Chapter 859: Building Trust
Chapter 859: Building Trust
Adina looked at Kent weirdly, unsure if she wanted to reply to him.
Though Kent saved her when she desperately needed saving, she was now unsure if she could trust him.
It wasn’t that she had a choice but to work with him to handle the mercenaries, but now that she had a moment to think, she started to suspect Kent.
But she also saw Kent’s strength, and that gave her the confirmation that Kent was no ordinary person, despite having a cultivation base that was many stages below hers.
Of course, she also disliked men, which added to her skepticism.
"My name is Kendra." In the end, she gave Kent a fake name. If she could, she would have already vanished, but she knew it wasn’t that simple at the moment.
Kent smiled and walked toward a cliff overlooking the vast land before him.
"First of all, you dont have to lie to me.
I am a human lie detector.
That said, your name is Adina. You are a succubus and the Sin of Lust. I know you are trying to reach the Teleportation Mountains, and while you don’t know this, ten more teams are coming after you.
Now, I don’t know if you also know this, but this valley is dangerous, and even if you have a way to get to your destination, I don’t suppose you can dodge all ten teams and the potential beasts lurking."
Kent turned toward her and smiled before saying, "I can get you there if you can trust me, and don’t worry, I have no plans on hurting you.
I have a life to get back to, and the faster I get you to the Teleportation Mountain, the quicker I can return to my life."
Adina didn’t talk, but Kent could tell from the weary look that appeared in her eyes that she was now more wary of him than ever.
’Just who is this person and how can he know all this about me?’ Like the tower said, if she gets the chance, she will kill Kent.
However, a part of her kept telling her not to do anything stupid.
Of course, as someone who had abstained from sex all her life, she was even more wary of Kent, who was a male—and a handsome one at that.
So, aside from not having many reasons to trust Kent, she was also scared of what spending a few moments around him would do to her.
After all, she may have abstained, but she was a succubus, and this isn’t the dream garden where only women surround her. Kent is a man, and as such, she was scared of him.
"Use this time to think about whether or not you want to trust me. But we have to move now and find a place for you to heal first," Kent said, starting to fly away.
After standing there for a few seconds, Adina took to the air and flew after him.

[200,000 miles away from the location of the battle — The Wandering Demon Swordsman POV]
A red-skinned demon holding a jagged black sword and clad in tattered cloth suddenly appeared inside the Valley of Torture.
He appeared in the domain of a Level 5 Root Sovereign Serpent beast, which immediately lunged at him with poison when he appeared.
However, without even looking, he swung his sword, sending a wave of razor-sharp, profound sword aura, shredding the serpent instantly.
Blood flowed from the body of the serpent, but didn’t remain on the ground.
The moment the serpent was shredded into many pieces, the red-skinned demon inhaled, and the blood turned into a red mist that flew into his nose.
"Haaa."
The red-skinned demon exhaled.
"This place will be fun for a while. But first, I need to look for that bitch."
A bat wing appeared behind him, and with a speed several times faster than Kent’s, he took to the sky and was many miles away in an instant.
He is the Wandering Demon Swordsman, a Level 2 Heavenly Ascension stage cultivator and a Sword King.
While Kent doesn’t even know it yet, one of the requirements to become a Sword Sage has arrived in the same valley he was in.
And with the Wandering Demon Swordsman after the person Kent is protecting, they are eventually bound to meet.

Meanwhile, Kent and Adina were currently flying toward the mountain that the tower recommended. It had no beasts lurking around and was a good spot for a quick escape in case they were tracked there.
Kent first scouted the mountain and, after making sure it was indeed empty, he led Adina in.
"Rest for now. I will stand guard and plan out the next path." He took out a few fruits from his tower storage and handed them over to her.
"Eat. They will help speed up your healing."
Adina accepted the fruits but didn’t immediately start eating them. Kent said nothing more and walked away from the cave.
He had already marked her, so even if she were to run away, he could easily find her. The only thing he was worried about was somebody killing her.
But wasting time to convince her she could trust him wasn’t something Kent was looking forward to, so he left to get a good read on the map and find a way to reach the Teleportation Mountains much faster.
Back inside the cave, Adina kept staring at the fruits for several minutes before taking a Spirit grape fruit and slowly placing it in her mouth.
Of course, when she bit into it and the energy washed into her body, her eyes widened. She immediately took another grape and ate it.
"This is a Spirit grape fruit... and... and there are a lot of them."
She couldn’t believe her eyes.
Something so rare that to get it, one would have to spend millions of spirit stones, had just been given to her as if it were an ordinary fruit.
She quickly checked the other fruits, and to her shock, they were also rare fruits worth millions, perhaps billions.
"Where did he get this many fruits?" She quickly stored some in her space ring, planning to give them to her sister once they reunited. Then she started eating the small amount she left on the plate.
In no time, she was completely healed, so she decided to cultivate the residual energy in her body, which began to raise her cultivation base.
Ten hours later, she opened her eyes, leveling up to the Level 4 Spirit Lord stage. Her mind had also become much stronger, and so had her soul.
She sat down and started to think of her next plan. Now that she had reached Level 4, she felt even stronger, so she began weighing her options.
However, just a few minutes into her thinking, Kent walked into the cave holding a chunk of grilled meat.
It was the thigh of a beast, and judging by how dripping and oily it was, Kent had gone deep into the grilling process.
"I have mapped out a path that will take us far from this place. Let’s eat first, and I will explain everything."
Using a dagger he bought from the tower store, he started cutting small chunks. After that was done, he passed a plate full of the meat to Adina before he started eating his share.
"There is no poison in it if that is what you are worried about," Kent said when he noticed Adina’s gaze on him.
Of course, he went back to his meal the next second, ignoring the stares coming from Adina.
