Re-Awakening: I Became a Pay To Win Boss Monster

Chapter 1018: Graves

Chapter 1018: Graves

"If you’re all equal, why are some graves infused with diamonds?" Rael sighed. "You people look like you wouldn’t get hard from materialistic things, so don’t even tell me that their families cared that much about them."

And of course, Rael struck it right where it hurt. No one was ever really equal. Some of the Maiden Demons had great achievements, and simply burying them in the same place as an exile... It was disrespectful.

It did kind of irritate Rael that this guy tried to claim everyone was equal. So for the foreseeable future, Rael decided to ignore every single thing this guy said. Instead, he glanced around, focusing on the graves of everyone present.

He didn’t know how to feel. For a graveyard to be under such a holy place was a bit off-putting, to say the least. Regardless, Rael inspected some of the graves, and in the meantime, Lilith made her way to her mother’s grave.

It took a while, since from the looks of things, the graves of traitors were in the far back, hidden behind piles of bones and many other things that definitely didn’t shout equality. It sickened him, and it made Lilith feel even worse, since no matter where she looked, her mother’s grave wasn’t there.

She kept on looking. Hours passed in the blink of an eye, and even after searching everywhere, she was at a loss. She started to lose hope at this point. It hadn’t even been that long since she had last visited this place, perhaps two decades or so.

Her mother’s grave was here at the time, and if she didn’t know any better... The only reason it wasn’t here right now was simply because she had become the Demon King. Many didn’t like her. Amongst them, there were most likely Maiden Demons too.

She sighed, realizing that something like this was inevitable. She just wished that her mother could see Rael. At least once... That was the hope.

A tear rolled down her cheek, followed by another. Rael watched it all from the side, his anger bubbling. He had also looked around several times by himself, just in case she had missed it, but no... It really wasn’t there.

How petty. How disgraceful. Rael should just wipe this entire race off the map for what they had done. Should he? It wouldn’t be hard. It would barely take a thought either...

No.

Rael knew that this wouldn’t solve the problem. Turning back time wouldn’t change anything either. Sure, if he were to turn back time, the grave might be there, but her mother’s soul — at least a fraction of it, which should have been tied to the grave — would be gone.

What was the point? There was none.

Just then, Gaia’s voice resounded inside his mind.

[Technically, if you were to turn back time and then try recalling her soul, you might be able to recall her complete soul.]

But?

[But... The complete soul wouldn’t be the same as the fragment. Lilith had divulged all her secrets and many other things to the fragment, but since it’s now permanently gone, the complete soul would only have memories up until its death,] Gaia added with a sigh.

Rael thought it over for a moment. It did seem better than completely abandoning her. He did want Lilith to see her mother, after all.

So after a few minutes, Rael decided to do just that. He waved his hand, and in the next instant, a small chunk of the graveyard began moving as time rewound back to when Lilith’s mother’s grave was still there.

And surprisingly enough, it had been there just two days ago. Two days... If he had just gotten here earlier and prevented this from ever happening, he wouldn’t need to worry about it.

"Tsk."

"The grave is back...?" Lilith mumbled, wiping her tears away. Though, one look was all it took for her to realize something.

"Oh... But my mother isn’t here. It’s just an empty grave."

Yeah.

"I can bring her complete soul back, but she won’t have memories of anything that happened after her death," Rael said, glancing at Lilith. "So what do you say?"

She let out a sigh. "I think it’s okay. No, it’s fine. It’s best to let her rest. The more we bother her, the angrier her ghost is going to be. Pfft... I was just stupid to expect something like this. I knew that the moment I gained so much power, I’d need to lose many things."

"..."

Gaia, is it theoretically possible to rewind the absolute time of an area? Rael asked inwardly.

A complete reversal.

[Um... Well, yes. But the caveat is another multiverse. It’s way beyond your scale right now. And yes, I know just how powerful you are, so take it with a grain of salt,] Gaia said.

Before he could reply, she added:

[Think of it this way: there may exist over 1,000 realities right now, and even more multiverses. But that’s because no one ever had enough power to do a complete time reversal. Even your Law of Time bonus that rewinds time back by 24 hours is universal, and it wouldn’t exactly do much. After all, pretty much everyone has that ability, right?]

[So a total reversal would create a paradox of sorts, doubling the existing realities, and likely creating a second you, or maybe even thousands of beings like you. In short... The amount of problems that this would cause are far greater than what you would gain.]

So in short, he shouldn’t do it, because it was too damn dangerous. Rael hated it, in a way, but he also understood that if a second version of him arrived and began tearing up the place, there was very little he could do.

But then again, this was just him being selfish. After all, it didn’t mean there weren’t any alternatives.

Therefore, all he needed to do was revive her... But only after getting Lilith’s consent.
