Chapter 1266: Hyrell
Chapter 1266: Hyrell
...
’Where is this place?’
After Izroth placed the badge to his chest, according to Arden, he was supposed to be teleported outside of the Formation Master Guild’s library in a discreet manner. However, Izroth ended up somewhere that did not seem to be anywhere in or near the Danaharpe he knew.
Currently, Izroth stood at the center of a dark cavern. It was decently spacious; however, there were no visible entrances or exits in sight.
Izroth scanned the area with his Energy Vision Sense, but there was a powerful magic formation in place that interfered with his perception.
’Although I’m not entirely certain, this place should be another isolated layer of space. That said, it doesn’t look like it’s a part of the Formation Master Guild’s library. But, with a magic formation this sophisticated, it wouldn’t surprise me if the Formation Master Guild was behind it. Though for this kind of magic formation to have been set up, it had to have been done by a Grade Ten Formation Master.’
This was Izroth’s first time seeing such a complex magic formation in RML. Even with Divine Appraisal, all Izroth received for information was that the magic formation had been built exactly 150 years ago and had something to do with time and space.
"For a magic formation to contain both the elements of time and space—even a Grade Ten Formation Master would not be able to pull it off unless they were a genius of their era." Izroth said to himself as he looked around the area.
He walked over to the nearest wall and noticed that several symbols were inscribed on them.
’I’ve seen these symbols before. They were in a children’s book in the Amaharpe Palace Library. A story about the time humans and the ancient races were at war and how peace came about. Unfortunately, I don’t know the meaning of these symbols. It’s probably a lost ancient language of the Mortal Realm.’
"Well, I’ve looked around enough. I don’t know why I was brought here. But, I have no intention of staying around."
The magic formation was undoubtedly complex and sophisticated; however, even this layer of isolated space could not escape being connected to The Void. And, as long as a place was connected to The Void, it could never truly hold Izroth.
"You are not a Formation Master. How did you manage to get into this place?" A somewhat befuddled voice sounded.
Izroth turned toward the direction that the voice came from and there, standing less than three meters away from here was a woman.
’Even at this distance, I can’t sense her presence.’
Despite his Energy Vision Sense not functioning under these conditions, Izroth was still confident in his natural sense of perception. Therefore, for someone who have approached so close to him while going undetected—if they were not using a magic item or trick, they would definitely have to be someone who had stepped into the legendary realm.
Izroth used his Divine Appraisal on the woman before him.
She appeared to be in her early to mid thirties. There was a lingering aura of matureness about her. The first thing that would catch one’s eye was the beauty mark located on the lower left part of her face under her lips.
She had a pair of stunning lily blue eyes and long shimmering light silver hair. She wore a set of elegant robes that resembled the ones worn by a Formation Master; however, it was different. The color of the Formation Masters robes were dark blue. Yet, the woman before him wore a set of white robes outlined with traces of dark silver and hints of arctic blue.

~Appraisal~
’Unknown? It’s the first time since I obtained it that Divine Appraisal has shown me something like this. Does it have to do with the area we’re in? Well, I suppose at least it didn’t hide her name. Hyrell... It’s the same name of the 12th Head of the Formation Master Guild. However, that person was the head nearly 200 years ago. Still, the two may somehow be related in some way. After all, I doubt it’s a coincidence that they share the same name and are present within such a sophisticated magic formation.’
"No, this is wrong... It is all wrong..! How could someone who is not a Formation Master have discovered this place? Is the Formation Master Guild facing an unknown crisis? No... As long as that security measure exists, the Formation Master Guild should be able to handle any danger short of a massive full scale assault. Then, how did this person manage to reach this place?" Hyrell said as she furrowed her brows and walked in circled around Izroth as she observed him.
"From the sound of things, it looks like we’re both in an unexpected situation. I myself would like to know how I got here. More importantly, I’d like to know how to leave." Izroth stated calmly.
Izroth could always use Void Turning as a last resort to escape from this isolated layer of space; however, Void Turning was one of his trump cards. If possible, he would like to reserve its use for more pressing matters.
"Hm... What were you doing before you arrived?" Hyrell questioned.
"I was in the fifth layer of the Formation Master Guild’s library. I placed this badge on my chest to teleport outside when I was suddenly dragged into this place by a dark and murky aura." Izroth explained.
While he explained the situation and maintained his composure, Izroth had not let his guard down for a moment. He kept a close watch on Hyrell’s actions and reactions. After all, her intentions were still unclear. This was even more so with Divine Appraisal not giving him anything to go on but her name.
"That badge—may I see it?" Hyrell asked as he stopped before in front of Izroth, bringing her close just a few centimeters away from his.
"Sure." Izroth replied casually as he held up the badge between them, causing Hyrell to take a step back.
The next moment, Hyrell accepted the badge from Izroth and held it up in the air. As she did so, a series of miniature magic circles hovered above her right eye that resembled a compressed telescope of sorts.
"I see they let anybody into the library these days. How carefree. Hmmm... This is unusual. The badge itself is fine, but it has been tampered with. Hmph, what shoddy work. Is this really a Formation Masterion? Such amateur techniques." Hyrell muttered the latter part to herself.
’Tampered?’
"Under normal circumstances, that badge would transport me directly outside of the Formation Master Guild’s library. But, due to certain circumstances, I was told that this badge was altered to discreetly send me outside of the Formation Master Guild itself." Izroth revealed.
"It did have that function. Unfortunately, or I suppose in this case fortunately, there is something rather sinister hidden deep within this item. If you had been transported outside, you would have exploded and died. Not in that particular order, I might add. It’s a curse. You should destroy that thing as soon as possible." Hyrell noted as she returned the badge to Izroth.
’A curse set to go off when I try to transport outside of the library? But... It doesn’t add up. Why would Elder Arden try to harm me?’
The one who gave Izroth the badge was none other than Arden. However, it did not make any sense that the Elder of the Formation Master Guild would attempt something like this.
For one, Izroth did not detect any hidden motives behind Arden’s words. He came to understand his character in their brief yet informative exchange.
More importantly, Arden belonged to the Head’s faction of the Formation Master. For him, there was nothing more important than winning over Izroth, an Honorary Elder of the Apothecary Guild, in order to increase their chances of success. To eliminate him brought about no benefit whatsoever.
Plus, a curse? Not only that, a curse powerful enough to evade the eyes of a Formation Master Guild Elder—it was no simple feat.
"It’s an important piece of evidence. For now, I will keep it. Though, I will thank you for your advice. You’ve saved me some trouble. That aside, it still doesn’t answer how I was pulled to place." Izroth said as he placed the badge into his inventory.
"It has something to do with the test I left hidden deep within the fifth layer of the Formation Master Guild’s library. If I’m not mistaken, it must have activated the moment it detected the curse and brought you to this place for safety. Since this is a layer of isolated space that existed separate from normal time and space, the curse would be broken. In other words, with the way that time flows through this layer of isolated space, the curse simply could not function as intended." Hyrell explained unhurriedly.
