Chapter 948: Triple Extraction

Just as in Swordsmanship, there are those who can wield sword energies far beyond the standards of their rank; in alchemy, dual extraction is considered to be such.

In fact, in alchemy, dual extraction is something only Pill Kings and above would dare attempt. It is considered something only the best and the brightest would ever attempt.

That idea alone was making everyone stare at Kent in shock.

The Pill Emperor, seated among the onlookers, was equally shocked. He is a Pill Emperor, but even he can’t do triple extraction.

In fact, he was still struggling with the dual extraction whenever he had two major ingredients in his furnace. At best, he can handle a minor and a major ingredient simultaneously.

But Kent had just thrown three main ingredients into the cauldron, and he was extracting the essence without a sigh of discomfort or struggle.

’If these words spread out, people are going to flip.’ A smile appeared on his lips when he realised Kent was from the same Pill Alliance as him.

Kent’s success will reflect positively on the Pyris Pill Alliance.

As for Lady Azela, she was equally shaken when she saw Kent put three ingredients into the cauldron. She doesn’t know much about alchemy. However, she knew enough to understand what Kent had done and how shockingly amazing that was.

’He is full of surprises,’ she said inwardly as she continued to look at Kent.

As for Pill Saint Flura, she was so focused on burning the impurities from the essence she had extracted from the ingredients that she didn’t even notice Kent.

In her mind, Kent is cooked, so she might as well ignore him.

Perhaps that was for the best, considering that what Kent was doing wasn’t only too shocking, but he would have made her falter, which, at the state she was in, a slight mistake would be all it would take to destroy everything for her.

After 20 minutes, Kent used his left hand again to make three more ingredients float and enter the cauldron. This showed he had finished extracting the essence from the first ingredients.

However, while that was impressive, Kent also now had to handle three more extractions while holding onto the three essences he had extracted.

The reason it’s hard is that with the single extraction, he merely had to merge the essences with each other after adding a new ingredient to the cauldron.

This is done step by step, as mixing two essences together not only follows a sacred rule but also has a defined method for every pill.

The three essences he had extracted cannot be mixed; he must hold onto them all the same, extracting the three new ingredients.

After another twenty minutes, Kent added the last three, and within an hour, he had extracted all nine ingredients.

’I have less than two more hours to go,’ Kent thought, and then looked at Pill Saint Flura, who was almost done burning impurities.

’She is rather brilliant. Looks like she is using the same method as mine. condensing while burning impurities.’ Kent couldn’t help acknowledging his opponent’s intelligence. However, he wasn’t intimidated.

If anything, he was up for the challenge.

Kent adjusted his flame strength and also began burning impurities.

’Nana taught me how to go about Clean Extraction. However, that method is too complex. I don’t have the time to look at that like I did with the method on how to do Dual Extraction.’

In truth, Nana had done more than Kent said.

Before meeting her, Kent had only four enlightenments, all of which were related to pill refining. In fact, Kent had been aiming for Dual Extraction when he learned of how amazing the Pill Princess was.

So he delved deeper into that, and when he met Nana, she took him even further. The methods she showed Kent are Dual Extraction, which, thanks to the three enlightenments he had after, has now deepened his understanding to the point where he has achieved Triple Extraction.

The second is Dual Pill Concoction, which involves creating two pills simultaneously. For that, Kent can’t start to think of it since even Pill Monarchs can only attempt that with Tier 9 and below pills.

The third, however, pertains to Clean Extraction. This method is something Kent used during the extraction process, which, from the look of things, he still needed to practice some more.

The ideal result was for him to extract an impurity-free essence from the ingredients, which, if achieved, would enable him to condense and refine the pill without concern for impurities.

If Kent had extracted the herbs one by one, he would have achieved that, but with Triple Extraction, there was some residue of impurities in the extracted essence.

However, the impurities left in the medicinal essence aren’t significant, so Kent chose to proceed with the best course of action, which involves simultaneously condensing and burning the impurities.

As he changed the flame technique, the Pill Sovereigns on the last floor and a few others on the 6th, 7th, and 8th floors raised their brows.

Most recognised what Kent was doing, and while they could do the same, a Pill Grandmaster has no business doing that. In fact, most stood from their seats and appeared on the 5th floor just to witness Kent’s brilliance.

Within minutes, a powerful Alchemist appeared on the 5th floor, but Kent ignored them all, for he knew what he was doing was something extraordinary.

Half an hour later, Pill Saint Flura’s pill formed, and the smell of a Pure Bone Tempering Pill spread all over, causing many to admire her brilliance.

It was already three and a half hours since the start of the contest, but she had already formed her pill. Naturally, that is something worth being proud of.

Pill Saints had no business concocting Tier 8 and 9 pills. Those are meant for Pill Sages. However, the brightest in the Pill Path can be extraordinary.

It was also one of the many reasons why there are not many Pill Sages with extraordinary talents.

Most Pill Saints, once they become Pill Sages, will, within months, take the Pill King Trial, which requires them to concoct three Tier 9 pills within 24 hours.

However, even without these rankings, what Pill Saint Flura had done was already amazing. However, she was overshadowed by Kent, who also condensed his pill 20 minutes after Pill Saint Flura did.
