Chapter 815: Rael, The Platinum Detective Assistant

And look around for clues he did.

Though there wasn’t much he could find, aside from some rubble. When he thought all hope was lost, Alune suddenly gripped his hair harder and pointed at one wall in particular.

Rael immediately saw through the disguise, as the wall wasn’t actually there. He approached the wall and simply walked through it. He found himself in some kind of living-room-like area, and thankfully, there was a note on one of the sofas.

Although he was a little skeptical, he went ahead and picked up the note, then gave it a quick read.

Sup.

If you’re reading this, then I’m probably dead. If not, then I have most likely been dragged away by my lovely wife and am now having my soul drained out of me. Anyhow, if this note is still intact and it doesn’t have my seal on the top right, then I’ve probably abandoned this place.

Anyhow, finding this means you’re looking for me. Infuse your mana into this note, and if a seal appears, that means I’ve gotten your message. I’ll reach out to you as soon as I can.

With love and a slight boner,

S.B

Yeah...

That was definitely from the Supreme Beast.

Not to mention, this guy writes exactly like Rael would write.

Well, Rael would probably not sign off with love and a boner, but everything else was solid.

Anyhow, Rael inspected the note a little bit to make sure this wasn’t some trap set up by someone else, and after he was sure that it was fine, he went ahead and infused his mana into the note.

But even then, the seal that was supposed to appear was nowhere to be seen.

"It must’ve been a while since this note had been placed here. If I were to guess, then it’s very likely the surrounding mana diluted the mana inside the note, thus changing its formula," Gaia said.

Rael nodded.

"Any way you can fix it, or should I hop into the Prophetic Realm and turn back time a little?"

Gaia pondered over it for a moment, then said:

"I can try it out. Give me a moment."

She grabbed the note and began inspecting it with mana. Rael waited patiently, and on the other hand, Alune finally jumped off his shoulders.

When she landed, she immediately went over to the sofa and shuffled around, trying to find something.

Rael had already checked it, and while his sight wasn’t as good as Alune’s, he was fairly certain there wasn’t anything there.

But it seemed like he was wrong, as she pulled out a hairpin and waved it around in front of him.

"At the mention of a woman, I decided to look around. What do you know? The hairpin was hidden with mana."

Rael let out a sigh.

"You know, I’m starting to think you’re just planting these things now. Not even Gaia noticed it."

"I did notice it. I just couldn’t feel any mana on it that would be relevant to what we’re doing now," Gaia chimed in.

At those words, Rael just shrugged and decided to sit down. As for Alune, she kept trying to find something else, and lastly, Gaia seemed like she was finally done with the note, so she handed it back to Rael.

"You should be able to infuse mana into it now. The seal should also respond."

Rael nodded and tried it right away.

To his surprise, the moment he infused some mana into the note, a shiver ran down his spine, followed by his finger suddenly being pricked. A single droplet of blood landed on the note, and not long after, a lion-like seal appeared at the top right of the note.

"I can feel mana emanating slowly. It’s definitely working now," Gaia said.

"Yeah... I can feel it too," Rael replied and waited patiently.

And finally, after just a few minutes, Rael suddenly felt a connection form between him and someone far away. It was very faint at first, but it seemed like it didn’t matter, as there was one thing in particular that could replace speech.

<...>

<You called?>

"I did. Are you the Supreme Beast?"

<It depends on who’s asking. You seem familiar. Who are you?>

Seeing the pop-ups, Rael couldn’t help but sigh.

"You wouldn’t happen to be my guardian, would you?"

<A guardian? No.>

"Hmm... In that case, I’m Rael Sutekh, or Rael Altros. Either way, I’m Rael, and I’m pretty sure I’ve got your inheritance. It would be very nice if you could come around and educate me a little," Rael said and leaned back slightly.

Rael was expecting some kind of modest response, but instead, what he got was something a little different.

In fact, it was so different that before he could even utter another word, the connection was cut off.

"Hello?"

Rael tried to re-establish the connection, yet nothing of the sort happened.

It was almost like the Supreme Beast, or whoever was actually on the other end of that connection, just decided to run away.

And as if that wasn’t enough, the note had suddenly been set aflame in his hands. Once it turned into dust, Rael just sat there blankly, unsure of what to do now.

He was expecting some difficulties, maybe, since the Supreme Beast was ancient and presumably stronger than Lucien.

But to completely abandon him...?

"Is he serious?"

Alune held back a chuckle, whereas Gaia smiled slightly.

"I’ve managed to pinpoint his location. As it so happens, when he cut off the connection, he didn’t use the Law of Time to erase his traces."

"What would I ever do without you, Gaia?" Rael said with a smile, then stood up.

"In that case, is he in the Far Lands?"

"He is."

She crossed her arms.

"The only issue is that he’s quite far away. Right now, the Far Lands are pretty tame, but the further we go from the Depths, the more properties of the Abyss the Far Lands begin to take on."

"That sounds interesting. So far, everything’s been a little tame, after all," Rael replied.

Alune and Gaia exchanged a glance, then narrowed their eyes at him.

"You should be careful what you wish for."
