage~"

Magearna walked over and began healing Julian.

For physical injuries like fractures and external wounds, a Pokémon's Heal Pulse was extremely effective. Usually, two or three uses could cure most injuries.

For an injury like Julian's, a single Heal Pulse was enough.
