Chapter 1304: Benefits of a Divine Title!
Chapter 1304: Benefits of a Divine Title!
Once Izroth confirmed the changes made to the Gift of Divine Speed, Izroth turned his attention to the new title he received.
‘This… I knew there was a gap between the Pseudo-Divine and Divine ranks, but I didn’t expect for it to be this bad. It’s hard to even compare the two.’
Title Name: King of Merchants(Solitary Divine)
Title Benefit(s):
-Pay 0% taxes and fees for transactions in places where fame exceeds 1,000.
-30% discount at all stores run by non-players. This can stack with other discounts, even when specified that discounts cannot stack.
-When negotiating, the passive skill «Absolute Intimidation» can be activated.
-When negotiating, if the target is a non-player, their «Lowest Negotiable Amount» will be displayed.
-Monetary coins cannot be stolen.
-Treasure and gold cannot be hidden from sight.
-You can view the current market price of all items. If an item does not have a market price, an estimated market price will be shown based on the history of previous items with points of similarity.
-The skill «By Virtue of Avarice» can be used [3] times per day.
Taxes and fees waiving, discounts—the benefits given by the King of Merchants title was enough to make any player salivate, especially if that player was part of a merchant guild. And, since the King of Merchants was a solitary title, it could be equipped regardless of how many titles one had active.
But, what stood out the most among everything to Izroth were the two skills King of Merchants granted.
‘Titles that grant skills are exceedingly rare. But, I managed to get my hands on a title that gives two of them.’
Skill Name: Absolute Intimidation
Skill Level: MAXED
Skill Rank: Unique*
Requirements: ???
Passive: Afflicts all targets in the user’s immediate vicinity with the following status effects that can last for up to one hour and can only be removed by the user’s will:
-«Absolute Weakened»: Reduces the target’s main stats, except HP, MP and other energy sources, by 50%.
-«Absolute Mind Fog»: Reduces the target’s concentration by 50%.
-«Absolute Fear»: Affects the target’s sense of perception and causes them to experience realistic illusions of dread toward the user.
-«Absolute Suffocation»: Increases the target’s difficulty to breathe and amplifies all other negative effects by 50%.
Skill Name: By Virtue of Avarice
Skill Level: MAXED
Skill Rank: Unique*
Daily Uses Remaining: 3/3
Requirements: ???
Gold Cost: 1,000
Active: The user pays [1,000] gold coins. This skill’s power is amplified based on the amount of gold coins paid. The user can choose to [Attack] or [Protect]. If the user chooses [Attack], the user sends out a burst of damage to a single target within 50 meters, instantly dealing [10*Gold Spent] metal damage. If the user chooses [Protect], the user can grant themselves or an ally within 50 meters a barrier that can block up to [10*Gold Spent] damage for 1 hour. After this skill is used, its cost is permanently increased by 10%. The number of daily uses may rise with gold cost.
Cooldown: None
Although Absolute Intimidation could only be activated when negotiating, the status effects attached to it more than made up for it.
As for By Virtue of Avarice, the effects of the skill itself were rather straightforward. Rather, it was the skill’s cost that made it perhaps one of the most unique skills Izroth had come across in RML. After all, he had never run into a single skill that actually cost gold coins to use!
‘On the surface, the limitations of Absolute Intimidation may seem incredibly limited. But, it’s activation requirements aren’t actually that difficult as long as one approaches it correctly. This By the Virtue of Avarice, however—it’s indeed a skill made for the King of Merchants.’
King of Merchants was a title meant for someone whose main priority was earning profit. As a result, their combat abilities were likely to be severely limited compared to others. A title like King of Merchants offered a way to bridge that gap—even if but for a moment.
“With By Virtue of Avarice, as long as one invests enough gold coins, it might be possible for them to take down someone in the legendary realm using wealth alone. Of course, reaching that point would cost a fortune since the skill’s cost increases by 10% with every use.” Izroth said to himself.
Izroth estimated that even the weakest of legendary realm beings had HP well into the millions. Adding together their overall defensive capabilities and other protective or lifesaving skills or items, it would not be so straightforward.
In the end, Izroth saw the skills as nothing more than small bonuses. To him, the true value of the Divine-ranked title was in the benefits it granted.
〈System Alert: Converting 1:150 gold to RMB ratio… Conversion successful!〉
〈System Alert: Due to the title «King of Merchants», the Danaharpe City trade tax of (13%) has been waived.〉
〈System Alert: 675,000,000 RMB(10%) has been removed for the conversion fee from the total of 6,750,000,000 RMB.〉
〈System Alert: 6,075,000,000 RMB has been successfully added directly to your bank account.〉
‘It seems since the 5,000,000 gold coins technically belonged to the Golden Treasure House before I received the title, it still ended up being removed. Thankfully, it waived the Danaharpe City tax. The conversion fee… Well, there’s nothing that can be done about that. Since it’s related to the real world, my title has no effect on it.’
If Vexpela had not offered to cut the auction house fee from 30% to 10% and the 13% Danaharpe City trade tax also went through on top of the 10% conversion fee, Izroth would have lost more than 50% of his profits to taxes and fees alone!
As for why Izroth wasted no time converting the gold coins directly into RMB, it was because of the advice he received from his Financial Advisor, Fang Qiu.
She told Izroth that it was better off converting any gold coins earned into RMB while the price of gold coins were still high. Based on her research, Fang Qiu predicted that the gold to RMB ratio would roughly stabilize around the 1 gold coin to 100 RMB ratio—give or take a few RMB. Once it reached that point, there would be no big increases or decreases unless something major happened.
‘Now that that’s taken care of, it’s time I deal with this issue. As long as I stay here, it’s unlikely that they’ll make a move. If I want to draw them out, at the very least, I have to leave the Golden Treasure House.’
Izroth shifted his focus to the quest, Hunted By A Creature of the Netherworld(3).
‘Oh? How strange. More time than this has definitely passed so—why has it stopped here?’
The quest originally had a time limit of one hour. It had been more than forty minutes since Izroth received the quest, yet the time limit was currently at 30 minutes and not budging a single second.
There were times when Izroth experienced a quest’s time limit increasing or decreasing drastically; however, this was the first time he had seen the time limit stop completely in its tracks.
