Chapter 1497: Grab a Bite — Fight
"Master, are you sure you are not too tired to be walking right now?" Lene asked, hugging Kent’s arm as they walked toward the restaurant.
Spirit Painting is different from normal painting.
It requires one to tap into the astral planes to infuse the painting with the very essence of the soul. Since Spirit Paintings can be manifested, it requires a connection to the astral plane.
Normally, Kent wouldn’t have to worry, provided he had a Spirit Brush. These brushes are created with a connection to the Astral Plane already established within them.
So when using such a brush during the painting process, the painter wouldn’t have to tap too much into their soul essence.
Kent doesn’t have that, so he was forced to use his soul essence for all three paintings. Also, since the paintings he had painted aren’t exactly simple, it drained him more than he expected.
"I am fine, Lene. I just need a few hours to recover." He had already sent his soul body into Kenna’s spirit pool inside the Soul Universe, so as they walked toward the restaurant, his soul was being replenished with both the pure essence of the Soul Universe and the Spirit Pool.
Lene nodded, and while they were being watched by thousands due to how cute they both looked, they didn’t seem to care.
After about 10 minutes, they walked into a restaurant and booked a table. Kent sat down and closed his eyes, letting his soul strength recover much faster.
Thankfully, with how vast his soul universe is, he managed to recover about 60% of his soul strength before the food was served. He picked up his chopsticks and started eating.
Lene followed suit and, like her master, started eating to her heart’s content. Since all food prepared in this world is made from spirit ingredients, eating them strengthens the body, mind, and soul.
"This food is delicious," Lene said, taking a bite of the spirit meat. Savouring the taste, she let the energy wash through her body.
Kent smiled.
After a few minutes, he asked Lene a question:
"How far are you from becoming a god?"
Lene set her chopsticks down and wiped her lips before answering.
"I have already formed my law of self. The only thing left is to find a God Ascension Platform and inscribe it into the Dao Mountain. Then, after I take the tribulation, I can finally step into the Early God stage."
She smiled and added, "Considering I have already tempered my body to the peak of the Immortal stage and even cultivated my soul to the god stage, I am sure I have already taken a step onto the path of god ascension. I only need the ascension tablet at this point."
"That is wonderful, Lene. I am sure sooner rather than later, we will find a God Ascension Tablet for you to use." Kent also set his chopsticks down before adding in a serious tone, "Though I can’t help but wonder if you are open to a new way of ascension."
Lene raised her brow. "Are you talking about the Ancient Path?"
Kent nodded, not surprised Lene already knew of the Ancient Path. After all, all his wives are walking that path, and she has been with them ever since she returned from hell.
It was only normal that she knew about it.
"Big sister Vexthra had already explained how it works to me, and to be frank, I want to take that path. However, Master has to know I have been a god before, and so becoming a god again wouldn’t be too hard for me.
If I pause my ascension and choose to walk the Ancient Path, it wouldn’t be for another thousand years before I can ascend. And as Master said, we have to be ready for what is coming. So the earlier I become a god, the better."
Kent laughed and reached for Lene’s hand. "You are right to think that way, Lene. Becoming a god is indeed the most important thing for you now.
But I think you are forgetting one thing: the fact that the dangers we will face this time are going to be dangerous is all the more reason you should walk the dual path.
Walking the path of the Dao and the Ancient Path will not only allow you to embody the essence of the Dao, but your domain will be absolute."
Kent cast his mind back to when he met Zaila’s past self. Back then, he was put in an illusion that kept him in what looked like a vivid life till the god stage.
The illusion ended with him returning home after the battle he embarked on was over, only to find the dead bodies of his loved ones.
"You know, I was once put in an illusion where I reached godhood. Inside that illusion, I fought beings from the ancient past. Most of them wielded absolute domains, the kind even I struggled to suppress.
These absolute domains are the manifestation of the Dao itself. If I had an absolute domain back then, perhaps my battles would have ended much faster.
That is why I decided to let my wives walk both paths. If they were to face someone like that one day, I want them to be able to match them in every aspect.
So maybe consider that. You will still be a demigod on the Dao path, and as your primordial soul grows, so will your power.
I want you to reach at least the 500th layer of the Dao mountain during your ascension. That would put you among the most powerful gods in the universe."
Lene nodded.
"I guess I was worried for nothing."
She was indeed worried she wouldn’t be there to aid her master against the gods when the need arose. However, hearing his words now, she knew she had worried for nothing.
They resumed their dinner like a couple. However, a few minutes later, Kent sensed a gaze directed at them. Lene also sensed it, but she did not think much of it.
Since the person was merely looking, they said nothing. Their focus remained rooted in their food.
However, although they showed no reaction, the person looking at them frowned. After all, he is an Immortal Emperor, surrounded by three beautiful Immortal Kings.
If anything, he expected them to notice him and react since he made it rather obvious. However, Kent and Lene ignored him completely, almost as if he wasn’t there.
This infuriated him, so he picked up a chopstick and, tapping into his Immortal Emperor strength, flicked it, sending it flying toward Kent’s head.
In his mind, Kent is just a Heavenly Ascension stage cultivator, and Lene is a True Immortal. Suppressing them is as simple as flicking a chopstick.
However, to his shock, the moment the chopstick was half a meter from Kent, Kent turned sideways and flicked a single corn kernel, meeting the chopstick in a silent clash. The two items struggled for a few seconds before both exploded.
Kent finally turned and looked at the brat who chose to start a fight with him despite doing his best to keep a low profile.
The others inside the restaurant turned and looked at the altercation, some quickly pulling out their recording devices.
The dragon smirked and spoke coldly:
"Judging by how polished your armor is and the fact that you have a sword, yet look nothing like a swordsman, tells me you are a greenhouse flower that has been sheathed for who knows how long. It would be in your best interest to save yourself the humiliation by going down on your knees and apologizing to my majestic self."
