Chapter 1244: An Unknown Family History, Recruiting Offers
’The Zhang family and Jiang family... There are too many things that align for it to be a mere coincidence. There is still too much information I lack. I still haven’t heard back from Mariposa about what I asked her to look into. But, maybe I can finally connect a few missing pieces.’
When Izroth met up with Mariposa in the real world to discuss a few matters, he also requested that she help him look into two people. One of those people was Jin’s biological father, Jiang Gui.
A vivid memory that came to Izroth’s mind was one that happened around six years ago. It was then that Jiang Gui paid a visit to Jin and ultimately got him to sign some papers to essentially sever all ties for good.
However, Izroth found Jiang Gui’s actions strange. Although Izroth only knew of Jiang Gui through memories, he did not seem like the kind of person who covered his tracks well. For Jiang Gui to go out of his way to get Jin to sign such a contract meant that there was a good chance someone instructed him to do so.
’No matter how much I try to remember, there was never a time when my mother talked about her family. If she is somehow related to the Zhang family from the Seven Great Families, then how did she end up in such a bad situation? Is it related to the scheme that led to the Zhang family’s decline? It’s too much of a stretch to say for certain with the current information at my disposal. But, if my mother was driven out of the Zhang family, then there must have been someone behind it.’
Reilei was someone who supported Jin in his dream to be a pro gamer despite his numerous failures. However, despite their struggling financial situation, never once did Reilei discourage him from pursing his dream. She even did her best to support him and tried to understand the games he played.
A natural beauty with such a bright, compassionate and gentle nature—no matter how Izroth looked at it, Reilei would have undoubtedly been a target of endless jealousy and envy.
"Thank you, Palace Master. If not for you, perhaps I would have gone all my life living with the regret of being unable to see this little sister of mine again. Words are not enough to express my gratitude. I am grateful that you won the bet that day, which led me to join the Mystical Realm Palace." Worldly Skies said with a warm smile.
"Hm? What’s this about a bet?" Celia asked curiously.
"Just a small matter that has long since passed. The Palace Master has taken good care me at the Mystical Realm Palace. It is a place that has become like a second home to me. That aside, Little sister Li, in the future, you must remember to never bet against the Palace Master. He does not take bets that he cannot win." Worldly Skies warned.
"I get it, big sis Liqiu. After everything I’ve witnessed today, I feel a little sorry for those who decide to bet against the Palace Master." Celia sighed as she shook her head.
Suddenly, Celia looked as if she had been jolted awake.
"Ah, that’s right! The pill-" Celia opened the palm of her hand and looked down at the Seven Element Change Pill as an excited look returned to her eyes.
Celia had gotten so caught up in the moment that she forgot the Seven Element Change Pill she had clenched in her hand.
"The effects of this pill are unbelievable. If I were to compare it to the Flow of Energy Pill from earlier, it’s like placing silver next to diamonds. How can two grade five pills be so different?" Celia exclaimed in awe.
"This...! Pseudo-divine pill core rank..?!" Worldly Skies gasped.
From a glance, Worldly Skies could tell that the Seven Element Change Pill was not normal. But, when she looked at it more in depth with her trait, she uncovered some shocking things about the Seven Element Change Pill.
"Does having a pseudo-divine pill core rank increase a pill’s overall effects to this extent? If so, what do the effects of a pill with a genuine divine pill core look like? Saying it’s incomparable to other grade five pills is not enough." Worldly Skies commented.
"Palace Master, can you show us how you crafted this later?" Celia asked eagerly.
"Sure. But, it might be a bit difficult for others to employ the method I used to craft the Seven Element Change Pill. I will have to think about some adjustments so that it’s possible for others." Izroth stated calmly.
Worldly Skies and Celia let out a helpless sigh simultaneously. Seeing that they had the same reaction, the two looked at each other before they playfully giggled.
It was not easy to make changes to pill recipes when you were not its creator. This applied even more so for something like the Seven Element Change Pill with an unclear crafting technique. But, if Izroth was the one saying it, Worldly Skies and Celia did not find the idea to be ridiculous nor arrogant.
...
A few moments later...
"I hereby announce that the grade five promotion test has officially come to an end. I would like to congratulate the eight Apothecaries who passed. To those of you who failed, do not be disheartened. There will be another promotion test held in six months. You can use the time to learn from your mistakes and grow as an Apothecary so that you return fully prepared. I will now turn the floor over to Head Apothecary Varuu." Rozomius said before he took a step back.
The timer had finally run out. Out of the 27 Apothecaries who participated in the last part of the grade five promotion test, only 8 Apothecaries managed to be promoted to a grade five Apothecary. If one included the original 41 participants, it meant that just under 20% of Apothecaries managed to be promoted.
Varuu stood to her feet as the chair she had been sitting on disappeared.
"This is only the first step down the path of becoming a true Apothecary. You have found success and that is something worth celebrating. But, do not become complacent. The road ahead will present many obstacles of varying difficulties. As long as you have the will and drive to persevere, you can overcome whatever is thrown on your path." Varuu started.
She then went on to speak for a couple of minutes and imparted some guiding wisdom to the Apothecaries. And, as she reached the end of her speech, the atmosphere in the room immediately shifted.
"That concludes what I have to say. I wish you the best on your journey, young Apothecaries." Varuu stated.
She then warned as she swept her gaze out across the crowd of observers, "I know there are those of you who are excited. However, remember to mind your manners. This is the Apothecary Guild. It is not a place where you can act as you please."
"Since I am sure you all understand, I will not hold you up any longer. Those of you observing may now leave the observation area." Varuu announced.
Swoosh! Swoosh! Swoosh!
In the blink of an eye, the observers rushed out from the observing area toward the group of passing Apothecaries.
"My Northern Ice Palace wants to recruit you! We’ll offer twice- No, three times whatever that Mystical Realm Palace is offering you!" One of the observers said as he rushed toward Worldly Skies and Celia.
"My Windrose family is willing to meet whatever conditions you have! Just name them!"
"Can you introduce us to this Mystical Realm Palace of yours?"
It did not take long for the observers to crowd around Worldly Skies and Celia. However, this was to be expected. The two of them had both achieved a potential of tier ten for their Natural Energy. Furthermore, Worldly Skies had the Natural Energy of Fire. While Celia was a rare Triple Natural Energy.
But, more important than anything, the two of them appeared to be extremely close. Therefore, as long as they could convince one of them, the other would likely follow!
Of course, there were some people who wanted to try a different approach and went toward Izroth first. They believed that he was the two to bringing those two Apothecaries over to their side.
"Apothecary Izroth, if you join our organization, we can give you the benefits of a grade seven Apothecary. Do what you think?"
"That’s all? We can give you the benefits of a family Elder! If you say the word, we can even dedicate an entire division to tend to your needs!"
"Our order will...!"
Just like that, Izroth, Worldly Skies, and Celia were bombarded with requests from the observers.
As for the other Apothecaries who passed the promotion test, they were only approached by those families with low influence or organizations without much power behind them who had no way to compete with those bigger powers.
