Chapter 1183: Past Defeat
Chapter 1183: Past Defeat
"So, are you going to kill them all?" Selene asked, resting her head on Kent’s shoulder as they flew in a colossal ship through the teleportation tunnel leading to Planet Solaryn.
Liora was also resting in a similar fashion.
Kent let a smile appear on his face as he answered, "You know, since I have killed the Supreme Pyris Pill Family, it would be only right to kill them too.
I mean, they had, after all, offended me by coming against me and what they shouldn’t have touched."
"I know, however, isn’t there a better way to handle this? They, after all, are alchemists... I feel like killing them all will be a huge loss to the Ten Pill Worlds."
Selene tried to reason with Kent, who deep down knew that killing even a Pill Monarch is a huge loss to the Pill Society. However, he also could not bring himself to consider them as not guilty. They had, after all, killed thousands of innocent alchemists just to rise to power.
That was unforgivable.
However, the loss outweighed the gain here.
Kent took a deep sigh...
"Let me tell you a story." Kent took both Liora’s and Selene’s hands into his and began narrating his story.
"I had just killed the most unkillable Demon Lord and had gained so much fame despite nobody knowing who my true self was. However, they were happy simply because I killed a tyrant.
I was happy too.
However, what nobody knew was that before getting to the Demon Lord, I had to kill thousands. He was that protected, and so I had to be creative and precise.
I succeeded in the end, but it turned out I failed too." Kent sighed, his mind going back to his life as the faceless assassin and the loss he had suffered back then.
"You see, in the process of killing my way to the Demon Lord, I spared his youngest daughter, who at that time was just sixteen years old.
Her father was a tyrant, and her siblings were evil. However, after spending so much time studying her, I found her to be innocent, so I spared her.
Many would have killed her just to prevent future problems. However, even my cold heart couldn’t bring itself to kill her, and so it backfired.
You see, not long after I completed my mission, the innocent demon girl proved not to be too innocent after all. One fateful day, news spread everywhere that the youngest and only living daughter of the dead tyrant had colluded with the Demon Poison Clan, and they poisoned the planet I had saved from the tyrant Demon Lord.
Less than ten percent of the billions that lived there had survived that ordeal. Children, mothers, pregnant women, and many more died simply because I decided to show compassion, mercy, and kindness.
My decision to spare the spawn of a tyrant cost the lives of thousands, and it was my fault. I could have prevented it, yet I didn’t, and that was on my hands.
So sure, I can choose to spare these people. I can even choose to let them be. However, tomorrow, they will turn their gaze toward the next business, the next alchemist, and before you know it, many lives will be destroyed.
Sure, I can find another way to sack them, but then they will come back ten times more powerful. What happens when they choose to come back and this time kill everyone?
This is why I will kill every last one of them. Then, using their blood, I will send a piercing message—one that will ensure nobody dares entertain the idea of ever coming against the Ten Pill Worlds."
Selene and Liora could only look at Kent, not out of fear, but out of concern for his mental health.
Remembering such a severe failure surely wasn’t pleasant. He had saved the world only for a mistake he made to come back and bite him in the ass.
Sure, sparing the lady was the right thing to do. Keeping her out of the slaughter he committed was the right thing to do.
However, because of that one good deed, billions died, and that was his fault, no matter how he wanted to see it.
So he promised himself he would never make such a mistake again. This time, when he saw a threat, he would make sure it was handled before it escalated into something even more severe.
"We understand," Selene said, and Liora nodded.
Kent nodded and then said in a calm tone, "Of course, I will give them enough time to save themselves. However, those who wouldn’t listen will have to answer for their crimes, and for that, I will not spare even a single one of them."
The ladies nodded.
Kent smiled and kissed Selene. After breaking the kiss, he turned to Liora and kissed her too. "You ladies can go inside the tower and wait for me there if you don’t want to witness the bloodbath."
They shook their heads, and Liora replied, "We will stand by your side and make sure you get it done. We are your wives, so supporting you unconditionally is our job."
"Liora is right. We are your wives, so don’t for one second think we will let you handle something this important alone. We will stand by your side through it all."
Kent smiled and nodded. "Then I will be counting on your support."
They resumed their kiss. Soon, time passed, and they were drawing near to their destination.
Meanwhile, back on Planet Solaryn, thousands had gathered at the Solaryn Pill Pagoda. They were the ones who came to resist Kent and show him he was nobody in this Pill World.
Of course, a few curious ones had already found good vantage points to watch from. Many were from the Immortal Worlds.
They came looking for Kent, and now that they knew where he would be, they came to see what he could do and whether they would get lucky enough to meet him and try to learn more about him.
Of course, they were after the reason why his name appeared on the Sword Dao Tablet. But for now, they would stand by and observe.
A couple of hours later, Kent and his wives, Liora and Selene, arrived on Planet Solaryn.
