Chapter 960: The Fourth Floor - Church Of Destruction (4)
Hearing there is indeed another way to complete the mission lifted their morale. However, with only three of them qualifying to participate in the last phase of the battle, this left them wondering just who would be the lucky ones.
Naturally, Kaizo was looking forward to being one of the three; however, he was disappointed when Vexthra called out the three names.
"The three who possess the power to face the devoted worshippers of a god are Sylara, Neomi, and Veydris."
Everyone turns to these three, and while one of them was already expected to be on the list, the other two were unexpected.
"Veydris, I understand he has the makings to face a god. However, while I am not looking down on any of them, how are Sylara and Neomi the only ones who qualify to face these scums?" Nara asked, and Vexthra explained.
"The reason is simple. Neomi has the power of faith, while Sylara literally has the powers of a primordial."
"WHAT!"
"I never knew Neomi had the power of faith," Anna said, and so did her sisters. Hearing Neomi has the power of faith took them aback.
Vexthra smiles, "Well, she does, but she doesn’t even know."
Velyra, who was standing not far from Neomi, looked at the lady she once recognised as the Mother of Killers, and she still does.
She and her kind worship the Mother of Killers, and to this day, they continue to do so.
They pray to her always, and now that they know she lives among them, their faith in her has strengthened even more.
"Does this have something to do with the Bloodvein tribe?" Velyra asked, seeking clarification.
"Indeed. When I first descended, I sensed the power of her faith in her. Back then, I didn’t know where it originated. However, after meeting your tribe, I finally saw the source of her faith power.
Their unyielding belief in her has translated into the power of faith and has been nourishing her for a while now."
"So, how is her power of faith going to help us win? I mean no offence, but how can the faith of one tribe give her the power to fight against a god? She is not even a god yet," Kaizo asked, but Vexthra shook her head.
"She is indeed not a god, nor does she have more than one source of faith power. However, her followers have something that even most gods don’t, and that is their unyielding belief and loyalty." Vexthra paused and turned to Velyra and asked.
"If someone were to tell you to deny your goddess and renounce her, what would be your reaction?" she asked.
Velyra’s eyes turned cold merely hearing the question. Even without speaking, everyone could tell what she would do if that were to happen.
"You see." Vexthra turned back to Kaizo. "Although she doesn’t have more followers than a god, she has a couple of them who completely have faith in her, and that alone is enough.
Of course, she is no goddess, but the heavenly laws are just, and as such, the moment the power of a god descends, she will also awaken her godlike powers.
This means we will be banking on the demon god to bless his people, which will activate Neomi’s powers. But even if that doesn’t happen, she is still the Mother of Killers and Rakshasa."
Everyone seemed to grasp what Vexthra had said, making them wonder the same thing.
"What about Val then?" Elsa asked. "Among us, she is the only one who could literally become a goddess. Shouldn’t she be included in the mission?"
"No." Vexthra’s response was firm. "Including her will be a recipe for disaster. In fact, including her will be like offering her to the demon god."
"How?" Lilian asked.
"Because Val is like an unclaimed egg. The current hero merely has the means to channel godlike powers for a limited time.
If she were to be discovered, not only would the demon god have a reason to come down, he would also have it within his dominion to invoke the authority of the heavens, forever making Val his slave."
"WHAT!"
"You all don’t know yet, but after you get to the immortal world, you will understand most of these things. The heavenly Laws are weird in a way, yet just.
However, for now, please be aware that Val can’t join the mission."
"Okay. However, about Sylara, how does she factor into all this?"
"Sylara is, in fact, the main weapon in this mission. The reason is simple, she is the strongest among you all." Vexthra smiled, and Sylara narrowed her gaze, looking at Vexthra to see if she had discovered her secret.
"Even Veydris can’t contend with her if she puts her mind to it."
"How?" Zareth asked, looking at the Undead Evil Vampire lady standing beside her. "How is she stronger than all of us?"
"That’s because she possesses something that will give her unrestricted power for a limited time."
"The Blood Hunger Seal," Kaizo muttered, and Vexthra nodded.
"The Blood Transformation ability she possessed once belonged to a powerful primordial being known as the Slaughter King. Of course, the true technique is not called Blood Transformation.
However, despite being a knockoff of the real deal, this technique is one that can be possessed by one person every generation. Unless the current owner dies, no new person will be able to possess it.
Long story short, the technique is something dangerous. However, Sylara learned it and even formed a Blood Seal out of it. Though she had only formed one, it was the one we truly needed at the moment.
From what I know, the Blood Hunger Seal absorbs the blood of those killed. As it grows stronger, so does the person using it.
Right now, per the standards of a Supreme High World, Sylara is no weaker than a Spirit Emperor. However, we don’t need the strength of a Spirit Emperor.
What we need is the strength of a Spirit Sovereign or even a Spirit Lord.
So even though this will cost you dearly, if you were to burn the stored essence of the Blood Hunger Seal, then not only would you become unstoppable, you would also break the shackles binding you." Vexthra winked at Sylara.
"If you know what I am talking about."
The evil demoness nodded with a smile, "I am willing to do anything to get the job done."
"Wonderful." Vexthra seemed happy. "If you indeed manage to pull this off, then not only would you three finally break those limits you so desperately seek, but you all will walk away with amazing benefits."
"I am so jealous right now," Kaizo said, lying on his back as he gazed at the sky. "I will be staying here for a while."
Vaelros and Zareth joined him. They knew their job was done, so they might as well sleep and wait for good news from Sylara and her team.
Vexthra just smiled and turned to Ingrid, "Can you see where their church is located?"
"No. But I can track their aura toward that direction." She pointed toward the north.
"I will track them and inform you once I locate the church," Elyndra, the beautiful undead who could manipulate space and time, offered, and Lani chose to escort her.
"The rest of us should head to the village and wait for them there. It will be a few days before the next and final battle happens." They nodded and soon approached the village, Alina leading the way.
