Chapter 1610: Undead Pagoda

Chapter 1610: Undead Pagoda

The Astryx were the most peaceful race in all of the forgotten Universe.

In their millions of years of living, no Astryx had ever killed, not even animals such as goats or fowls. They believed in the notion that all life matters, and so all life must co-exist.

Then the Corrupted King came, and everything they knew and loved was thrust into corruption. As beings who lived within the stars, they saw everything that happened, and inasmuch as they wished for life to be spared, they could only watch.

Eventually, every life was corrupted, and so the Corrupted King turned his sight on them.

As beings who had never killed, they had nowhere to run and no warriors to save them. They were basically helpless before the terror of the Corrupted King.

The moment he reached their doorsteps, all life would be lost.

They knew that, and so they made peace with themselves. However, nine of them resisted. They were okay with being killed, but being corrupted wasn’t something they wanted.

So on that day, nine deaths, the first ever to happen among the Astryx, occurred, and it was nine people killing themselves.

Legend has it that when the Corrupted King arrived, all Astryx were corrupted and joined the Corrupted Legion, a legion said to have the power to bring down an entire universe.

However, legends also speak of the awakening, the day nine untamed warriors, ones forged in the dark flames of death, became weapons that cannot die.

That day, the first undead were born, wielding power over both life and death.

Legends speak of the day nine undead warriors stood facing a legion of hundreds of billions.

The forgotten books highlighted the smiles on their faces when they dove into battle, and for 6000 nights, a great battle rocked the forgotten universe, breaking its foundation for good.

The Corrupted King fell, and so did his Corrupted Legion. All that stood after this carnage were nine undead warriors, beings forged for one thing and only one thing: Battle.

Kent stood before nine stone statues, each oozing an aura that made his skull tremble. When he dropped his blood on the Undead Pagoda, his entire body vanished, and he appeared in this strange place where a book lay on a table.

On the pages, he read a narrative that describes the birth and legend of the First Undead. According to the book, in the vast multiverse, the first-ever undead were beings who chose to end their lives rather than be corrupted.

They had never killed even a bug before, yet they killed themselves rather than be corrupted. In the books, he saw when they were reborn and what they accomplished afterward.

Right after he finished reading the book, he was taken to a place where nine statues stood before him.

"I believe these are the nine undead I saw," Kent muttered, looking from left to right. Each undead he saw was unique in its way.

Each looked terrifying, more terrifying than anything Kent had ever seen. However, the statues standing before him, while intimidating, looked more human to him.

It made him wonder whether these were the human forms of the nine terrifying beings he had read about in the book.

He turned around to look for something else. Unfortunately, it was completely dark. The statues were the only visible things there.

Kent sighed, looking at the suffocating darkness before him. "Makes me wonder why I am seeing all—ouch,"

Suddenly, a pebble struck Kent from behind, causing him to turn and look at the perpetrator. Turning back to the statues, he saw a man seated on the shoulder of the first statue.

Soon, his gaze snapped to the other statues, and there, seated in different postures, were the Nine Undead, the same beings who faced an army of an entire universe and walked away unscathed.

Kent’s heart skipped a beat when his gaze landed on these people.

He sensed no pressure coming from them, yet he felt like he was merely a bug standing before overlords.

It must be noted that Kent has the willpower of a demigod chaos dragon, a celestial swordsman, and a celestial evil king. But despite all that, he looked like a bug before them.

But who is Kent, if not one of the most dangerous beings in the universe? His dragon intent moved, and the inferiority he felt was lessened by a few percentages.

There are five males and four females.

"Are these seniors the First Undead?" Kent asked, his voice steady.

A beauty with long, silky white hair and sorrowful eyes giggled and waved her hand, causing Kent to float up. He did not panic, but he didn’t feel safe either.

He was ready to unleash a terrible soul attack at a moment’s notice, even if that was the last thing he would do alive. Thankfully, he did not have to do so, since the lady meant him no harm.

"We are indeed those Nine Undead. However, this isn’t our true body nor soul. In fact, what you are looking at right now are our 100th shadows. If we appeared in our 99th shadow, you would be broken and half-dead on the floor by now."

Kent’s brow furrowed.

Seeing this, the nine undead laughed.

Bisa, a long, green-haired, handsome man that Kent would later get to know as the Plague Tyrant, spoke:

"I can tell you are someone with great potential, kid, perhaps the best in the entire universe. However, you have to know that in the vast multiverse out there, there are those who have powers far beyond your understanding.

What Edha said was a bit exaggerated. The current version of us you are looking at right now is akin to a demigod in your universe, and that is just our 100th shadow."

’Just demigods, and I feel so small. How the hell are they this powerful?’

The man seated on the first statue seemed to hear what Kent was thinking.

"Don’t beat yourself up, kid. The current you has yet to meet your true potential as a true immortal. In fact, you haven’t even reached 20% of your potential yet, so it is normal to feel small."

He cleared his throat and nodded with a smile on his face. "You are an Absolute, so you have no limit to yourself. The only thing holding you back is your own self. You must challenge yourself and unlock more of your hidden potential."

Kent was taken aback.

To him, he believed that after he became an Absolute, that was all. But now, he never expected to hear this.

’When Paragon said I have yet to meet my true potential, he wasn’t kidding.’ Kent smiled. ’Hold on a minute, how did Paragon know I had yet to meet my potential?’

Suddenly, an image of a white-haired young man appeared in his mind, prompting him to wonder just what kind of existence the Paragon is.

’If I am merely at 20% of my potential, then how can I become 100% even though I am an Absolute?’

Realization finally dawned on Kent. ’This universe is not large enough to require me to go to the extreme. The void beast I faced before isn’t strong enough for me to go to the extreme.

This can only mean one thing: I am not preparing to fight the Void Beasts or the Forsaken Race. My enemy isn’t going to be like the previous ones I’ve faced.’

He lifted his head and looked at the nine people staring back at him with varied expressions.

"My name is Kent Madson, the Primordial Chaos Dragon, the Genesis Swordsman, the Divine Beast Tamer, and the King of Evil. I pay my respects to the Nine Undead Generals."

They all smiled, and Kent felt something within him snap.
