Rebirth: Ghost Exorciser

Chapter 78 - Have a Child Soon?

Chapter 78: Have a Child Soon?

The tip of Chi Shuyan’s nose was filled with the woody fragrance of the man wrapped around her. She tilted her head and saw Qi Zhenbai’s well-defined face, low eyebrows, deep eyes, high nose bridge, and red, thin and perfect lips.

His large palm burned on the back of her hand, and the scorching heat where they touched made Chi Shuyan’s eyelids jump. She subconsciously and stealthily drew back her right hand from Qi Zhenbai’s without batting an eyelid. She straightened her back and tilted her head a bit toward the table, avoiding Qi Zhenbai’s chest behind her.

Although Chi Shuyan’s movements were slow and subtle, someone as keen as Qi Zhenbai still sensed them.

“What’s wrong?” Qi Zhenbai saw that Chi Shuyan seemed to be keeping her distance to avoid misunderstandings, and his brow furrowed slightly. Displeasure flashed in his phoenix eyes. He was sitting behind her but there was no progress. His two iron arms wrapped around Chi Shuyan, and his lips curled up imperceptibly as he whispered in her ear, “Unsatisfied? Or do you want me to come a little closer?”

The man’s tone was low and cajoling, and contained an inexplicable magnetism that made people blush and their hearts beat faster. Hearing this, Chi Shuyan’s entire body stiffened and her right eyelid twitched; she was utterly adverse to the strong sense of invasion and oppression from the other party. She forced a smile and hurriedly said, “Don’t, I just feel a little suffocated. Young Master Qi, just sit next to me.”

Chi Shuyan looked at the man next to her, whose handsome face was instantly shrouded in black clouds. His expression changed faster than flipping through a book. She held her breath. Her heart was conflicted and her head ached non-stop. She very much doubted if asking this man for help had been the right decision.

But she had already crossed the bridge and the only way was forward. Chi Shuyan didn’t plan to let this ‘small matter’ affect her, so she got straight to the point. “Young Master Qi, I…”

Unfortunately, just as she opened her mouth, the man dangerously narrowed his eyes and stared straight at her until her hair stood on end and her voice faltered. The man suddenly corrected her: “Call me by my name!” There was an irrefutable decree and command in his tone.

Chi Shuyan choked. Her voice was blocked and she couldn’t utter the words “Qi Zhenbai” for a long while. Qi Zhenbai saw the hesitation in her eyes and abruptly said, “Do you think it’s appropriate to use ‘Young Master Qi’ given our current relationship?”

Chi Shuyan’s face changed drastically when she heard this, and she almost retorted, “What relationship do we have?”

If possible, she wanted to immediately make things clear, express that everything that had happened before was a misunderstanding, and tell him to stay away from her. She really couldn’t bear him getting close. Unfortunately, she had to use him at this moment; how could she dare fall out with him? She also couldn’t imagine embarrassing him.

For now, at least, she really couldn’t afford to offend him.

But if she dared fool around with the feelings of the man next to her, she would feel guilty. On top of that, she had the strong suspicion that the day he found out the truth, he wouldn’t hesitate to hang, draw and quarter her; it might be even more tragic than the Celestial Master in her past life who used evil magic but was turned into pulp by this man and fed to his dog.

Chi Shuyan shuddered. For one moment, she regretted stepping into these muddy waters. Chi Shuyan weighed the pros and cons for a long time before she finally gritted her teeth and made a decision. “Young Master Qi, after this matter is dealt with, I have something to discuss with you!”

When Chi Shuyan didn’t change how she addressed him, Qi Zhenbai’s deep eyes darkened and he gave her a profound look. His face didn’t change, but it was more terrifying than his usual calm demeanor. For a moment, the air froze and the temperature plummeted, as if a hurricane was wreaking havoc around them. Chi Shuyan felt uncertain under his cold gaze and almost corrected herself in alarm.

After a while, the man suddenly spoke, his voice hoarse and slow. “Do you want to break up?”

“Of course not…” Chi Shuyan blurted out. Wait, they had never been together at all. What did he mean by break up? No, no, she wanted to make things clear.

Chi Shuyan wanted to explain, but the man’s cold expression eased slightly. Without giving her a chance to explain further, his mood turned from cold to good. “It’s good that you don’t. You should know that you were the one who took the initiative. I thought about it over and over before reluctantly agreeing to be with you.”

Chi Shuyan twitched violently when she heard his words. What did he mean by taking the initiative? What did he mean by “thinking about it over and over” and “reluctantly”?

In fact, she really wanted him to think it over and reconsider. She wouldn’t be so aggrieved right now if she knew that one kiss would cause so much trouble. She simply wanted to go back to the rooftop and kill herself rather than kiss this man.

Qi Zhenbai naturally wasn’t aware of Chi Shuyan’s dilemma and was dazzled by the angry look of the woman in front of him. He had been very dissatisfied with how she addressed him earlier, but now, it seemed that this woman had a bit of a temper. He had to take it slow and couldn’t force her. This woman could call him Young Master Qi or whatever she wanted, as long as she was happy.

In any case, she was his woman, no matter what she called him. If the way she addressed him didn’t change now, it would after they got married.

Although he felt it was still too early for her to call him “husband,” he could still reluctantly accept it.

Qi Zhenbai was unaware of the love and indulgence in his eyes as his gentle gaze swept over the woman’s face from time to time. Chi Shuyan was frightened by his stare and thought that it would be better to end this sooner. “Young Master Qi, let’s get down to proper business!”

Qi Zhenbai obeyed and covered the back of Chi Shuyan’s fair hand which was holding the cinnabar pen. This time, he exerted a bit more strength, fearing that the woman in his hands would slip away like a fish. Fortunately, the little woman only raised her head to glance at him quickly this time before she lowered it and focused on drawing the talisman.

Qi Zhenbai followed the woman’s hand stroke by stroke as she drew a talisman.

“It’s really useful; I was right!” Chi Shuyan looked at the finished talisman with pleasant surprise. The abundance of spiritual aura in it was already close to what a high-level talisman contained.

She had only been guessing that Qi Zhenbai’s purple aura could be converted into spiritual aura when she gave it a go, and didn’t expect it to be more useful than she thought.

Chi Shuyan still wasn’t used to them being so close. She reckoned that holding hands would do, so she simply had him sit on the side. She held his hand with one of hers and continued to draw a talisman with the other.

After realizing that this woman couldn’t be forced, Qi Zhenbai was unusually cooperative and didn’t go overboard in his behavior. His eyes were glued to the woman’s face in front of him, never shifting away from beginning to end. He gradually became more and more entranced, and her delicate features grew more and more vivid to him.

Chi Shuyan’s attention was all on the talisman, so she didn’t sense anything abnormal. Just like earlier, she found that the abundance of spiritual aura in the talisman was still close to what a high-level talisman had. It was just that drawing a high-level talisman was still somewhat difficult and required a bit of luck.

Chi Shuyan was absorbed in her work as she bent her head and tried to draw the talisman. She had long forgotten that there was someone else in the room, and was still holding the man’s big hand. She stayed in the hotel for the entire afternoon and evening until she successfully drew a high-level Fiend Suppression Talisman.

A call from Zhu Bocheng pulled Chi Shuyan back to her senses, but it was Qi Zhenbai who answered her phone.

As soon as Zhu Bocheng heard his friend’s voice, he thought he had misheard. When he continued to hear his friend’s voice, and even vaguely heard something about a “shower,” Zhu Bocheng checked the time and saw that it was 11:00 PM. His head immediately exploded.

Holy sh*t, Zhenbai and Sister Shuyan were moving so fast? They had gotten to third base tonight?

Zhu Bocheng blurted out in excitement, “Zhenbai, is Sister Shuyan okay? You didn’t go too hard, did you? Can Sister Shuyan still talk? May you have a child soon! Don’t forget me as the godfather when the time comes!”
