Chapter 946: Just Tier Nine?
Chapter 946: Just Tier Nine?
For a moment, the entire fifth floor of the pagoda became quiet like a cemetery.
None of them, regardless of how much they hated Pill Saint Flura, could fathom just where Kent gathered the courage to ask that last question.
’Why the long face, are you scared?’
The sentence was echoing in their heads as they looked at Kent, who held a small smile on his face. Lady Azela stood behind him, her face expressionless.
Naturally, she was equally taken aback, for she never expected Kent to accept the challenge of a Pill Saint and, to some extent, taunt her.
’So when he said he had a business here, this was what he meant,’ she wondered while keeping the calm look on her face.
Thanks to seeing a much more shocking side of Kent in the past few days, she was able to handle this one well.
However, the onlookers, Niki and her young miss Pill Saint Flura, weren’t that lucky.
The shocked and angry expression on Pill Saint Flura’s face was just too much for everyone to ignore, and they knew what was about to happen.
Pill Saint Flura exploded in anger, one that caused her aura to flare out, pushing Niki and Lady Azela back.
Naturally, Lady Azela was but a Spirit King, with Flura recently stepping into the Spirit Lord stage. So she was much stronger than her in her current body.
She took a couple of steps back, and her eyes narrowed. However, she restrained herself when she realised she was but a mere Spirit King.
Aside from that, seeing Kent’s hand behind him like an unconcerned citizen, she sighed in her heart, though she was taken aback for a moment there.
Kent looked at Pill Saint Flura, who now had a shocked expression on her face.
The anger she felt was now replaced by shock, and even, to some degree, a scared expression, as she saw that Kent didn’t even take a step back after she released her Spirit Lord cultivation.
"Not impressed," Kent said with a chuckle and a look of contempt, "I met Core Formation cultivators with stronger auras than yours. If your alchemy skills are as weak as your aura, then you might as well give me the Pill Ascension token so I can be on my way."
Kent flew to a stage prepared for the competition and sat behind the one without a cauldron. He waved his hand, and a cauldron he bought on his way here appeared.
He turned and looked at Pill Saint Flura, who still couldn’t understand what had happened. For a moment, she felt insulted; however, when she saw the badge floating before her eyes, she knew this was real.
"A mere Pill Grandmaster dares be arrogant before me." She grabbed Kent’s Pyris Alliance Pill badge and threw it at him. Kent caught it in a firm grip.
Although he couldn’t retrieve items from the tower storage, sacrificing his days in the past could open a small window of opportunity for him, so he sacrificed 70 days just to retrieve his pill badge.
It was painful, but Kent knew he needed it.
He also promised himself that before coming to the past again, he would put everything into the Soul Universe.
"I may be a mere Pill Grandmaster who dares accept your challenge. But what about you? A mere Pill Saint dares be arrogant, challenging those she knew she could win over." Kent looked at the pill around for a moment before turning back to Pill Saint Flura.
"If a Pill Saint from the top-ranking Pill Alliance were to come, can you defeat them?"
The question hit hard, but Kent wasn’t done...
"All you did was throw a challenge against the weak and less experienced just so you can feel better." A look of disgust appeared on Kent’s face...
"As an Alchemist, I have to say you are a disgrace to all Alchemists. If you are that good, why didn’t you challenge a Pill Sage or even a Pill King?"
At this point, all those who lost against Pill Saint Flura and those who caught stray bullets from her were giving Kent thumbs up in their hearts.
They didn’t know where Kent came from, but they were glad he had come to offer his head on the chopping block, so they could feel better about their defeats against Pill Saint Flura.
"I don’t have much time, so if you are done looking at me with those twisted eyes, can we get to the part where I discipline you on the path of pill making?"
Seated among the onlookers was a man with sharp eyes. His focus was on Kent from the moment he announced he was from Pyris Pill Alliance.
At first, he had planned to reveal himself as the man Pill Monarch Nefeli had asked to come and ensure Kent’s safety. However, before he could make a move, Kent’s voice entered his head.
"Don’t blow your cover yet. Once I get the token, I will give it to you, like Pill Monarch Nefeli told me to."
These words made him slow down and start to observe everything.
However, the more he listened to Kent, the more he sensed the brat would be facing so much hardship in the future.
’Even if he wins and gets the token, he wouldn’t be able to move even an inch inside the Pill Ascension Realm, considering he had angered someone from that arrogant yet powerful family.’
He sighed but chose not to do anything.
Like Kent said, he shouldn’t break his cover yet, for he would be the getaway car. He was banking on the mysterious token that caused hundreds of people to accept a challenge they were doomed to fail at.
"Very well. You said your name is Kent, right? I will be sure to teach you what happens when you insult someone like me." Pill Saint Flura also flew and landed on the stage.
"Oh, please, don’t act like you are some sanctimonious person. You set this trap yourself, and so you must be prepared to be trapped in it.
As to what comes after, you will soon understand why my name is Kent."
The moment Pill Saint Flura landed on the stage, a Pill Sage appeared, and everyone went quiet.
He looked at Kent with a frown, but the brat merely smirked. He wasn’t being arrogant for nothing. In Kent’s eyes, he wanted this duel to be his debut, for it was bound to spread. When that happened, his status within the Pyris Pill Alliance would skyrocket.
Naturally, that would just be the start. He had made a name for himself as a swordsman; he planned to make one for himself as an Alchemist.
"The rules are simple," the Pill Sage spoke, "You both have 5 hours to concoct a Tier 9 Bone Tempering Pill—"
"Just Tier Nine?" Kent cut the Pill Sage off, causing the man’s face to contort into an angry one. He didn’t know if he should just grab Kent by the ear and beat his backside for his unruly behaviour.
"Sorry... you can continue," Kent said with an apologetic smile.
The Pill Sage sneered and continued, "You will each concoct a Tier 9 Bone Tempering Pill. The one with the highest purity will be the winner. Know that a Pill King will appraise the pill so there will be no mistakes."
When he ended, two lady Pill Saints brought two portions of ingredients to both Kent and Pill Saint Flura.
"If you waste both portions, you lose." The Pill Sage looked at Kent when he made that statement; however, Kent merely smiled.
"On that note, you can start..."
