Chapter 845: Clearing The Sword Bridge [Bonus]
Chapter 845: Clearing The Sword Bridge [Bonus]
"Here we go again."
Kent said as he began walking toward the 6th level of the Sword Bridge.
The last time he challenged the sword bridge, he nearly died when he used an attack that he wasn’t meant to have or his body could handle.
Of course, back then, Kent was hungry to have finally managed to create a powerful sword attack capable of killing those several realms above him.
Safe to say he succeeded, but in the end, he couldn’t use it ever again until he became a Sword King. However, he managed to clear the 5th level.
However, he passed out immediately afterward.
This time, he plans on clearing all eight remaining levels.
The moment he stepped into the 6th level, the space around him changed. He appeared inside an empty arena where his opponent, a redskin copy of him clad in red armor, with a double sword sheathed behind, was waiting for him.
"Took you long enough." The redskin clone said as it started pulling out the two swords sheathed on its back.
"Oh, you can talk now," Kent asked with a slightly shocked expression. The previous clones he killed couldn’t talk, so this was a new one.
"Prepare, this won’t be like the previous ones." The clone didn’t answer his question; instead, it began to prepare.
Kent nodded, already aware of what had to be done.
He locked gaze with the red clone, and before long, they both moved.
Kent sped up and closed the gap between him and the clone.
Of course, like every good old-fashioned sword fight, they both took a big swing.
The clone brought both swords into a powerful slash against Kent’s neck and arm.
Kent also took a big swing, one filled with considerable strength.
However, just when the swords were about to meet and a cacophony of metal symphony, Kent grinned, and then he vanished. The next second, a sword appeared through the clone’s chest.
"Sorry, but I have become much faster since the last time we met." With that, he pulled out the sword, and the clone dissolved into sparks of golden light, entering Kent’s body.
All of a sudden, he felt his understanding of the sword deepen. However, that wasn’t all; his sharpness and decisiveness also showed some slight improvement.
That brought a smile to Kent’s face. "Looks like I will be seeing you again soon, Mr. Sword Dao."
The small growth in his ’Edge’ made him happy, as it showed he had already started making progress and would soon reach the point he was meant to achieve, unlocking the second form of the True Sword path legacy.
"This is amazing, I now have 10 split bodies." Kent shook his head and smiled. The tower then gave him an idea that made Kent want to try it immediately.
⟦Since the master has awakened Sword Body, why don’t you try merging the split bodies into the sword body?⟧
"That is genius, Tower. I never thought of that before, but I will try it now."
With time on his hands, Kent sat down and activated all ten split bodies and also activated his sword body.
⟦All the master has to do is channel the split bodies through the sword body. There will be some discomfort, but bear it and it will all be worth it in the end.⟧
Kent listened to the tower’s instructions and applied them.
He channeled the split bodies through his sword body.
Like passing one’s hand through water, Kent felt the split bodies enter his own and began to pass through.
His body felt weird.
"It feels squishy," Kent said, feeling all the squishiness as he continued to channel more split bodies.
The first ten passed through, and the process repeated itself three more times, but no change happened. However, Kent never stopped.
He continued five more times.
Then, from the 6th time, he felt the weirdness in his body slowly start to die down until eventually, he felt nothing else.
Then, after a few more channelings, Kent felt it...
The change he had been waiting for happened, and at the very moment, a message appeared showing what he had gained.
⟦Congratulations. You have learned a new skill: Clone Body.⟧
⟦You can now split your sword body into clone bodies. All clone bodies can only use sword-related skills. Also, the clones can unleash only 70% of your total strength.⟧
"This is good enough. At least now, I can unleash ten clone bodies, and even though they will only be able to use 70% of my total strength, I have broken a limit on my body, so there will be more energy in them than one can expect."
Kent stood up and was already pumped to dive into the 7th level so he could test his new skill.
When he appeared on the 7th level, he was sent to the same arena. This time, his opponent was dark red and seemed even more formidable than the last one.
However, Kent had one thing the clone didn’t have, and that was his clone bodies.
When he unleashed his ten clone bodies, the battle ended in under five seconds.
The moment the clone bodies appeared, Kent felt his mind split into eleven parts, one for each clone and the 11th for his own true body.
The rest was merely him using two clones to attack and act as dummies for the 3rd clone. In fact, he didn’t even use any active skills. The clone just unleashed an attack using sword aura, but the outcome was immediate.
The only downside was that when the first two clones died, he felt some mental fatigue. But that washed away in the next couple of seconds.
He realized the fatigue would only weigh him down if more of the clones died during combat. So he did not let any of the clones die on the 9th and 10th levels.
However, he also saw the stress that goes into using the clone bodies.
Aside from the mental fatigue, he also saw that using more clones is stressful. So he adapted, and in the 11th battle, he used just one clone.
The opponent was powerful, and the battle lasted much longer, but with the clone aiding him, Kent was able to handle it.
Kent even went a step further and shortened the time it took to handle the 12th level.
By the time the 12th-level battle ended, he saw another use for the clone bodies.
This time, he discovered that, regardless of how many clones he used in combat, the outcome wouldn’t be much stressful if he used them the right way.
So when he finally reached the 13th level, he used three clones, and that was when he realized what a monstrous skill he had unlocked.
With the added ability to swap places with the clone bodies, Kent became unstoppable.
Not even one attack from the level 13 clone managed to land on him. It was as if his movement was enhanced, and the faster he moved, the quicker his instincts developed.
"I guess it was fun while it lasted. Now, I am a Sword Saint, and I have become much stronger," Kent smiled.
"But the grind still continues, and now, I must see what the tower has for me." Kent sat down on the Sword Bridge and accessed the tower interface.
