Chapter 3621: The Most Favoured Woman in the Inner Palace (40)
Chapter 3621: The Most Favoured Woman in the Inner Palace (40)
70% soul power and 2,000 merit points.
Ning Shu looked at the merit points she had earned this time. She actually received 2,000 points. She wasn’t entirely sure what she had done to deserve that many, but since they were given, she would take them. Even if she just used them for snacks, 2,000 merit points would last her a long time.
What a spendthrift!
“Could you restrain your appetite for a bit and give those merit points to me?” 2333 asked.
Ning Shu nodded. “What do you want merit points for? You should let me in on your plans so we can have some fun together.”
“Merit points can be used to forge a golden body of merit. However, since you are a task-taker, you cannot simply smear all the merit points onto yourself. If you have too much merit, you will be rejected by the planes and end up disrupting them. It makes the tasks much harder to complete,” 2333 explained. “Look at the other task-takers. Do you see anyone walking around covered in glowing gold light?”
Ning Shu gave an ‘oh’ in response. “Are you trying to forge a golden body of merit?”
“No, I just feel like using merit points to buy snacks is a bit of a waste,” 2333 replied.
“I’m loaded now. Please, call me Big Sister Rich,” Ning Shu said smugly.
2333 changed the subject. “A user with the ID ‘Young Master Ronghua’ has sent you a message.”
Young Master Ronghua?
Was that not the person behind the auction house?
“Oh? What did he say?” Ning Shu asked offhandedly.
“He wants to meet you at the restaurant,” 2333 said. “He is likely there right now.”
“Alright, I’ll head over in a bit.”
Ning Shu allocated her attribute points. She had to be prepared before going to such a meeting.

Speaking of which, she wondered when Mei Ziqing would return her privilege ticket. If she ran into a problem she couldn’t solve on her own, she would be completely helpless without it.
Ning Shu quickly opened the chat system and sent a message to Mei Ziqing.
“Where is my privilege ticket?”
“What privilege ticket?” Mei Ziqing replied. “Oh, I remember now. I don’t have one at the moment. I’ll give it back to you the second I get one. If you don’t believe me, I can send you a screenshot of my attribute panel.”
“Privilege tickets aren’t easy to get. Can you believe I’ve never even earned one myself?”
Ning Shu: …
She strongly suspected her privilege ticket had gone down the drain. If she really had to, she would check the mall to see if she could buy a couple for backup.
For now, she had to settle the business with the auction house.
“To the City of Water,” Ning Shu said tonelessly. Let the storm come even harder.
She really wanted to see what kind of person this Young Master Ronghua was.
When Ning Shu arrived at the restaurant, the main hall was packed. Every person there was a shopkeeper from the City of Water.
Si Tian and Shu Bai were sitting across from each other drinking tea, occasionally glancing toward the person by the window.
‘Young Master’ was an elegant title, but this Young Master Ronghua gave off a feminine and sinister vibe. The way he looked at people was devoid of any kindness.
Though he was handsome, his aura was cold and unpleasant, making him feel like a poisonous snake.
As Ning Shu walked into the restaurant, countless pairs of eyes immediately shot toward her. For a moment, she was the center of attention.
Ning Shu scanned the hall and even spotted Hong Yu. Huh. It seemed Hong Yu had some sort of connection to this Young Master Ronghua.
Everyone stood up and cupped their hands in a respectful greeting. “Greetings, City Lord.”
Ning Shu nodded and spotted the man near the window. That was likely Young Master Ronghua.
Young Master Ronghua turned his head, and his gaze met Ning Shu’s. His eyes were dark and brooding, and he possessed feminine features on a masculine frame. Being stared at by him felt like being in a standoff with a snake.
‘He’s a dangerous character,’ the thought popped into Ning Shu’s mind.
Young Master Ronghua looked at the water-drop-shaped ordinance imprint on Ning Shu’s brow and confirmed her identity.
He didn’t invite her over, and Ning Shu stayed where she was. Si Tian stood up and spoke. “City Lord, allow me to introduce Young Master Ronghua. He rarely visits this place, so it is only natural that you don’t recognize him.”
At least there was someone to break the ice. Ning Shu walked toward the man with a polite and reserved smile on her face. “I have long looked forward to meeting you.”
Young Master Ronghua raised his eyes to look at her, set down his teacup, and spoke. “I haven’t visited in a long time. I didn’t expect the management to have changed.
“Please, City Lord, have a seat.”
Ning Shu thanked him and sat across from him.
Young Master Ronghua gave her a look and had the waiter bring out fine tea and snacks.
“I was unable to contact you previously,” Young Master Ronghua said while making a gesture for her to help herself.
Ning Shu took a symbolic sip of tea. “I was on a task. I only learned you were waiting for me after I returned.”
She couldn’t exactly fail her task just to come see him, could she?
There wasn’t a hint of a smile on Young Master Ronghua’s face. He gave off a sinister vibe, especially the way he looked at people, which was enough to give anyone goosebumps. This man clearly favored a ‘dark’ style.
“Is there something you wish to discuss with me?” Ning Shu asked as she drank her tea. Everyone in the hall was staring at the two of them.
“I am here concerning the auction house,” Young Master Ronghua said. “It was their own lack of sense.”
Ning Shu smiled faintly. The water drop on her forehead shimmered with a soft light. Her gentle smile possessed a refined, classic beauty.
“To tell you the truth, that incident was my own fault. I am not yet proficient in controlling my ordinance,” Ning Shu replied. Since he was being polite, she would be polite in return.
“Then when will the city lord be fully proficient in using the ordinance?” Young Master Ronghua asked. A small frown appeared on his face. He had never met someone who so boldly admitted their own incompetence. Of course, he knew it was just an excuse. She simply didn’t want to remove the barrier.
Judging by her aura, this woman didn’t seem particularly sharp or aggressive. He hadn’t expected her to be so difficult to deal with. Her gentle and peaceful demeanor was likely a result of her being the embodiment the water ordinance, but her core was clearly made of iron.
