Chapter 904: The Apocalypse (8)
Chapter 904: The Apocalypse (8)
The charge that came from both sides came to a halt in an instant.
Every last person turned toward the direction of the sound, and for a moment, they all broke into a cold sweat.
A large red door, about 4 km high and 10 km wide, was slowly opening with an oppressive and forbidden aura. The more it opened, the more sinister the aura coming from within.
As it opened halfway, every last person standing in the air was forced to land on the ground. The only ones that remained were the Vampire King, a few royal vampires, Lady Enzi, a few elders from the sect, Kent’s undead Legion, and his wives, who were currently present on the battlefield.
Some of the kings and queens in Sonox, along with their ancestors, also remained in the air. Not even the five-seeded core disciples remained in the air.
The pressure was too much for them to do anything but land.
"What is that?" Unity asked, pointing at the door.
"That is the Forsaken Door." Vexthra appeared through the crack, bringing with her all of her sisters and Kent’s Legion, including the Bloodvein Tribe.
"Big sister, what is the Forsaken Door?" Unity turned to Vexthra, and so did everyone else.
"The Forsaken Door is like a portal that opens to the Forsaken Race. Basically, when this door is fully opened, the Forsaken Race will come through, and the first thing they will do is slaughter everyone, including children.
Naturally, this world is coming to an end if we don’t fight back."
"Tch, talk for yourself. Forsaken Race or not, they are my allies, and so I don’t even have to worry about you all. In the end, you all will perish like you should have 25,000 years ago."
The Vampire King laughed, his voice echoing across the landscape as he stared at the faces of the warriors of Sonox.
"What an idiot," Vexthra spoke, causing the Vampire King to stop his laughter. He frowned at Vexthra, but deep within his heart, he knew that moving for an attack would lead to his doom, so he merely stood back and pointed at her.
"Keep running your mouth bitch. When they come, I will be sure to enjoy watching you choke on your own blood."
"I think I will be the one to enjoy watching that. After all, if what I know about the Forsaken Race is true, the first people they kill whenever they invade a world are those who helped them get there.
In this context, you idiots helped open the door, and knowing only the blood of the cursed can seal it again, they will kill you or enslave you and use you to open more doors in the future.
Also, even if you manage to escape, because you aided a Forsaken Race in breaking their world-bound curse, the heavens will punish you severely.
Basically, the only chance you have at surviving now is either to face them and hope you survive or just wait for death."
Vexthra, being a goddess and the first wife of a genius named Kent, felt like talking to the Vampire King was beneath her, so she turned toward Sect Leader Deimos, Lady Enzi, and Lady Liora.
"My name is Vexthra, a Flame Demon and the first wife of Kent." The three looked at each other, unsure why they felt the need to bow before Vexthra. The issue about her being Kent’s wife wasn’t even registered in their heads, for the sight of her alone mesmerized them.
’Maybe I still don’t have enough handle on my divine aura,’ Vexthra smiled in her head.
"Kent is not here now, and as the three strongest in charge of this world, I want you to mobilize only the able warriors you think can fight those above the Core Formation stage."
Lady Enzi frowned, hearing Vexthra’s words. "Are you saying the beings coming are above the Core Formation stage?"
"Yes. The Forsaken Race is only found in the High World and above, so naturally, those coming will be above the Core Formation stage. And the painful part is, they will not be restricted by this world’s limits.
So be quick with that, for the survival of this world hangs in the balance."
Vexthra then turned to Kaizo. "You will lead the charge, and please, know that until the last one of them is slaughtered, the battle will not end."
"Don’t worry, big sister, I will be sure to send these suckers to hell."
Vexthra just smiled. If it were up to her, she would have chosen Neomi to lead the charge against the forsaken race. However, the quest stated that Kaizo was to lead it.
She did not know why he was selected, but she trusted the orders of the universe, and so she would not disobey.
Sect Leader Deimos turned to the warriors of Sonox and began making sure every last one of them knew the danger that was coming.
However, even after knowing the danger, every last one of them chose to stay and fight for their world. He wanted to use force to send away those he knew did not have the means to fight. However, in the end, he chose to let them stay.
Meanwhile, Lady Enzi and Liora moved to the side. "Are you sure you don’t want to leave?" Lady Enzi asked.
Lady Liora sighed deeply and then shook her head. "This is the world of my disciple. It is in danger, meaning my disciple is in danger. If I leave without at least doing anything to save it, how would I face my master then?"
"But you have really tried over the past years to reach where you are now. Are you sure you want to throw that away?"
Lady Liora smiled. "My dear friend, one of the reasons why I chose to join the Midnight Shadows was to fight for the right cause, like my lord, the Faceless Assassin, did millions of years ago.
This is a righteous cause, and so, as much as I would love to walk away from the light, the battle coming requires both Lady Liora and the Silent Angel."
Lady Enzi sighed and then nodded.
"Just be careful, and don’t get swallowed by the chaos."
As the only person who knew Lady Liora’s true identity, she was worried about her friend. Though Lady Liora chose to let go this once and try to save this world, Lady Enzi already knew how this would end, and so she was prepared to do everything in her power to ensure her friend was safe after all this was over.
The door continued to open, with only a few inches left before it fully opened.
"Be ready, everyone. It is going to be a deadly battle." Kaizo smiled, ready for what was coming.
A few seconds later, the door opened, and a Peak Spirit Emperor stepped through, unleashing her presence.
The moment all eyes fell on her, the resolve to join the battle was shattered, and many began running away.
Vexthra shook her head but said nothing.
"I will only say this once: surrender, and you might live a few more days. Resist, and every living soul in this world will die..." The lady spoke coldly, causing many to take a few steps back.
The Vampire King flew forward and knelt on the ground. "This humble servant was the one who aided in opening the door. Please, have mercy on my race."
The lady looked at the Vampire King coldly and waved her hand. "Kill the cursed ones first."
The ground began shaking the next second, bringing a smile to Kaizo’s face. He looked toward Alina and smiled.
"Alina, I need her head."
