Re-Awakening: I Became a Pay To Win Boss Monster

Chapter 700: Finding Gaia

Chapter 700: Finding Gaia

It didn’t take long for the two of them to arrive in Antarctica.

Though it was definitely as deserted and cold as he had heard.

Sure, he was strong enough to not feel the cold, but even so, Rael felt a chill go down his spine.

Though he didn’t focus on the cold and instead closed his eyes and began looking for the traces of mana.

There were hundreds of spots where the mana was considerably dense.

But Rael focused on one of them in particular.

It was deep under the icebergs and surrounded by dozens of anti-mana barriers.

Or that was what Rael guessed they were.

He kind of struggled to get past them.

Though Anna didn’t seem to have that same issue, as instead of searching for Gaia with mana, she abruptly shot down to the ground and created a massive crater.

A few penguins in the distance even flew up into the sky for a moment before falling into the ocean.

Rael chuckled at that sight.

But more importantly, the attack Anna had just done managed to break the anti-mana barriers.

And now he could gaze as far as he wanted to.

Yet the sight below was a little confusing to him.

There were a couple dozen underground trees, but more importantly, there was a single giant egg resting in the middle of those trees.

He guessed it was Gaia.

It sure as shit felt like a familiar egg.

"Anna, come here. I’ll teleport us down."

She glanced up at him.

Yet instead of listening, she struck the ground again, deepening the crater.

Right as Rael was about to stop her, she struck it again.

And almost like the third time was the charm, the whole island seemed to tremble for a few short moments as Rael could feel a couple dozen underground volcanoes bursting.

Whatever she was doing was akin to a natural disaster.

Though since it clearly looked like she was here to have fun, Rael did some damage control.

Everything she destroyed in a certain area, he repaired by turning back time.

The damage was reduced to a minimal level, and so she was able to drill down without any trouble.

Finally, Rael saw a few leaves scattered in the ice, and with one more hit, Anna finally revealed the underground area, as well as the massive green egg hidden inside.

"I have located Gaia," Anna announced.

Rael rolled his eyes.

"No shit. Though you could have been a bit more subtle. You know there are people who are going to riot because of global warming or something, right?"

Anna stared back at him.

"Perhaps the threat of global warming might speed up their scientific progress? I know I would try harder if I knew my world was going to end."

"..."

Rael could only sigh at her comment, since in the end, she wasn’t really that far off.

Still, he flew down and into the strange underground area.

The trees weren’t frozen, and in fact, they were radiating a bunch of mana, as if siphoning everything from the surroundings directly into Gaia’s egg.

Speaking of her egg though, the amount of mana hidden inside was the most Rael had seen in his entire life.

It was far beyond what Loki had, and definitely much more than Tiamat had ever shown.

He always knew Gaia was powerful, but maybe not this powerful?

Regardless of that, he placed his hand on the egg and closed his eyes.

A few seconds passed, and Rael felt himself relaxing significantly.

And before he knew it, he reopened his eyes, finding himself in a pitch-black Mind Realm, with nothing but Gaia’s egg in front of him.

Curious, he took a few steps forward, but right as he was about to place his hand on it, he felt someone behind him.

And when he turned around, he saw the familiar, beautiful Gaia in all her glory, standing not too far away.

"I believe you’re a bit early," she said.

Rael tilted his head.

"I don’t exactly have a timer. How would I have known I was early?"

"Maybe if you checked the message I’ve left for you inside your Mind Realm, you might have known that this process would take a few more hours or days. You shouldn’t rush it," Gaia replied, crossing her arms.

"Though let me guess, you forgot to enter your Mind Realm once again. No matter, it is partially my fault for not telling you directly."

"Right..."

Rael approached her, only to realize that her body was see-through.

It seemed like this wasn’t her actual body just yet, only a manifestation.

Letting out a sigh, Rael glanced back at the egg.

"Is there any way I can make your awakening a little smoother?"

"No. Some things just take time. My awakening is one of those things," Gaia replied patiently.

She took a few steps forward, and with her see-through form, walked straight through him.

As she approached the egg, she sat down beside it.

"Frankly, I realized my body was a little more damaged than I expected. That’s primarily why it’s taking so long."

"Damaged, how?" Rael asked, sitting down a few meters away from her.

"Someone had attempted to absorb the connection my soul had with my body. They failed miserably. However, my body activated its defense mechanism, and in doing so, damaged my nerves slightly. Even though they are easy to heal, I’m trying to be careful, as I don’t want any further complications."

Hearing that, Rael simply nodded.

If that was what it took, then it was fine.

He could wait here patiently.

Though he also had a very powerful angel race now, so he could technically help her.

But she knew that too.

And if she wasn’t asking for his help, then so be it.

"You know, I feel like this is as good a time as ever to get to know each other a little better," Rael said, inching a little closer.

"Or do you not want to?"
