Chapter 1705: Bond Between Brothers
Chapter 1705: Bond Between Brothers
Nobody expected things to get bloody in an instant.
To many who witnessed the start of it all, they knew Sahir was done for, and that conclusion was reached because he was merely a mortal, while the six High Mages were Immortals.
However, in what appeared to be the most unexpected turn of events, Kent killed all six of them without batting an eye.
In that instant, everyone knew what would follow.
A sect values its core disciples so much that their lives are tied to the Life Crystal Hall, a relic within the sect.
As long as a crystal remains whole, it means the one whose life was tied to it was still alive. However, the moment it cracks, it signifies either death or grave danger.
Today, the one in charge of monitoring the Life Crystals in the Grand Arcane Mage Sect suddenly turned pale when a Life Crystal shattered. His body froze, and for a moment, he doubted what he had just seen.
However, a few seconds later, after five more shattered, he was forced to accept reality, sending him running out of the room.
He crossed the 30-kilometre distance in less than five seconds, bursting through the door leading to the Grand Hall, where the Sect Master and six high-ranking elders usually gathered.
"Who dares disturb us?" Elder Haneul shouted, veins bulging on his forehead. A terrible pressure descended upon the Life Crystal Guardian, forcing him to his knees.
"Relax, Haneul. Let’s hear what he has to say," Sect Master Kaidrenn stated, causing Elder Haneul to withdraw the pressure.
"Speak," Elder Haneul shouted.
"They... They shattered," the Life Crystal Guardian muttered. He caught his breath before adding more context. "The Life Crystals of six disciples shattered."
"What?"
Sect Master Kaidrenn and the six elders with him exclaimed, their expressions turning grim. He waved his hand, and all of them vanished from the room, appearing inside the Life Crystal Storage Hall.
When their gazes landed on the shattered Life Crystals, their expressions darkened. Every last one of them became so enraged that the room trembled.
"Who dares kill disciples of my Grand Arcane Mage Sect?" Sect Master Kaidrenn shouted, his voice spreading throughout the sect.
DONG! DONG! DONG!
Bells rang from every corner of the sect, and disciples and elders alike started gathering at a clearing. Whenever bells like these rang, it meant the sect was under attack, so they came running.
However, when they arrived, they saw no battle. Instead, they met the sight of the Sect Master and the six Grand Elders working together to open the Grand Arcane Gate.
Most importantly, they saw a flicker of a soul hovering before the gate.
Most recognised who the soul belonged to.
This caused them to widen their eyes since the only way this soul would be out is if the owner is in danger..
"Isn’t that Big Sister Fiona’s soul?" a disciple asked his friends, who looked wide-eyed.
"It is her soul. But why is she here, though? Shouldn’t she be contained within a Life Crystal or whatever they call it?"
His question went unanswered when the Sect Master spoke.
"All inner and outer disciples, channel your energy into the Arcane Gate. Core disciples, maintain its stability, and sect elders, follow me inside."
It is well known that the Grand Arcane Mage Sect possesses a method of travelling between planets using a tremendous amount of soul energy.
With enough soul power, they can tear holes through the void and travel to any planet within mere seconds.
Today, using Fiona’s soul as a conduit, they decided to hunt down the one who dared kill their disciples. Since the victims had been slain, the killer would bear their resentful marks, making it easy to track him down.
The moment the gate opened, Sect Master Kaidrenn jumped in, followed by the elders and Grand Elders.
Back on Planet Dormaa, after slaughtering the six High Mages, Kent turned and looked at Sahir.
"Sorry for coming too late, brother." Kent apologised.
After all, when he received the quest to find Sahir a couple of weeks ago, he should have immediately dispatched the shadow fiends. Instead, he waited a little longer before doing so.
As a result, he had nearly arrived too late.
Had he been only a few minutes later, perhaps Sahir would have suffered an even graver fate. Fortunately, he arrived just as things were about to escalate.
Even so, he was still pissed to find his sworn brother standing at death’s door.
"Young man, you have to run now before they arrive," Lady Abba said, shivering from the horrific incident that had unfolded inside her restaurant.
She knew she was finished. After all, six High Mages had died in her establishment.
That was not good, and as someone who knew just how unreasonable Immortals could be, she began to panic.
"Take Sahir with you and run."
Kent turned and looked at the woman he had originally intended to kill, but later changed his mind about. It turned out that teleporting to the location of his shadow fiends takes more time than teleporting to his wives or legion, especially the farther away they were from him.
So, while on his way, he witnessed how Lady Abba initially tried to convince Sahir to comply with the High Mages’ demands. However, he also saw how she later pleaded on his behalf.
Right now, hearing her warn him despite knowing that when those people arrived, she would likely be the first to die, made Kent forgive her.
However, he was not about to leave.
"They are coming, huh? Better. They would save me the headache of going to them myself."
Of course, he had no plans to go after the Grand Arcane Mage Sect. He came for Sahir, not to cause unnecessary trouble.
However, since they were coming to him, he would wait and make sure his fame spread even further.
"Relax, Sahir. Once everything is over, I will take you back home and make sure every weakness you’re feeling now becomes a thing of the past."
Sahir nodded, and once again, he wondered why he did so. A part of him felt at ease knowing Kent had his back. However, he kept wondering why he trusted him.
Of course, he had heard Kent’s name before.
Who hadn’t?
However, this was their first meeting. That meant they had never met before, so how could they be brothers? As far as he could recall, his late parents had never told him he had another sibling.
So why was Kent calling him brother?
He tried to make sense of everything but came up empty.
Kent could tell Sahir was struggling to understand what was happening. Judging by the look on his face, he was struggling greatly. Even so, Kent said nothing, knowing that everything would make sense soon.
The quest that helped him locate Sahir Came with rewards that would restore Sahir to his previous peak state.
Suddenly, the clouds outside churned violently, prompting everyone inside the restaurant to rush out. Many people outside also sensed the terrifying pressure emanating from the heavens and immediately started running.
BOOOOOM
Suddenly, a bolt of lightning descended from the clouds, blasting a hole through the restaurant’s roof.
Inside, Kent waved his hand, creating a shield around himself. Sahir, Lady Abba, and a few others chose to remain.
"The one who dared kill disciples of my Grand Arcane Mage Sect should come out now and accept his punishment."
Sect Master Kaidrenn’s voice descended from the clouds, shaking the entire planet.
"Why don’t you come instead? I’m too lazy to walk right now."
Kent responded, and another bolt blasted the roof clean off this time.
