Chapter 1520: The Talk (1)
Chapter 1520: The Talk (1)
When Kent and Inaya appeared in the harem tower, they didn’t jump into each other’s arms right away.
While it was the most logical decision they could have made, given the state of their relationship the last time they saw each other, they both knew there were some things that had to be said first.
In both a logical and emotional sense, it appeared Jest had abandoned Inaya.
From her perspective, Jest left her for her mortal enemy. Jest was aware of the dynamics between her and that woman, yet he betrayed her with such a vixen.
That is unforgivable.
So while the love he had for her still burned like the morning sun, that soothing warmth wasn’t there for Inaya like she would have loved.
In her mind, Jest abandoned her, so that had to be cleared out of the way first.
However, before any of that, Kent took her around the Love Garden, introducing her to the beautiful surroundings.
There may have been some hatred in Inaya’s heart toward him; however, the beauty of the harem tower wasn’t something she could frown upon, not when, deep in her heart, she was still that loving lady who suppressed the hatred in her heart to find love.
They walked around for half an hour before arriving at the Love Pool.
They removed their footwear and sat on the edge, sinking their feet into the cold water. They remained in that state for five good minutes before Inaya finally asked the question.
"What happened, Jest?" she turned and looked at him. "You told me to wait for you, and I did, but you never came. Why?"
Kent sighed, knowing the reason would take more than a few words to fully explain—at least that would have been the case if this were him, with memories of only his life as Jest.
Thankfully, he had Chaos memories too, so he knew the source of it all. This narrowed down his words. However, it was still a lot to say, and a bit difficult to say... unless.
"Before I tell you what happened, I have a very important question, and your answer will determine what I can say and what I can’t."
Inaya looked at him for a few seconds before nodding.
Kent took a deep breath and then spoke the words Inaya never planned on hearing this early... "Will you marry me?"
"Huh..." Her eyes widened, disbelief appearing on her face. She blanked out instantly.
Kent smiled and shook his head. "Will you marry me, Inaya? I know it is sudden, but before anything, I want to know."
Many thoughts ran through Inaya, causing her to sigh a few times. Before they parted ways, they indeed had plans to marry in a grand wedding.
While their reputation as the Blood Sword couple made them enemies of many swordsmen, they also had many friends they wanted to invite to the wedding.
However, that never happened, and after billions of years apart, the same magical words were asked again.
She didn’t know what to say. Well, she knew what she wanted to say; it was just that she never expected herself to say it.
In the end, she said it, a sigh escaping her lips afterwards...
"Yes."
Kent smiled and gave the Tower the signal to add her to the harem. In no time, Inaya felt the connection form between them. This made her look at Kent with a suspicious gaze.
"It is a long story, one that I will tell you soon. But first, let’s focus on what happened back then."
She nodded, and Kent started to speak.
"It all started during the Primordial Era, when I was known by all as the Primordial Chaos Dragon."
"Huh..."
"Oh, I forgot to introduce myself. Before it all began, I was called Chaos, a dragon born from a lone egg. Later, after some not-so-easy decisions were made, I died and reincarnated as a slave who aspired to be free and roam the universe, fighting one swordsman after another.
After years of longing, he indeed gained his freedom, and so he embarked on his quest to become the greatest swordsman to ever live.
He achieved his dream, but at the cost of his love and happiness." Kent paused and looked at the small brown cloud forming in the sky.
"I never planned to abandon you, Inaya. I did so because I found out that coming to you would be the end of you and our unborn children. I was destined to have two children with you, live a happy life, and raise our children into amazing warriors.
However, in the end, I was meant to kill you all. I was meant to kill all three of you with my bare hands, and the reason for that was due to the heart demon I developed during the Primordial Era."
Dia’s image appeared in Inaya’s head. "Does this have anything to do with Dia?"
Kent nodded. "Yes. However, the whole story involves Unity. You see, during the Primordial Era, I had this one friend who fell in love with me at first sight. It is a bit weird, considering the first time we met, I killed her teammates in the most brutal way possible.
However, she fell in love with me, and while I never knew what love was, she tried to teach me. Long story short, I failed to realise that until it was too late.
After her death, I became crazy and burned with the passion for revenge, so I did. I let go of everything she taught me, and for years, I embarked on a chilling journey of slaughter and bloodshed.
Along the way, I caught sight of a young archer. She was the light of her family and everyone she met. She was destined for greatness, fated to be someone worthy of her name. However, she abandoned everything and started following me.
I knew she was following me, but I never tried to make her feel at home until her last moment. I was filled with so much hatred that I failed to see that her friendship was what I needed at that moment.
After she died, I did what I always do best: I avenged her. However, her big sister, for reasons I didn’t know until today, blamed me for her death. She, of course, wasn’t wrong. Artemis died because of me, so I was to blame.
However, the hatred toward me grew to the point that she became someone else entirely. Later, when I met her, we fought, and in the end, I had no choice but to end her misery.
However, by killing her, I invoked a curse in the form of a heart demon that would hunt me down for the rest of my very long lives.
That was why, during the divine era, after I returned from my last search and found nothing that would help me find a path to the Sword Celestial stage, I gave up and chose to come to you as I promised.
I planned to build a family with you as we planned. I planned to hold a grand wedding like you wanted, inviting all our friends and enemies alike.
I even planned to invite the Grim Blade Supreme and use the cover of our wedding to secretly kill him.
However, on my way to Planet Genesis, I met her. They called her the Horror of the stars back then. Of course, I didn’t know who or what she was, so we fought for several months. In the end, after I managed to suppress her, I discovered her true nature.
She was my heart demon, something that came as a shock to me, yet I completely believed her.
After all, I felt it deep within me and knew, with every fibre of my being, that if I went against what she showed me and came to you, the perfect family we would have built would have been destroyed by me, no thanks to my insidious heart demon."
