Chapter 932: Coffee
Chapter 932: Coffee
“You’re an idiot…” Rael facepalmed.
Melina shrugged. “Well, what else am I supposed to do? Have you even noticed how many continents Theo and I conquered for you? Probably not, right? Well… it doesn’t matter. You’re probably too rich by now to notice.”
True.
He was indeed too rich to notice. More importantly, though, Rael was a bit surprised she didn’t have more to say, especially since it really had been two decades since they met. Granted, she looked the same as when he first met her.
He might be the only person who changed, to be frank.
“Speaking of, where’s Theo? I can still somewhat feel my connection with him, but it’s pretty faint,” Rael asked.
Melina thought it over for a moment, then chuckled. “To be honest, I think he’s been kidnapped. I remember I told him to try conquering the ocean, and the last time I heard something from him was when his wife went out to search for him.”
“He’s still married?” Rael mused. “Huh. Well, if he went down there and met a mermaid or a siren, I doubt he’ll stay married for long. His wife is still alive though?”
She shrugged. “Heck if I know. Anyways, mind clearing the mountain out for us?”
Rael stared at her for a few moments, then went ahead and did it. He snapped his fingers, and in the blink of an eye, the whole mountain range suddenly vanished. There wasn’t even a single trace, or even a single semblance of the mountain existing in the first place.
It all happened so fast, and of course, Rael managed to also carve a path in the middle, making sure any and all carriages could pass without issue. He essentially created a highway of sorts.
And of course, Melina seemed excited, almost like she couldn’t do this herself. Which she could, obviously. Probably as effortlessly as Rael, as it barely took any mana to erase a mountain. Well… she must’ve had a good reason for doing this.
“Wanna drink some coffee? It’s my treat.”
“Can I pass?” Rael asked.
She smiled at him. “Nope. Come along. There’s some stuff I’d like to discuss with you aside from the coffee, if you’re not too busy, of course.”
Rael let out a sigh and nodded at her. Finally, she gestured for her men to continue with the demolition and cleaning, while on the other hand, she led the two of them back to her home.
Wonder what more she wants to demolish? I already destroyed a chunk of the mountain. Hm… does she have some kind of hidden agenda? More importantly, wouldn’t someone who should be busy with conquering the continents have a little more… well, freedom? Rael thought.
It was fine, sure, but Rael was a little confused why she was confining herself to just this continent. She could go to any other continent, establish a trade there, and even supply ocean routes across the continents.
It wouldn’t be hard. Every continent had a forest and a bunch of architects. They could build the boats as much as they wanted, and they wouldn’t face any issues of transport unless…
.Right, there were some monsters in the oceans. They weren’t weak either. Well, so long as an escort party was there too, then it was doable, but very, very expensive.
Hmm…
Well, whatever the case was, Rael eventually entered her home, and when he sat down in her kitchen and was prepared to raid her fridge for the sake of it, he suddenly stopped, turning toward her as she brought a cup of coffee over to him, placing it on the table.
She sat down opposite him, and after crossing her legs, she smiled at him.
“I’m surprised you actually came back. On that note though, how’s life? Your wife doing okay?”
“My wives are fine,” Rael replied.
She raised a brow. “Wives? Well, someone’s been active. On that note, I’m also thinking of finding a husband soon. Got any tips for me?”
That was a very tough question, especially since Rael didn’t have any friends. Rather, any male friends.
“Hmm… yeah, I got nothing. Have you tried going to a bar, maybe?” Rael suggested.
She scoffed. “Do you want me to get some basic man from a bar? No thanks. I’m not that desperate. I’d rather just sail the seven seas or whatever and be done with it. Speaking of, can you take me out of this hellhole already? I’m done here.”
Rael took a sip of coffee, and then leaned back. “You don’t want to work here anymore? I thought you loved the attention that came with your name and stuff.”
“I do love it, but the Depths are far too volatile. We can’t swim past a certain region, since the boats just get eroded. No material can really reach it, so we just need to either fly by ourselves or walk on land,” Melina let out a sigh, then added:
“It’s just… not how I want to spend the rest of my life, I suppose. I want to live on water, fight on water, and probably get married on water too.”
Rael felt like just telling her to build a massive pool, but no… he was understanding enough to listen to her. Plus, it wasn’t like he needed much more money anymore.
So if she wanted an out, Rael would grant her that wish. Plus, it wasn’t like she was weak. She could do whatever she wanted and travel wherever she pleased.
Therefore, Rael rose from his seat, and then gestured at her to stand up as well.
“Let’s get going. You wanted to leave this place, right? Then let’s do it. I’ll take you to my world, and from there, you can buy a ship and fly out of there or something. Search for worlds like some space pirate. That sounds pretty fun, doesn’t it?” Rael offered.
She stared at him for a moment, then sighed.
“I guess it’s better than sitting around here. Let’s go.”
