Chapter 1742: Blood Sand Berserker
Chapter 1742: Blood Sand Berserker
The auction continued with the fourth item, but Kent and his wives had tuned out since the item up for bidding wasn’t something they wanted. In fact, they chose to ignore everything and focus on their own enjoyment.
Meanwhile, far away on another immortal planet, three of his wives—Liora, Princess Lovina, and Enzi—had arrived at the location where their mission would take place.
Their mission had brought them to a planet called Zhrakn. It was a desert planet inhabited by a race of Sand Demons whose nature is quite mysterious to many.
They had only interacted briefly with other races in the past.
However, they had later retreated to the deeper parts of their planet, where ordinary demons and humans could not reach. Nobody knew why they had done that, but as the years passed, they remained there, and most people eventually stopped paying attention.
Five years ago, they sent out a distress signal suggesting they were in danger. Upon investigation, it was discovered that they had been kidnapped—or rather, driven into a corner—by a very powerful beast called the Blood Sand Berserker.
Many had tried to hunt down the beast, but none of the thousands that went after it ever returned. Obviously, the beast wasn’t an ordinary one. Over time, people stopped bothering to go after it, leaving the Sand Demons at the mercy of the Blood Sand Berserker.
Kent had received a quest to kill it, but since his wives had chosen missions of their own to embark on, he handed the quest over to Liora, Princess Lovina, and Enzi.
They had arrived on the Sand Planet two days ago and had been tracking the Blood Sand Berserker ever since. Their mission was simple: kill the Blood Sand Berserker.
After two days, they finally managed to locate it. The three ladies then found a place to camp for the night.
Liora, being the assassin of the team, had scouted ahead to map out the terrain. After a couple of hours, she returned with both good and bad news.
"So, what is the good news?" Princess Lovina asked, handing a spirit fruit to Liora.
"The good news is that the battle will take place in a forest filled with dried plants. That will create plenty of shadows I can use to my advantage. However, the bad news is that the ground is made entirely of sand. After observing the beast for a few hours, I noticed it uses the sand far more effectively than the quest described.
"In fact, the reason so many people never returned was that the beast’s control over the sand is incredibly advanced to the point that this planet is a weapon it could harness. We’d better prepare for that and make sure the battle doesn’t drag on, or it’ll end badly for us.
"Apart from that, I think I know where the Sand Demons are."
Liora took a bite of the fruit Princess Lovina had given her before pointing at the ground.
"They’ve been imprisoned beneath the sand, and the Blood Sand Berserker has been feeding on them for years now.
"The only way we can save them is to kill the Blood Sand Berserker and make sure it never gets the chance to harm them during the battle. This meant it must be isolated from its natural domain."
"I’ll handle controlling the battlefield," Enzi said, and her two sisters had no doubt she would be able to do exactly that. Her affinity for the Glass Element perfectly countered the Sand Element.
Of course, with her extensive control over the element and the fact that she was now an Immortal King, she could do far more than simply use it for movement.
Their opponent was obviously a Demigod. However, even as an Immortal King, Enzi knew she would be able to keep the beast away from the sand for a while.
Liora had already reached the Immortal Monarch stage, so with her already extensive experience in controlling shadows and wielding the Darkness Element, her assassin abilities would come into play.
She had been a member of the Midnight Shadows before she became an alchemist. However, now that she had abandoned her alchemist path and had fully embraced the daggers once more, she had never stopped training.
She had already reached the Shadow Legend stage, making her someone comparable to a Sword Legend. This meant her assassin abilities had become even more refined and deadly.
However, while Liora and Enzi were indeed powerful warriors, Princess Lovina was the strongest member of the team.
She had already reached the Immortal Lord stage, and on top of that, her poison abilities had already transcended those of an ordinary Immortal Lord.
Princess Lovina now possessed a Poison Domain, so regardless of how dangerous her opponent was, as long as she could contain it within her Poison Domain, she could either kill it or weaken it.
She had also ventured into the combat aspect of her Poison Mage class, so she wouldn’t simply stand at the back and watch.
"I feel like we can win this easily if we put our minds to it," Enzi said, and her sisters nodded.
They indeed could win easily. However, to do that, they needed the element of surprise.
---
Three hours later, a shadow moved across the dunes of the brown desert; her destination was a forest filled with thousands of nearly dried-up plants.
Within the forest, a beast that resembled a lizard-rhino slept lazily on the sand, its body radiating a terrifying Demigod aura.
The Blood Sand Berserker was a massive, hulking creature with the body of a rhino and the scales of a lizard. Its skin was a deep burnt-orange color with darker, almost black stripes running along its back.
Its eyes burned like embers, four horns protruded from its head, and its claws ended in deadly talons. Just one deadly attack from it, and that would be all.
Liora knew she needed the element of surprise to unleash her attack, so she didn’t rush her movements. She carefully limited her speed, making sure she could approach within 200 meters of the Blood Sand Berserker without revealing herself.
Five minutes later, she was still 300 meters away. However, she paused and began observing the beast. After another thirty minutes, she resumed moving.
However, the moment Liora emerged from a certain shadow, the sand around her suddenly shifted, and a dome of crystallized sand instantly formed around her.
"I hate shadows the most."
The beast suddenly spoke as it turned its massive body toward the dome, trapping Liora.
"You think I didn’t notice you the first time you came to spy on me?"
Its enormous body lumbered toward the dome.
Within the prison, Liora attempted to break free, only to discover that it was far sturdier than she had anticipated.
However, she didn’t panic. In fact, she wanted the beast to come closer so she could do exactly what she had come to do.
Just as expected, the Blood Sand Berserker, believing it had already won, crossed the 200-meter mark and soon stood only 50 meters away from Liora. In the past, it has used this method to kill many.
At that moment, Liora smiled and activated her technique.
"Midnight Realm."
Darkness instantly engulfed the surrounding space, robbing the Blood Sand Berserker of its vision.
However, the darkness itself wasn’t Liora’s objective.
It was the momentary blindness she was counting on...
And she was right to choose this move, because the instant the Blood Sand Berserker lost its sight, Princess Lovina appeared.
With a wave of her staff, a sea of poisonous lotuses bloomed into existence. Then, as though they had been programmed to detonate one after another, the entire forest was instantly shrouded in an extremely dense, poisonous mist, so potent that the Blood Sand Berserker immediately sensed the poisonous danger.
