Chapter 668: Gaia [ 3 ]

Chapter 668: Gaia [ 3 ]

Gaia stared back at him, then hummed.

"I’m not sure. I believe if I stick around here and branch out from this memory, I might be able to recover some more of my memories."

But...

"If you do that, won’t you just recover the memories of your alternate self?" Rael said.

She shook her head.

"This might be a memory of the past, but it could also be a memory of the future. I was once a being who could defy all logic, so I wouldn’t be surprised if this memory came from the future rather than the past."

Was she always this cheeky?

Either way, Rael nodded at her.

If it’ll help her regain her memories, then all the better.

"Can I help?" he volunteered.

She raised a brow.

"I’ve already spent two thousand years in here, Rael. I am planning to stay here for a lot longer than that."

Two thousand, huh.

So he had been here for nearly 1,000 years too, then?

It was funny how fast time passed.

Regardless of that, he felt like if she could siphon off his memories too, she might be able to connect the pieces of the puzzle together a lot easier.

So with that in mind...

"I’ll stick around. I believe we’ll—"

"Rael. I don’t think we’ll be doing a lot of chatting," Gaia interjected. "I’m going to focus on regaining my memories, so I’ll once again be in a trance. That’s why I feel like you should leave."

Rael tilted his head. "And if I don’t want to?"

"..."

"Then I guess I can’t stop you now, can I?" Gaia sighed, then pointed at her forehead. "If you want to help me, then pay attention. Whenever I get stuck on an object... or my eyes turn hollow for longer than a few hours, I want you to nudge me a little."

Oho.

So she just wanted him to be her golden retriever.

Although he hadn’t expected this to be how his next few years would go... it was worth it if it meant he could help her out.

So after listening to all her instructions, he simply nodded at her.

"I understand. I’ll make sure to help you whenever you need."

Gaia stared at him for a few seconds longer, and finally, she closed her eyes.

Then, after what felt like hours, she reopened them.

Her eyes were blurry, but not hollow like she mentioned.

So for however long this would take, Rael decided to commit to it and help her out.

Though...

He didn’t expect it to last that long.

"Gaia... you’re doing it again," Rael muttered as he moved her aside and back on the right track.

The two had a conversation a few months ago.

Or was it years?

He wasn’t sure at all.

But Gaia started coming out of her memories more frequently now.

And that was when Gaia suddenly halted.

Her eyes returned to their normal splendor, but a certain hint of profanity rested inside of them.

It was as if he was staring at an ancient being... which, of course, she was just that.

Yet aside from her deep blue eyes, her expression was the same as it had always been.

She took a few deep breaths, and then nodded at him.

"I remember everything."

...What?

"Everything?"

"I remember the last couple of eons perfectly, yes," Gaia replied plainly.

Rael paused.

"...You’re making it a bit hard for me to believe that."

"Feel free to not believe me. That won’t stop me from continuing to aid you by your side," Gaia said. "Also, I can now completely assure you that the Supreme Beast had his final conversation with me before vanishing. I know where he is located, and what his intentions were by giving you his legacy."

Before Rael could even open his mouth, Gaia spoke:

"The Supreme Beast’s only goal is to merge together the universes, and then finally destroy the Divine Realm and all of its inhabitants."

Rael narrowed his eyes. "But didn’t he already do that once?"

"He didn’t. His special perk altered the perception of every single being in the multiverse," Gaia replied calmly. "What I mean is... the multiverse existed way before the Shattering."

"...On that note, the true event that is referred to as the Shattering is the disappearance of eons’ worth of memories. All powerful beings suffered. Only me and a select few others retained our memories of what happened in the gap between the eons."

She smiled.

"Now as for why he has given you his legacy. The Supreme Beast wants you to collect every fragment he scattered throughout this universe, and after doing so, he wants you to merge every universe into one."

Rael found it a little hard to process all this information.

Honestly... he had been under the impression that he was the Supreme Beast all this time.

But he wasn’t...?

The Supreme Beast had just simply gone ahead and zapped the memories of everyone, in the same manner that Rael had done so... just on a slightly smaller scale.

Whereas the Supreme Beast wiped out eons of history, Rael just wiped out memories of himself.

It really was a weird thing to think about.

But now that they were done, and he had been given a mini goal, Rael decided he’ll follow it.

Though... merging the universes...

Could he even do that?

He was powerful, but not that powerful.

Nonetheless, as he was lost in his thoughts, Gaia suddenly snapped her fingers.

The city that had been before them vanished in an instant, and soon enough, they were back inside the forest Gaia had made.

The same forest that was in the very center of Rael’s Mind Realm.

Coincidentally, Anna was sitting not too far away, sporting a bored look.

But when she noticed the two of them, she merely waved and then walked away.

She was acting a little weird.

Still... he watched as Gaia went back to silently taking care of her forest, and in the meanwhile, he decided to sit down and process everything he had heard so far.

After all, he had just gotten a lot of information.
