Chapter 3154: She Would Rather Fail the Task
Chapter 3154: She Would Rather Fail the Task
Ning Shu: …
She would rather fail the task.
The price was simply too much.
After a moment of silence, Wen Xing said, “I’ve already asked my system to apply for one.”
“What weapon should I exchange for?” Wen Xing muttered to himself.
Ning Shu: …
Ning Shu was left speechless. She hadn’t even seen a privilege ticket before, while Wen Xing was already contemplating which weapon to get.
The life of a task-taker was far more complex and interesting than she had imagined.
The longer she spent being a task-taker, the more she realized that.
Wen Xing, calm and composed as ever, likely became a task-taker much earlier than she did.Wen Xing closed his eyes, and two guns appeared in his hands.
He handed one to Ning Shu. “This is a weapon from an ultra-advanced plane.”
Ning Shu accepted the gun. It looked quite ordinary.
“Technically, weapons like this aren’t allowed in this plane, but it’s the only thing that can deal with these creatures. The higher-ups might even send more people over,” Wen Xing explained.
“This gun costs fifty faith points, so remember to return it to me after the task,” Wen Xing added.
Ning Shu nodded. “Got it.”
She couldn’t wait to test out the power of the gun.
With an advanced weapon in hand, the task suddenly seemed a little easier.
Although they now had appropriate weapons, the monsters were scattering and growing at an alarming rate, almost exponentially.
For every single one they killed, countless more would appear.
With the help of the copper coins, Wen Xing tracked down a monster.
Ning Shu and Wen Xing aimed at it together, but it seemed to sense Ning Shu’s feminine smell and, swishing its tail and squeaking, rushed toward her excitedly.
Ning Shu: …
Was this thing picking on the weak? If it had the guts, why didn’t it go after men as well?
They had holes too, right? It could try drilling into their chrysanthemums!
Ning Shu felt her moral compass disintegrating into dust and drifting away with the wind.
She fired her gun first. Instead of bullets, a heat beam almost hot enough to burn the air blasted the monster.
It screeched once before vaporizing completely, leaving no trace behind.
Ning Shu: Awesome!
“This gun doesn’t use bullets. It compresses air to create a powerful pressure that attacks the target.”
While he caressed the gun, Wen Xing continued, “If it weren’t for the elevated privileges we got, these weapons wouldn’t be allowed in this plane.”
Things that exceeded the state of the plane’s technological advancement would usually not be allowed in that plane.
“Will you have to return them?” Ning Shu asked.
“Yeah, they have to be returned. We’re basically renting it for 50 faith points.”
Ning Shu wanted to hammer the ground. Goddamn! The system exchange marketplace was even more exploitative than she had imagined.
Who designed this thing?
Were they so arrogant because it was built into the system and they had a monopoly on the purchases?
This weapon was really very cool, though. One shot and it could get rid of her problem at once, without leaving any trace behind.
It seemed like she should work on getting some privilege tickets as well.
With the weapon in hand, Ning Shu felt much more at ease. Her biggest worry had been the monsters’ rapid reproduction.
Now, though, these monsters could be eradicated completely with this gun.
Ning Shu and Wen Xing continued moving through the city. They dealt with numerous monsters and saved many people.
However, Ning Shu still felt that she was too weak. If she had been alone in this task world, there would have been no way she could have handled such a situation.
