Chapter 940: The Perfect Plan
Chapter 940: The Perfect Plan
In the many shocking things Lady Azela had anticipated, sitting across from a mere Core Formation brat who claimed he could save her was the last thing she expected.
However, no matter how many times she wished this situation were merely a dream, Kent never seemed to vanish from her sight, making her impossible dream a stark reality.
"If you keep staring at me like that, people are going to think I have kidnapped you, and that wouldn’t be pleasant for us—especially you," Kent said, chewing on a chunk of meat.
Lady Azela neither touched her food nor spoke a word. She simply gazed at the scene before her eyes, while simultaneously observing the one unfolding within the Soul Map.
The entire 80,000-kilometre radius lay bare before her vision. Even with her peak Heavenly Ascension Stage cultivation, her sensing range had never been this vast.
But even if she could normally stretch her senses so far, she would never be able to pierce through formations in the way the Soul Map allowed her to.
At the far end of the Central Region, she saw the Old Monster from the Blue Flame Pill Palace seated with three others, all waiting for news of her whereabouts while also keeping their senses spread out.
"Do you want to hear what they’re saying?" Kent asked.
She silently nodded.
Although the voice aspect of the soul map consumed more soul essence, Kent possessed more than enough soul essence to spare.
With a thought, he triggered the hearing function and restricted it to the old man and the three other heavenly ascension cultivators.
Their whispers spilt into Lady Azela’s ears.
"The Vice Leader has sent the word. The elders have already made their way to Planet Nictus and surrounded the sect.
If she somehow manages to sneak out of here before we arrive, they will seize her before she gets within ten thousand miles of her sect.
The Vice Leader himself is also lying in wait for the Old Witch to emerge from the sect. He brought with him the Soul Extinguishing Pill. Even if he cannot contend with her, that pill will end her for sure."
Lady Azela trembled in her seat, and even Kent’s brows furrowed when they heard the mention of a Soul Extinguishing Pill.
As an alchemist with profound knowledge of countless pills, Kent knew well that the Soul Extinguishing Pill is one of the deadliest combat-type pills in existence.
All one had to do was channel their energy into it and throw it at their target. Though the user would sustain soul damage, it was nothing compared to the devastation awaiting the one struck by the pill.
In Kent’s eyes, using such a despicable method to kill an enemy was nothing short of barbaric.
If struck by the Soul Extinguishing Pill, your soul will first split in half, then a painful and piercing torture will follow, one that will ensure you will continue to scream even after you die.
It is the worst kind of pill an alchemist wouldn’t ever dare dream of concocting if they have a shred of sanity in them.
The old man nodded, a faint smile tugging at his lips.
"Vince is always decisive. That is one of the many reasons I made him my vice. If he manages to take down both the mother and the daughter at once, I will step down and make him the leader."
A grim smile crept onto Kent’s face.
"I must kill him before returning home... However, first, I will kill his vice and wear his face to finish the job," he muttered, his words dulling the fury that was burning in Lady Azela’s eyes.
"You make it sound as if killing a Heavenly Ascension Stage cultivator is simple," she said, gazing at Kent with an unreadable expression.
"Who said it is simple?" Kent replied coolly. "It is not. But it is not impossible either. And since he is already marked for death, I will make it happen."
Lady Azela didn’t say a word. She could tell from the expression on Kent’s face that he was deadly serious.
If she had only just met him, she might have doubted his resolve, but after witnessing what he was capable of, she began to think that perhaps the brat sitting across from her wasn’t so simple after all.
Kent suddenly lost his appetite. He raised his hand and snapped his fingers, instantly sealing the space around them.
"First, we have to leave this city and this planet. However, we won’t be going to your planet right away."
Her brows furrowed. "Where would we be going then, and why can’t we go to my world? My mother’s life is in danger."
"So long as she remains within the sect, I’m certain she will be safe."
"Yes, she will be safe. But she is someone who worries about my safety. If I remain away for too long, she will start to panic." A distant look flickered in Lady Azela’s eyes.
Kent chuckled softly. "It’s cute, really. At your age, and she still worries so much about you, what an amusing mother-daughter relationship." Kent laughed.
"Don’t worry, we’ll head to Planet Aerithyne first. I have some business there, but it won’t take more than a day. After that, we’ll head straight to your world."
Her expression calmed down a bit. She studied Kent for a few minutes and said.
"I don’t know if you know, but with the sudden appearance of a Pill Monarch and the backing of a Pill Sovereign, the Blue Flame Pill Palace is already moving to overthrow the Pyris Pill Alliance.
Their influence is vast and terrifying. Leaving this city under my disguise is nearly impossible—especially with Lord Poe around."
Kent scoffed. "Leaving this city is the easiest part. Killing the one named Vince, who possesses the Soul Extinguishing Pill, is the real challenge."
Though Kent was immune to soul attacks, he knew the Soul Extinguishing Pill was no mere pill he could take for granted. It contained a potent form of resentment capable of burning a soul itself, leaving its victim begging for death.
He had no intention of testing its effects on himself.
Lady Azela steadied her breath, though her calm gaze was fixed on Kent. "Do you have a plan?"
"Of course I do," Kent replied, his voice steady, "I have the perfect plan."
Leaning forward, he channelled his soul energy into his right index finger and drew a glowing symbol in the air.
As soon as it formed, he pressed it against Lady Azela’s forehead. In an instant, she felt her cultivation plummet from the peak of Heavenly Ascension down to level 5 Spirit King.
Her eyes widened in shock. "What did you do to me?" she asked in a panicked tone
"Simple," Kent said calmly. "I temporarily suppressed your cultivation to the Spirit King stage. Even if they test you, it will register as nothing more than that. Unfortunately, until I remove the seal, you’ll only be able to use the strength of a Spirit King."
Her frown deepened. "What about my disguise? It is not absolute."
Kent smirked again. He tapped her forehead once more, sending a wave of soul energy into her body. It formed into a layer of skin that instantly trapped Lady Azela in her current disguised appearance.
"All done. With this, we can leave the city and head directly to Planet Aerithyne."
Lady Azela stared at him in silence for a long while, her expression unreadable. With a sudden sigh, she asked softly, "Just who are you?"
Kent did not answer. Instead, he stood and began to walk away. After a few steps, he glanced back over his shoulder, a faint smile tugging at the corner of his lips.
"You can call me Kent...Kent Madson"
