Chapter 899: Coincidence
Chapter 899: Coincidence
"This is... isn’t this just the Skyward World?" Rael remarked, glancing around.
He was currently in some snowy biome, and for one, it was very, very familiar.
With a single thought, he flew up to the sky and began observing everything.
He was right, this was the Skyward World, and if he looked hard enough, he could see the advanced city of his up ahead. It was... strange, to be honest.
For his world to turn into some kind of dungeon that anyone could access, it was very dangerous. What if the wrong people gained access to it? Was there even any way he could stop it?
Rather, since it was now open to everyone, just how many people aside from Melissa and Altros had entered this place?
Rael closed his eyes and focused. He tried to lock onto every single being he could find, and in total, alongside Melissa and Altros, there were eleven others who didn’t seem like they belonged here.
Gaia suddenly reappeared behind him, her expression equally as confused as his.
"I wonder why this has happened? For one, it shouldn’t be possible due to how big of a gap there was."
Rael sighed. "Shouldn’t there also be the gap of multiverses? Or is that not really a thing?"
She thought it over for a moment, then shrugged. "At this point, I don’t think the concept of multiverses really holds firm, considering you’re entering and leaving them without even feeling as little as nauseous."
Well...
She wasn’t wrong.
Did the gap really get so little though that just anyone could enter?
"Could there be someone messing with this connection?" Rael wondered. "Maybe someone had purposefully created it? I doubt it would’ve formed naturally."
She nodded. "It likely didn’t. You could try using your Prophetic Realm to see who it was."
He gave her a thumbs up. He was already thinking of it, so he decided to go ahead and do it. He entered his Prophetic Realm, and without much hesitation, he began winding back time in an area, trying to find someone responsible.
But for some strange reason, there wasn’t anyone responsible. The portal randomly appeared. There was no influence at all.
"What the hell...?" Rael tilted his head. "Should I just close it then?"
Gaia entered his Prophetic Realm and coughed from the side. "Ever heard of cutting one hair, just for that same hair to grow back in a more annoying place? Well... I’d say you just keep it. Since it’s just that world, there isn’t much of a problem. You can handle every single person there."
Rael just stared at the portal inside his Prophetic Realm before finally leaving.
The moment he reappeared in the normal world, Rael tried to do some more tests, such as sending his mana so it could react to whatever was inside, maybe finding some kind of signature that would give him a clue.
But once again, there was nothing. At that point, Rael decided to merely give up, realizing that whatever he did, it would turn out sour.
So instead, he put his attention into finding the people he had set out to find in the first place. Those people were none other than Melissa and Altros. Both of them were just roaming the snowy continent here, and from what he could guess, Melissa was lost.
After all, she had fallen into one of those huge ravines. As for Altros though... well, he fell in another less annoying ravine.
They’re both idiots, it looks like. I guess I should just go and rescue them now.
With that thought, Rael vanished, reappearing just slightly above the ravine where Altros was located. It wasn’t that deep of a ravine, but from the looks of things, Altros was in the middle of digging at the walls and trying to find some treasure.
Was that the reason he came here? Instead of rescuing his sister, he just wanted some treasure?
Ugh...
What a bum.
Wasn’t he rich enough already?
Though, bum or not, Altros did look way different than what Rael remembered. That was probably because nearly two decades had passed.
If anything, he now had a beard, his hair was shorter, and from the faint scars on his forearms, he was definitely someone who fought a lot. Probably won a lot too.
Heh.
If he had lost, Rael would personally beat the shit out of him.
Anyhow, Rael didn’t wait too long to descend, as the moment he reappeared behind Altros, the first thing Altros did was send a punch behind him. It was a blind punch, directed at just anyone who would approach him.
But since that ’anyone’ was Rael, he simply caught Altros’s fist with a single finger, making him realize just who he was up against.
Or rather, it gave him enough time to turn around and realize that he had just attacked Rael.
His eyes widened in surprise.
"The hell are you doing here? I thought you were dead," Altros said.
Rael shrugged. "I don’t really die that often. Plus, I had my reasons for not visiting you. Though those reasons aren’t very important. What the hell are you doing here?"
Altros flinched. "Here? Well... nothing too important. I was just busy um... dealing with the ice and whatever. For some reason, the ice is very hard here, so..."
He sighed. "My ice cube collection had grown a little low, so I decided to restock."
Mhm.
So he really was an idiot.
Welp.
"You can do that some other time. We need to rescue Melissa now," Rael said.
Altros nodded. "Yep. We can do that now. I felt her presence a little further ahead, so it shouldn’t take that long to rescue her..."
He trailed off, glancing past Rael.
Unlike Altros, Rael didn’t really need to turn around, as he could feel two very distinct presences behind him. One belonging to Melissa, while the other belonged to Gaia.
That saved the few second trip, but it sure as shit didn’t prepare Rael for the earful he was about to be a part of.
