Chapter 813: Treasure Hunt?
Chapter 813: Treasure Hunt?
They traveled across the Far Lands fairly quickly. To be honest, Rael wasn’t exactly expecting this place to look so normal.
But then again, it must have some peculiarities if it was so hard to access. Also, why do powerful people live here and not go outside this place?
Was there some kind of benefit he didn’t know, or was it like a prison that no one could leave?
Obviously, he thought of asking these questions to someone like Alune, but after a few minutes of flying, Alune had… well, fallen asleep atop his head.
Now, he was just holding her by her thighs and not letting her fall off him.
In short, he wasn’t sure where he was going anymore.
But it seemed like he didn’t really need to wonder anyway, since once he glanced down, Rael spotted a trail. It was like a village trail. The grass was slightly cut, and with the path leading ahead, Rael decided to just fly down there and follow it.
However, not even one step in, Rael felt an overwhelming amount of mana coming from the path below.
And before he could react, he was suddenly propelled several billion kilometers forward. Not only that, he was just barely holding onto Alune due to how fast he was going.
Of course, Gaia was right there behind him, following him very closely.
In fact, she had actually matched his speed, and now the two of them were both moving extremely fast. He assumed it was some kind of teleportation device, except that instead of teleportation, it was like an escalator.
After all, if the rules were that one couldn’t go above 100 times the speed of light here, teleportation would technically fail. After all, you’d literally be teleporting.
Well… that was his theory.
But it seemed like his theory wasn’t that far off, as just a few seconds later, the trail he had been on ended, and as he skidded along the ground for several hundred meters, he eventually came to a halt right in front of a large wall that seemed to tower as high as the eye could see.
More importantly, the wall was so wide that Rael couldn’t see the end of it.
“Uhh… We aren’t supposed to climb that, are we?”
Gaia shrugged.
“We could always dig under it.”
“Is that sarcasm?”
“Isn’t it obvious?” she deadpanned.
Haha.
Yeah.
It was kind of obvious.
“I guess I’m not used to you joking around. You’re always so serious now.”
She rolled her eyes.
“It’s because I needed some time to adjust. I can be whatever I want to be, and the person I want to be is me.”
“Thanks for the tongue twister,” Rael said. “Anyhow, I’d appreciate some solid ideas right about now.”
Instead of giving him an idea, Gaia went ahead and pinched Alune on the cheek. In the next instant, Alune flinched awake and glanced around, slightly panicked.
But once she realized that she wasn’t being attacked, she settled down and sighed.
“What is it?”
“We’re here,” Rael announced.
She paused for a moment, then glanced up.
“We are…? Damn. I don’t feel rested at all. Just how fast did we arrive here?”
Rael shrugged.
“Pretty fast. Now, Miss Alune, how do we get in?”
“Don’t call me Miss Alune. And as for how you get in… place your hand on the wall and infuse some mana into it.”
That simple?
Fair enough.
Rael went ahead and approached the wall, then, after placing his hand on the surprisingly mushy surface, he infused some mana into it.
In the next instant, the wall began to tremble. Just then, a small pathway opened up to the right of him. It expanded slightly, and now it was just large enough for Rael to pass through.
Of course, since Rael wasn’t the only one, Alune went ahead and infused her mana too. Gaia did the same.
Now, the entrance was pretty much as big as a carriage, and with that, the three of them entered without any trouble. The moment they did, the entrance closed behind them.
When it did, Rael was assaulted with the scent of several thousand spices. Obviously, he was a spice guy, so he didn’t care… but Alune, who was not only sick but also pissed off, suddenly sneezed, sending a powerful projectile of snot directly into the ground that created a miniature crater.
Once the dust and smoke faded, Rael spotted a frozen piece of snot in the ground, which vanished the moment Alune spotted it too.
“D-Don’t mind that. Also, get me a napkin, please.”
Rael rolled his eyes and handed her a napkin from the Premium Shop.
“I’d like one too, if you don’t mind,” Gaia chimed in.
So he got a second one.
And of course, once the smell issue was sorted, Rael glanced around, taking in the city around him. As it so happened, most of the houses here were made from sandstone. Not only that, the people who circled the streets were mostly humans.
Sure, there were some demi-humans, like foxes and rabbit people, but then again, the majority were humans who seemed to be extremely powerful.
Spotting a fox demi-human, Rael felt like his heart was calling out to him, telling him to go ahead and pat the head of that fox.
However, he knew that the moment he did that, he would have the whole city’s guard on his ass for harassment.
On the flip side, though, at least he could admire them from a distance.
Heh.
“Alright. So we’re here now. What do we do now?” Rael asked.
Alune glanced around. On the other hand, Gaia spread her mana all throughout the city. Then, just a few seconds later, she tapped on his shoulder and said:
“There are a few remnants here that have similar mana to yours. We could check them out right away, if you’d like.”
“Obviously.” Rael nodded.
Still, he was kind of impressed by just how small the city was. Obviously, it was well guarded because of the wall and all, and probably by the powerful people Rael couldn’t see. But for it to be smaller than Celestara… it was a little silly.
Anyhow…
“Lead the way, Gaia.”
