Chapter 638: Chapter 638 Going Home (1/2)

The assistant didn’t think much of it and searched for Mei Mengzhen’s MicroBlog, but after the assistant followed her, he realized his mistake. He had intended to ask the assistant to contact MicroBlog’s backend for an authentication or something, but as it turned out, Mei Mengzhen’s account was already authenticated.

Below her MicroBlog authentication, it labeled her as "One of the founders of Mei Mengzhen Charitable Foundation," which left An Fang’s assistant slightly dumbfounded. He quickly showed the authentication to An Fang, whose eyes brightened in surprise, "Oh, Zhenzhen even started her own charity foundation. Quite thoughtful for someone so young."

Mei Mengzhen waved her hand bashfully and pointed at Yan Keke, saying, "No, no, it was Keke who founded it. I just invested and joined later on."

Yan Keke modestly declined to take credit, "But the foundation’s initial funding came mostly from you, so it’s essentially something we founded together."

An Fang’s assistant opened Mei Mengzhen’s following list and found that among the few people Mei Mengzhen was connected with—Yan Keke, He Yiran, Fan Tianyu, Pei Ziyu, as well as Mei Mengzhen’s Fan Support Club and the Beast Angel Foundation and so on—all had verified accounts.

An Fang, curious, took the phone and opened up Mei Mengzhen’s Fan Support Club, noticing that although it wasn’t very formal, for someone who was an amateur to have their own fan club with a significant number of followers was quite an accomplishment.

An Fang was surprised yet delighted, "Hey, Zhenzhen already had a fan club in school? Who’s spoiling her with this support club?"

At this moment, An Fang really believed that Mei Mengzhen was born to be in this field, whereas Mei Mengzhen herself seemed a bit embarrassed, "No, it’s all Keke’s doing, she’s the one managing the fan club."

An Fang glanced at the fan count unexpectedly found that the fan club had quite a following. More importantly, every post had numerous shares and comments, clearly indicating the fans’ activity level. It seemed that Mei Mengzhen was already quite popular at school.

However, Mei Mengzhen still asked one more question, "Is this account okay? Or should I switch to a different one?"

An Fang felt there was no need, "This one is fine. This one is already authenticated, but you still need to add your identity as an actor."

Having said this, An Fang then instructed his assistant to get in touch with MicroBlog’s backend for authentication, and to follow the film’s official MicroBlog as well as the main cast. For now, that was enough.

With the important stuff out of the way, An Fang suddenly developed a slight interest in Mei Mengzhen’s charity organization. He asked, "What projects does your charity foundation undertake?"

This was Yan Keke’s area of work, and Mei Mengzhen quickly replied, "The foundation’s person in charge is Keke. If you’re interested, let her tell you about it. I’m usually just responsible for driving and delivering goods. I don’t really get involved with the rest."

Yan Keke, who was very committed to her charitable organization and hands-on with almost all of its activities, had much to say, "Our foundation hasn’t been established for long, and we’re trying to figure things out as we go. Initially, we started with small animal welfare projects for stray cats and dogs, and later on, educational funds. In short, we cover a wide range of activities."

After speaking, Yan Keke worried they might not be very interested in all of this, so she kept it brief. However, the others didn’t show much interest -- it was just a casual inquiry. Fortunately, Yan Keke didn’t elaborate further, and after a brief exchange, the conversation shifted back to Mei Mengzhen.

After chatting a little while longer, the late-night snack session came to an end, and after a good night’s sleep, it was time for Mei Mengzhen to officially leave the production crew.

Although she was leaving, the items sent from Xiyuan couldn’t possibly be taken with her. Mei Mengzhen took this opportunity to do a good turn by distributing what was left to An Fang and Ji Chengnan.

But don’t assume what she gave was just leftovers; there was a whole unopened box of wine, and the snacks she hadn’t even had time to eat were almost all given to these two. But speaking of leaving, she was actually quite concerned about Huang Jing, "I’m departing; do you have any other work arrangements here?"

Huang Jing replied, "Yes, the production team has already assigned me to Lu Tong."

Lu Tong was the new second male lead in the film. With Mei Mengzhen leaving and Lu Tong just coming in, handing Huang Jing over to Lu Tong was a budget-wise routine operation that avoided the need to hire someone new.

But Mei Mengzhen wasn’t one to begrudge such things; her own role was minor, and she couldn’t expect others to be out of work just because she was leaving.

Mei Mengzhen nodded her head and did not inquire any further. After bidding farewell, she left the hotel.

Huang Jing was originally going to drive her down the mountain, but since He Yiran had sent a car, there was no need for Huang Jing to do so.

After getting into the car, Mei Mengzhen felt that her life over the past few days was like a dream, "It’s over already? It feels so surreal."

The filming felt unreal, and the end of it too. There was a hint of sadness in her heart, but also a bit of happiness.

Yan Keke smiled and said, "I think it must be because you, Zhenzhen, enjoy acting. If you like it, and someone approaches you for a role, just take it."

"I can’t just take any role, though. I have to look at the script. I should only take on good scripts. What’s the point of shooting a lousy film? I’m not short of money," Mei Mengzhen replied.

Fan Tianyu laughed, "You may not be short of money, but you haven’t graduated yet. Remember, you belong to the Computer Department. You were quite clear before that you didn’t like it, so why are you reluctant to leave now?"

"I’m not really reluctant, it just felt like fun to act," she replied.

Fan Tianyu warned, "You’d better not think about acting in the future and neglect your studies."

"Of course not. I’m just feeling a little down right now. Brother Tianyu, you don’t need to worry so much. How much can acting earn me? But I do think this industry could be a nice side-job. Picking up a film in my spare time to change things up sounds quite nice," Mei Mengzhen assured him.

Yan Keke actually supported Mei Mengzhen’s idea, "Right, there’s no need to rush into the industry if you don’t have a strong passion for it. Honestly, there are a lot of unwritten rules in the Entertainment Circle, and with your character, Zhenzhen ... I’m not worried about you getting the short end of the stick, but rather stirring up storms. Entertainment gossip is endless. If you took over the headlines, no one would get any peace."

The possibility really existed. Just the thought of being on the gossip headlines every day, with numerous secret admirers following her, suddenly turned Mei Mengzhen off the idea, "Well, let’s talk about that later. Even if acting is just a sideline, I won’t just take any role. And it’s not like there will necessarily be offers. Besides, I should focus on my studies for now."

Listening to Mei Mengzhen, Fan Tianyu finally felt somewhat relieved.

After returning to flat ground, Mei Mengzhen and Yan Keke slept soundly for a day and a night. Finally, their routine started to get back to normal. Looking at the time, there was only a week before school started. Mei Mengzhen really felt it was about time to head back.
