Chapter 1252: Massacre (2)
Chapter 1252: Massacre (2)
They came in like a sea—scales glimmering, jaws wide, breaths igniting with chaotic flame of fury. All hundreds of thousands of dragons are flame dragons.
Though they have weaker bloodlines, taking on the combined assault of thousands of said dragons is no joke, even for someone like Kent.
In an instant, Kent was swallowed by a storm of killing intent.
The first wave descended like a torrent of collapsing moon.
Tens of thousands of dragon breaths, all fire, merged into a single catastrophic beam aimed at one lone figure below.
Kent planted his foot lightly on the ground, keeping his focus on Atarah (forsaken seer) and the other Root Immortal. She has Immortal Qi, and as a forsaken seer, Kent knew she was a danger.
In fact, she is the only one Kent is wary of. All forsaken Seers are just too crafty and deadly.
However, that doesn’t mean his attention on the dragon beam is any less.
"Hmph." Kent sighed.
He opened his clawed hand, causing a ball of condence ice to form. Then it quietly exploded. A pulse of cold suddenly swept out, creating a cold field.
The field erupted with frost as the barrage slammed into him—or more like into the ice field.
The explosion was so violent that the void split apart for miles. Trenches were carved into the air. The void closed; however, the shockwave went even beyond the planet’s borders.
Yet Kent walked out of the smoke unscathed.
Only a thin layer of frost coated his shoulders, slowly flaking away.
"Your breath stinks." He grinned, clearly unbothered by the attack he had just taken. He is merely using the blood runes to boost his physical strength.
Since he doesn’t have any ability for the ice element yet, the only thing he can do is use it to freeze or defend. Surprisingly, the ice is proving more perfect for defence than the flame could do.
Of course, with his flame core and Nirvana flames, he can be considered a deadly dragon since using just them is enough to raise his offensive power several-fold.
However, since he is getting used to the ice, Kent keeps going until he can’t anymore on it alone. He had yet to tap into the absolute ice property. However, he is already this deadly.
Suddenly, a crimson dragon swooped in from above, maw wide, claws extended to tear him apart. Kent blinked forward—one instant there, the next gone—and appeared on its massive snout.
His claw sliced downward.
SHRRRKK.
The dragon’s head split clean in half, crashing into a herd of its own allies below, creating a crater of devastation.
But that didn’t cause any hesitation from the other dragons. Before the crimson dragon could hit the ground, a massive shadow eclipsed him.
Another dragon, black-scaled and armoured with bone plating, spun mid-air and whipped its tail infused with forsaken qi toward him. The force behind it could level an army of Heavenly Ascension cultivators.
However, Kent merely raised one hand, allowing the tail to hit his palm.
BOOOOOM.
A shockwave burst outward, sending dozens of dragons spiralling away. Kent didn’t budge.
"Too slow. Too weak."
He clenched his fingers, ice forming instantly around the tail. Before the beast could recoil, Kent swung the frozen limb like a club.
CRACK—CRASH!
The dragon was smashed into the ground, body twisting unnaturally as bones shattered under the impact. It didn’t even have the chance to scream.
However, Kent also couldn’t finish it off the way he wanted to.
Hundreds more descended at once, forming a circle around him. Their throats lit up, each preparing another breath attack.
At that time, Kent brought both hands together and formed a hand seal.
He may not have skills and techniques for the ice element, but he had some for the flame element. So, he replicated the runes for a flame technique, but with ice as the energy source.
It was one of Chao’s signature attacks back when he dominated the Blood System.
"Kunpeng Bow..."
Suddenly, the ground shuddered and cracked open, forcing cold and bone-chilling ice to erupt from it. Then from within, a large bow, about 200 meters in diameter, rose.
BOOM
A wave of ice exploded out from it, causing many dragons to freeze midair, then fall, shattering into chunks of ice.
"Although not perfect like with the flame element, with absolute ice, I can bridge that gap." Kent chose not to waste time and activated the absolute ice form, causing the dragons below the Life stage to start falling from the sky, their wings frozen.
Kent flew and landed on the giant bow, his body emitting coldness beyond understanding.
"Stop him," Atarah commanded.
The other forsaken immortal flew into the air and formed a hand seal.
"Forsaken Art: First Form – Sea of Forsaken Swords."
Countless dark blades materialised behind the forsaken immortal—every last sword forged from corrupted qi, each humming with death and destruction. In a breath, the sky turned into a storm of black steel.
The clicking sound of metal vibrating through the air could be heard as the thousands of swords pointed down at Kent.
Just seeing the swords raining down made Kent feel dread.
Thousands of swords rained toward Kent like a tidal wave meant to erase a continent. If this weren’t a battle to the death, Kent would have taken his dear time to examine this technique.
However, sensing his life is in danger, his eyes narrowed.
The bow beneath his feet pulsed once... then thrummed like a heartbeat.
Ice spread outward.
"Kunpeng Bow... Ten Explosive Absolute Ice Arrow."
The giant bow cracked the air as a massive arrow of condensed absolute ice formed in its centre. It shimmered with killing intent so sharp that even without unleashing it, one could sense the danger.
Kent made a simple gesture in the air, but it manifested as pulling the string back with two fingers. The Kunpeng Bow groaned under the weight of unimaginable cold.
The temperature dropped so sharply that dragons in the distance froze mid-flight before they could process what was happening.
Kent tapped into the absolute ice nature of his ice, causing the temperature to drop even further. The absolute ice form of the ice is so dreadful that even the dragons with a cultivation base of Empyrean and Life stage started finding it difficult to approach Kent.
Even staying in the air seems to become a problem. The cold is just too much for them to bear.
The Sea of Forsaken Swords descended.
But Kent didn’t wait for them to reach him. He quickly released the arrow.
BOOOOOOM—
The arrow erupted from the bow like a divine punishment, tearing through the sky with a howl that split clouds apart.
The impact was immediate.
Ice met corrupted steel.
CRRRRRRRRRAAAASH!
The swords didn’t shatter as one would expect. Instead, they froze, then, with a loud explosion, disintegrated into frozen dust and were wiped from existence.
The arrow kept going, exploding continuously, its trajectory unbroken, shooting straight toward the forsaken immortal who had cast the technique.
The nature of the arrow is to explode ten times before completely coming to an end. Every time it explodes, the swords aimed at Kent are affected.
However, it goes beyond that. The shockwave from the explosions spreads far and wide, freezing all whose resistance to ice is weak or just unlucky enough to be much closer to the explosion.
[Master, be on guard, something weird is happening.] Suddenly, before even the arrow could reach the forsaken immortal, Kent heard the tower’s cautious warning in his ever attentive mind.
