Rebirth: Ghost Exorciser

Chapter 101 - Qi Zhenbai Strongly Declares Sovereignty

Chapter 101: Qi Zhenbai Strongly Declares Sovereignty

Qian Hongxin returned to the small rental house he was sharing with Liu Xinfang. When he entered the door, he saw Liu Xinfang searching everywhere for something. After she moved things around, the originally narrow and small rental house looked even more cramped and messy.

“What are you doing? You’re making a mess.” Seeing Liu Xinfang’s actions, Qian Hongxin felt a little guilty. He had exchanged almost all the jewelry and branded bags which Yang Feiyu had given to Liu Xinfang for money.

“Where’s my pearl necklace, and one of my branded bags?” Liu Xinfang supported her big belly as she asked the question. She suddenly thought of something and looked up at Qian Hongxin and asked, “As soon as I woke up, my stuff was gone. Did you take them?”

Seeing that he couldn’t hide it anymore, Qian Hongxin looked at her belly and heaved a long sigh. “Xinfang, the Yang family is bullying others too much. I ran into a wall recently trying to look for a job. It must be their doing, but when I think about how you’re going to give birth soon, the money for the child’s milk powder and clothes, plus the rent, will all be a lot of money. So, I had to use those things of yours to solve the pressing problem first.”

Qian Hongxin seemed afraid of making Liu Xinfang angry, so he grabbed her hands and said tenderly, “But don’t worry, after we get through this period, I’ll make a name for myself. I’ll definitely buy you new things, even better than what Yang Feiyu bought you.”

When Liu Xinfang heard Qian Hongxin’s words, she felt extremely suffocated and uncomfortable in her heart, but she still said considerately, “I believe you can definitely build a career for yourself with your abilities.”

Qian Hongxin was moved and hugged Liu Xinfang. As she leaned on Qian Hongxin’s shoulder, Liu Xinfang’s eyes dimmed and she was depressed. She absentmindedly thought that this wasn’t the life she wanted at all.

In the beginning, she thought that it was Yang Feiyu, the rich second-generation heir, who had forcefully snatched her away and hindered her from true love with Qian Hongxin. For this reason, she once hated him. When she and Qian Hongxin placed the curse on Yang Feiyu, she took it for granted that Yang Feiyu owed her.

But now that she was really living here with Qian Hongxin, she realized that she couldn’t stand this kind of poverty. It was easy to go from frugality to extravagance, but difficult to go from extravagance to frugality.

That was especially the case when she recalled how she had lived in a mansion and led a pampered life while being meticulously taken care of by servants and housekeepers. But look at her now; she had to do the cooking and all the household chores, and was unable to swallow some of the food every time she ate. She keenly felt the disparity.

The more Liu Xinfang thought about it, the more uncomfortable she felt. She pushed Qian Hongxin away, but when she saw his stunned gaze, her eyes flashed and she felt a little guilty. What was she thinking? Qian Hongxin was handsome and talented; he just wasn’t as lucky as Yang Feiyu, or hadn’t gotten the right opportunities. How could that foppish rich second-generation heir, Yang Feiyu, compare with him? He was simply a good-for-nothing who relied on his parents.

Chi Shuyan didn’t go out again after the college entrance exam. She locked herself away in her room all day as she thought of all sorts of ways to access the skills for borrowing luck. Unfortunately, she still couldn’t think of anything after staying at home for a dozen days.

There was a knock on the door and Chi Shuyan went to open it. She saw her father, Chi Lingyan, standing there with a face full of smiles. She asked in confusion, “Dad, is there a happy occasion?” She had never seen her father smile so happily before.

“Of course there’s a happy occasion, a very, very happy occasion. Have you forgotten what day it is today?” Chi Lingyan rubbed Chi Shuyan’s hair helplessly, his eyes filled with excitement.

Chi Shuyan pondered carefully and still couldn’t think of anything. Suddenly, her eyes lit up. “Are the college entrance exam results out?”

“My daughter is so smart.” Chi Lingyan smiled until his lips were about to crack behind his ears. His eyes were filled with childish expectation like a kid as he asked, “Do you know what your score is? Can you guess?”

When Chi Lingyan saw his daughter lock herself in her room, he thought at first that she was worried about her college entrance exam result. But when his daughter didn’t take a single step out, Chi Lingyan became more and more worried. He recalled how he heard the other parents say that the questions this time seemed much more difficult. Shuyan probably compared her answers with her classmates’ and realized that she had gotten many questions wrong.

Finally, the night before the results were released, Chi Lingyan was afraid that his daughter would be upset, so he took Chi Shuyan’s admission ticket and logged into the college entrance exam query webpage. He was already prepared for his daughter to fail the exam, and racked his brains for ways to comfort her.

Who would have thought that after he entered her admission ticket number, his eyes were instantly blinded by the results on the page. He was so shocked that his jaw dropped. He rubbed his eyes and looked again, afraid that he had seen wrong. He even put in the admission ticket number several times.

The total score was 750. Yanyan had scored 730, and had only lost 20 points. She got 140 for Chinese, 150 for Mathematics, 149 for English, and 291 for Science.

Chi Shuyan looked at her father, who was grinning from ear to ear and so excited that his lips were about to split the bottom of his ears open, and was certain that she had done well.

She was about to casually mention a number, when the phone rang. It was Li Xiaoting. “Shuyan, Shuyan, do you know what you scored —”

As soon as Chi Shuyan picked up the call, her eardrum was almost pierced by Li Xiaoting’s shrill voice. Even when she quickly held it away from her ear, she heard the next part clearly: “730 points — are you still human?”

After that, Li Xiaoting received calls from several teachers and classmates in succession, all congratulating her. Her classmates were more outgoing and excited, while her science teacher was more reserved. Nevertheless, she was still excited when she listened to them as they deluged her with questions on how on earth she did it.

Chi Shuyan looked at her father, who wandered around the kitchen as he planned to cook a big meal for her, and rested her forehead against the sofa. Although she wasn’t as uncontrollably excited as her father and the others, she was genuinely happy inside.

In her previous life, she had been reported for cheating and didn’t even go to an ordinary university, which she had really regretted. She was also very curious about college life. But aside from that, her score was more or less what she had guessed, so she was quite calm inside.

Just as she was dozing off on the sofa, the phone rang. Chi Shuyan picked it up casually, thinking it was another classmate reporting the good news.

Unexpectedly, a deep masculine voice came through the phone. “Shuyan, I’m outside your door.”

Chi Shuyan quivered and all traces of sleepiness disappeared. What was Qi Zhenbai doing here at this time? Why did he suddenly come to Fuzhou from the capital? She was about to ask, but the call was cut off.

Chi Shuyan called him back several times, but after receiving one call to tell her to come out, he rejected all the rest. Chi Shuyan was speechless. What the hell was wrong with this man? He didn’t even make himself clear.

Chi Shuyan opened the door and looked around. In the dim light and darkness, it wasn’t as clear as during the day. As soon as she reached the stairs, she saw a dark, tall, upright back not far away, and could see the silhouette of a person.

Just as she was hesitating whether to go forward or not, the tall figure suddenly turned around, as if he had eyes on his back, to reveal a handsome and deep face, and those sharp phoenix eyes in particular. The moment he saw Chi Shuyan, his eyes glittered like obsidian rock, and without hesitation, he strode over on his strong, lean long legs.

Chi Shuyan was about to go down the stairs, when a tall shadow enveloped her. Before she could react, a pair of iron arms directly scooped her up from the steps and into an embrace.

Caught off-guard, she was practically suspended with her feet in the air as she was pressed to Qi Zhenbai’s firm chest. The tip of her nose filled with the faint fragrance of wood mixed with herbs.

“You, Qi…” Chi Shuyan raised her head with difficulty and was about to speak, when Qi Zhenbai let go of one arm around her waist to press it firmly against the back of her head as he kissed her directly with a ferocity that almost devoured her whole. His other iron arm was wrapped tightly around Chi Shuyan as he pried her teeth open. His lips and tongue dove in domineeringly, just like a beast covering its prey with its aura to tyrannically declare its sovereignty.
