Chapter 1701: Avalon

From the start of the battle, Kent knew Elina wasn’t used to her abilities just yet. The power of the Nine Tribulation Dragon wasn’t something that could be mastered easily.

However, to think she was able to hold her own for 30 minutes, Kent realised something wasn’t right. He knew Elina better than anyone.

When they met during the Primordial Era and became friends, Chaos, being sceptical about humans, made it his mission to study her and capture everything he could about her. This led him to know all about Elina’s battle style.

What she had displayed now wasn’t something the old Elina could do. This made him wonder if it had something to do with the star tattoo that he knew was linked to the mysterious Avalon.

Kent let go of Elina, taking away his dagger while a smile remained on his lips.

"Nice battle, Elina. It’s just that I am too monstrous for your current mastery and control of your power. Perhaps, after you get the hang of your new powers, we can spar again."

She nodded, unsummoning her weapon and armour.

She then jumped into Kent’s arms and locked him into a fierce kiss, one that lasted for ten good minutes. The kiss contained her happiness, gratitude, and a promise to treasure the gift Kent had given her.

Kent smiled and nodded. "I can see that, Elina. They look cute, just like you."

She blushed and turned to face Vexthra, Pandora, Yukiko, and Umai.

"I am a dragon now, sisters."

They smiled and hugged her, making sure she understood how happy they were to see her happy, too.

After sharing a long and heartfelt hug with her sisters, Kent went straight to the point.

"Elina, my love, what can you tell me about the star tattoo on your forehead?"

Elina instinctively reached up to touch the star tattoo on her forehead.

"This... It is the Mark of Avalon."

Kent furrowed his brow.

"Mark of Avalon. Is Avalon a person or a place?" he asked.

However, Elina shook her head.

"I do not know."

Kent was a bit disappointed she wasn’t able to provide any tangible detail. However, before he could say anything else, Pandora asked a question.

"How did you get it?"

The question made Kent turn back to Elina, whose body visibly trembled, almost as if she had recalled something terrifying.

"What is wrong, Elina? Are you alright?" Kent asked, wrapping an arm around her shoulders.

Elina took a deep breath, then exhaled before replying.

"I am fine. It’s just that I felt a bit scared when Big Sister asked that question. The truth is, I would rather forget how I obtained this star mark because it was terrifying."

She exhaled again and, noticing that Kent wanted to know, continued.

"During the last moments of my transformation, my consciousness was taken to a place of absolute darkness. I had no idea where I was or why I had been brought there.

For what felt like an eternity, I was just floating there. However, a few seconds before I returned to my body, I saw the most terrifying sight. A reddish-gold eye opened within the darkness, and when I met its gaze, I felt something open inside my body...

Then I returned to my body with all this knowledge of how to wield the Nine Tribulation Dragon, fight with the glaive, and use many other terrifying techniques."

Elina’s body trembled again.

However, to Kent’s absolute shock, Pandora’s body trembled as well, fear appearing in her eyes.

Kent was shaken by the sight.

Naturally, Elina’s reaction was normal. After all, she was fragile by nature, and she was also much weaker and younger than Pandora, so being scared was natural to her.

But he never expected the Queen of Evil, who had already stepped into the Primordial Stage, to show such a reaction.

But she did, and that told Kent something.

Whoever Avalon was, they were scary. He was torn between whether Avalon was a person or a place. Now, he knew Avalon was a person, perhaps even a beast, and judging by Pandora’s reaction, even a Primordial was scared of them.

"I don’t know who this Avalon is, but I know they are far stronger than a Primordial. Perhaps you should hold off on investigating them for now."

Kent nodded, but he wasn’t satisfied with just this.

He recognised that Avalon was stronger, far stronger than anything or anyone he had met so far.

However, if that was the case, what did any of this mean? Was Avalon a threat or an ally? Most importantly, why had he given Elina the techniques and his mark?

So many questions remained unanswered, causing Kent to grit his teeth and sigh. He would find out more about Avalon when he got to the Cult of Wisdom.

If there was a place where he could learn something about such an entity, it would be the Cult of Wisdom. Kent decided to push everything to the back of his mind for now.

For today, celebrating Elina’s transformation into a true dragon was the most important thing.

"We should celebrate," Kent suggested, and his wives nodded, every last one of them up for a good celebration.
