Chapter 930: Annoying Choice
Chapter 930: Annoying Choice
She stared at him for a moment, then let out a sigh.
“Your true identity? Why would that matter? You exist, so keep existing.”
Rael rolled his eyes. “What if someone made me, though, and installed some kind of purpose? I don’t want to be anyone’s pawn, so I’d like to find out whatever it is before I get, well, you know, killed?”
Tiamat pondered over it, her brows furrowing slightly.
Truth be told, she had already foreseen something like this happening. She had realized just how strange of an existence Rael was from the moment he stepped through her door. It was just that she didn’t want to admit it.
After all, beings like this, who already had all the power in the universe but were practically sealed, were the biggest pieces of danger attraction in the entire universe. If she so much as said the wrong word and accidentally awakened his powers, her peace would vanish.
But by now, she had realized there wasn’t anything she could do. He had brought so much attention to her just by meeting her a second time.
Therefore, she decided to just accept it and play along.
“Why not go to the beginning of time, then?”
Rael raised a brow. “The hell’s the beginning of time? You think I can turn back time that far back?”
Tiamat shook her head. “Rather than turning back time, you could go to the very beginning of the universe. Every universe has its beginning, and they’re all connected.”
She raised a single finger. “All you need to do is go there and walk through the portal. You should be taken to a library of all your memories. I believe people refer to it as the Akashic Records. It’s pretty useless for everyone, so that place is pretty much abandoned.”
Then, a second finger.
“But for you, who needs to figure some stuff out regarding memories and your identity, it’s the best place to go. Go there, read everything, and be thankful for my help.”
Despite her actually telling the truth, though, Rael wasn’t convinced. She did say the truth, that much he was sure of, but somewhere down the line… he felt like she was missing out on a few key details.
Rather, one key detail in particular: the question of how he would leave that place after he was done. He stared at her for a few moments longer, then let out a chuckle.
“Is there something you’re hiding from me?”
“No?”
“No? Then why does this sound so easy? If such a place existed, couldn’t someone just go into it and fake someone’s identity and…”
Right…
Novelnice。comShe most definitely knew about him.
“Do you know?” Rael asked coldly.
She sighed. “You should stop speaking in riddles and just tell me what you want to tell me.”
“Fine.” Rael narrowed his eyes. “How do I leave that place, theoretically?”
“You go through the exit once you’re finished?” Tiamat replied plainly.
Her words were so crisp and clear, and her mana didn’t move in the slightest. Even his lie detection ability didn’t trigger, but Rael knew for a fact that she wasn’t telling him the truth. For that reason alone, he decided to turn toward Sylvia instead.
“What’s the prerequisite to this place? Tell me all about the Akashic Records.”
Sylvia shook her head. “I’m not your Guardian, so I won’t be answering your questions. Also, I have already warned you about watching yourself here. Please be mindful of what you say and do, as your current image reflects poorly in my eyes.”
Rael just scoffed at her words and decided to be a bit more forceful. Or rather, right as he was about to make a move, he halted, realizing that Tiamat had raised her hands in defeat.
“Fine. We can do it your way. You want me to answer you honestly? In that case, the only way you can leave that place is if you read every single book pertaining to your memories there. You could read at light speed, but you would probably still take millions of years to read a book, simply because you do seem a little old by now.”
Hm… so she did know about the exit, but it seemed like she had no idea about Rael’s memories. Rather, the memories he could buy at any moment. If he went in there and was forced to read the memories of every single person in his mind… he’d be screwed.
After all, while he might now own many of the memories, since they were connected to him, he’d be screwed. In short, this option, while technically viable, would take him several thousand eons of reading to finish.
Could he actually leave someone for so long…? Rael felt like that number didn’t even fully process inside his mind, since it was just that unbelievable.
Trillions of years, maybe even quadrillions. All spent reading day in and day out with no activity or anything else. It was scary, very scary. But it also seemed like the only choice he had if Rael actually wanted to figure out his identity.
But before he did something so drastic, Rael decided to look at the bigger picture first.
Isobel would come over tomorrow and give him more details. She might even allow him to meet the other Ambassadors of Reality. It was a useful visit, and Rael was most definitely not going to throw away the off-chance of this giving him the answers he needed.
After all, he would definitely wait a day rather than spending eons alone. With that in mind, he gave Tiamat a slight smile and then turned back to Sylvia.
“Welp, I guess that’s it for now. I’m glad you were happy to help me, though I do have one more question, if you don’t mind answering.”
Tiamat sighed once again. “What is it?”
Rael smiled. “How do I know if I really have a Guardian? Someone had called out to me, but when I went there, I didn’t see anyone.”
“Basically… I’m just curious if I got punked.”
