Chapter 1895 Blood Messengers
Chapter 1895 Blood Messengers
Kent turned pale simply because he clearly knew what followed when Eliza put on the smile she currently had on her face.
The last time he saw that smile was when she snatched the Blood Seal scroll and dove into the Blood Gate.
From the little memory he has of that life, he never forgets that smile.
Before coming to this planet, Kent received a quest that required him to save Eliza, who happened to be his stepsister and also one of the most dangerous female warriors to ever walk the face of the universe.
She was also the general of the Blood Hounds, a legion formed by the Blood Spear King.
Kent had yet to recall all his memories, but the quest gave him enough to know just when to be cautious. Right now, from the little he remembered, the smile on Eliza's face said she was ready to kill.
Perhaps the elders of the Blue Horn Tigerkin Family also sensed her killing intent, so their hands reached for their weapons, their battle modes activating automatically.
Kent knew he had to step in, so before she could charge at the nearest Blue Horn Tigerkin, he teleported and appeared before Eliza... "Hold back now, would you, stepsister?"
"Why should I stop?" Eliza complained. "Not only did a bastard from their family try to force himself on my sister, but they even had the audacity to chase me down, nearly killing my sister in the process. If anything, you should be helping me rid this universe of such filth."
She was angry, and Kent knew it. But he and Cassius were old friends, and since he had promised to speak on his behalf, he knew he had to keep his word.
"I know they have wronged you, Eliza, which, from where I stand, is unforgivable. In fact, I had recently given the order for an entire family like this to be slaughtered, and while I wasn't the one who did it, it goes without saying the job was well done.
So, inasmuch as I would love to see blood flow, for my sake, spare them this once. I mean, their ancestor had literally descended to step in for them. He even brought this."
Kent presented the primordial-grade blood essence that Cassius had offered in exchange for the lives of his people.
Looking at the blood essence, Eliza furrowed her brow. "Oh, good stuff."
She reached forward and took the blood essence. Kent didn't mind since it was offered to her. He merely held on to it for her.
That said, he would love to get his hands on something like that, as it would greatly help him. But he allowed his greed to settle for now.
"So what do you say, Eliza? Are they safe, or do I still have to convince you?"
Eliza stored the blood essence away and turned to look at Cassius... "I don't know what kind of relationship you have with my stepbrother, but since he seems to like you, I will let today's events slide."
She turned and looked at the matriarch of the Blue Horn Tigerkin Family. "However, by a year from now, I expect 100,000 Supreme-grade beast blood essences to be delivered to me right here. Failure to meet these demands will cause me to reach for my weapon."
She smirked. "Let's just say nobody wishes to see me touch my weapon."
Cassius smiled and nodded. "Thanks for showing mercy, Blood Harvester." He looked at the matriarch and spoke, his tone dropping low... "Be sure to meet her demands before the one year is over."
"I will make sure it is handled, Ancestor," the matriarch spoke, her head lowered.
Eliza smirked and turned to look at Kent, who held a smile on his face. She deactivated her weapon and was about to walk toward him when a sudden explosion came from the sky...
"BOOOOOOM"
The explosion was so loud that even Kent flinched. However, before he could turn and look at where the explosion came from, a terrible pressure came from the clouds, causing everyone, Kent included, to drop to their knees.
He managed to land on his feet, but the pressure crashed down hard, causing his legs to buckle and almost all the blood to drain from his face.
"Wh-What is happening?" Ruby asked, struggling to lift her head.
Seeing this, Kent, against all odds, tapped into every last core he had, and using the power, he enveloped her and then, using the willpower he could muster, sent her straight into the tower.
The moment Ruby was gone, he crashed to his knees, blood coming from his nose. Then, as if he were the main target, a beam exploded from the sky, and in the blink of an eye, it arrived before Kent.
It was only when it was mere inches away that he saw it was a spear.
Kent had practically no energy to do anything.
The little energy he could harness was what he had used to send Ruby back into the tower. But even if he had any ounce of power, the spear contained so much power that he couldn't have done anything.
Luckily for him, just before the spear could pierce his chest, a hand reached forward and grabbed it.
"Hmmmm."
Cassius hummed, his gaze narrowing toward the direction the spear came from.
He thought about throwing the spear back where it came from, but before he could, the spear turned to blood mist and vanished.
From the clouds, a large crack opened, making it feel like the heavens were coming down. Just as it opened, two large hands came from it, grabbed both sides, and pulled.
CRAAACKKKKK
The crack widened some more, increasing the pressure. By this point, Kent was at his limit. However, before he could lose consciousness, Cassius placed his hand on his shoulder, and almost as if the pressure wasn't there, he felt okay.
He did the same for Eliza, who was faring much better than Kent.
"Hahahahahaha..." From the large crack, laughter came. "After billions of years, we have finally returned."
Kent narrowed his eyes and was about to ask who dared invade the universe when a red flag bearing the insignia of two cracked skulls and a jaw came from the crack...
"Blood Messengers..." Kent and Eliza muttered, turning to look at each other.
