Chapter 642: Chapter 642: Inquiring (3/5)

It’s true I didn’t mention it, mainly because there wasn’t time," Fan Tianyu replied. "After all, he just had to deliver the supplies and then come back. Whether he mentioned it or not didn’t really matter. We can’t be of any help here, just in the way. Once the supplies arrive tomorrow, we’ll be back."

"That would be just in time to register Qiuhe for school. By the way, when you see Brother Yongwang tomorrow, let him know too. His second aunt is going to come with us, so he doesn’t think of staying there for a few days without returning."

"Ah, the second aunt is coming too?"

"Yes, it just so happens to be the weekend, so all our aunts planned to come together." Listening to Mei Mengzhen’s helpless tone, Fan Tianyu couldn’t help but twitch the corner of his mouth, "Alright, Mengcheng isn’t here either, remember to stay at Xiyuan these next few days. It would be helpful if there were any issues you could deal with. If you can’t handle it, call me."

Of course, there was nothing at Xiyuan that Mei Mengzhen couldn’t handle on her own, considering that even when he encountered problems, he would turn to Mei Mengzhen for solutions.

"Okay, okay, I’ll be at Xiyuan. Not just me, Yiran, Keke, Ruirui... everyone is here." Naturally, Wang Qiuhe was there too, but her phone wasn’t on speaker, so she couldn’t hear what Fan Tianyu was saying.

"Alright, hanging up now."

No sooner had Mei Mengzhen hung up the phone than Yan Keke immediately asked, "What’s up, have the supplies arrived?"

"They have, there’s a shortage of supplies over there, and we happened to catch up with them."

He Yiran remarked, "What good timing for your delivery, weren’t you afraid they wouldn’t accept them?"

In situations like this, supplies are always in shortage whether the disaster is big or small. Everything they sent was bound to be accepted.

However, speaking of school, Mei Mengzhen asked, "Ruirui, are you going to school this year?"

Fu Rui was a year older than them, but due to a year off from school, she had only completed her freshman year of college. If she continued her studies this year, she could graduate with them. But if she decided not to, the next time they met, she would be their junior.

Fu Rui replied, "Yes, I’ve asked my brother to handle the registration. I’ll be heading to class when the term starts. I’m already a year older than you guys; I can’t graduate later than you."

"It’s good to go to school, the sooner you start, the sooner you graduate. Otherwise, you might end up dragging it out without knowing when you’ll be done."

But speaking of which, He Yiran said, "Zhenzhen, the mooncakes? It’s been several days since we got back, and I haven’t even had a taste of the mooncakes, nor have I decided on the prices."

Mooncakes?

It then dawned on Mei Mengzhen that she had already sent over the materials, but hadn’t set the prices yet. "Right, the prices. How did you set them?"

"I haven’t tasted them, but after looking at the pictures, I set a few price points. For the two-piece mooncake set, I set it at 3,499 yuan; for the five-piece set, 7,999 yuan; and for the eight-piece set, 9,999 yuan. What do you think of these prices?"

Mei Mengzhen did some quick math and, according to He Yiran’s prices, the unit price for the two-piece mooncake set was 1,749.5 yuan, for the five-piece set 1,599.8 yuan, and for the eight-piece set 1,249.8 yuan. The difference in pricing was quite apparent; after all, there’s a whole 500 yuan between 1,749 and 1,249.

Mei Mengzhen continued, "You set these price points to encourage people to buy the larger set, didn’t you?"

"Right, a higher unit price but a better deal. If it were me, I’d definitely buy the larger set. Plus, the people who can afford these mooncakes aren’t likely to be short of money."

Mei Mengzhen nodded, naturally not objecting since the prices were already much lower than what she had expected from He Yiran’s initial pricing, "That’s fine, let’s go with these prices. Send a message over and let them know. By the way, haven’t you guys had any mooncakes?"

At the mention of mooncakes, everyone got excited, "What mooncakes? Brother Mei sent all of them over there in one go, the staff there probably gobbled them all up after filming the materials. How would there be any left for us?"

Truth be told, it was quite pitiful that they didn’t even get to taste the mooncakes.

Mei Mengzhen found it amusing, "Seriously, why didn’t you say anything? The delivery yesterday could have just included some for us on the way over."

Upon hearing Mei Mengzhen’s words, everyone’s howling resumed, but Wang Qiuhe caught on to something amiss, "Sister Zhenzhen, why are you the one arranging the delivery for Xiyuan?"

"Because I work at Xiyuan, of course. It’s my part-time job, handling contact with the suppliers for deliveries. That’s how I earn my living expenses."

Despite her explanation, Wang Qiuhe was clearly skeptical. She had noticed several clues during their time together. For instance, the staff at Xiyuan were always very polite to Fan Tianyu and Mei Mengzhen, allowing them free range of the premises, and the fact that Mei Mengzhen was in charge of contacting suppliers for Xiyuan’s necessities. Plus, Tianhua’s workplace was actually Xiyuan—Wang Qiuhe had sneakily seen Tianhua’s staff ID.

Although Wang Qiuhe wasn’t the sharpest, her IQ skyrocketed when it came to money. She had overheard at home that Tianhua worked with Tianyu, and Tianhua’s job at Xiyuan could imply that Tianyu was in fact the Boss of Xiyuan. This also explained another incident when Qi Yongwang ran into a classmate there, and Tianyu hastily arranged for Yongwang to bring the classmate over for a meal.

If Xiyuan was indeed owned by Tianyu, then Mei Mengzhen’s contact with the suppliers would make sense; Mengzhen was working for Tianyu, and her living expenses were all provided by him.

Wang Qiuhe was getting closer to the truth, but she knew from the start that living in their house meant being ready for exposure. Besides, now that the whole group had moved to Jiangcheng, even those pesky relatives who wanted to make trouble would find it difficult, unless they no longer wanted to work and could afford to hang around Mei Yinan’s home as they did back in Xincheng.

Moreover, Mei Yinan herself would not allow these clingy relatives to follow her to Jiangcheng to create trouble. She might not go out of her way to assist Mei Mengzhen, but she would never allow these bothersome relatives to pester Tianyu; it was a matter of family lineage. So, if they were to trouble Tianyu, Mengzhen had no worries—Yinan would surely handle it efficiently.

Whether Wang Qiuhe believed it or not, this was what was said.

But as for their craving for mooncakes, they definitely couldn’t be satisfied today. Mei Mengzhen suggested, "How about this, I’ll ask them to deliver them to my place, and when we meet tomorrow at Xiyuan, I’ll bring them over to you."

However, there was no need, "Zhenzhen, did you forget we’re all living together? There’s no need for that hassle. Once your mooncakes have arrived, just let us know, and we’ll pick them up from your place."

"Ah, isn’t Yiran staying at the hotel?"

He Yiran clarified, "No, I’ve been living at my own place since I came back, and Ruirui is staying with me."

"Alright then, I’ll get in touch with them, and once it’s delivered, I’ll contact you."
