Chapter 680: Chapter 680: Already Got The Certificate (2/2)

"Let’s make saozi noodles. What do we have in the fridge? I’ll cook."

Saozi noodles are just a general name; each region has its different version. The saozi here is made with day lilies, black fungus, potatoes, carrots, and lean meat. It can be served as a soup noodle or dry mixed—without soup—and they also like to add an egg in it.

Mei Mengchen and I have the same taste; we both like it dry mixed. Of course, the soup isn’t much to fuss about, either. The broth used for cooking the noodles is fine, or you could make a separate broth; it just depends on what you feel like eating. When we’re eating at home, we just do whatever is convenient.

Seeing that Zhenzhen was cooking for her brother, Mei Yinan naturally didn’t start cooking. She prepared all the necessary ingredients and then went about her business, leaving Zhenzhen to work on the cooking alone.

Zhenzhen hadn’t cooked for a very long time and was worried that it wouldn’t taste good, so while stir-frying the saozi, she also added some Spiritual Spring Water, hoping it would enhance the flavor a bit.

When the saozi was ready, Zhenzhen didn’t count how many people there were; she just boiled all the eggs on the kitchen counter. Because there were so many eggs, she had to wait to cook the noodles in the next batch. Thus, it shocked Mei Yinan, who had just returned from a stroll, "You’ve boiled too many eggs; we can’t finish it all."

"I boiled them to be marbled eggs; we should be able to finish them."

Regardless of whether they could be finished, the eggs were already boiled, and there was no stopping it now.

After the eggs were ready, Zhenzhen scooped them out into a bowl and then used the water for boiling the eggs, adding some cold water before starting to cook the noodles,

Just as she put the noodles into the pot, over there, Mei Mengchen, wearing little slippers, ’pitter-pattered’ over to the kitchen doorway to see what she was doing.

Zhenzhen glanced unintentionally and saw Mengchen. She smiled and said, "Chenchen, you’re up."

Mengchen nodded his head, "Mm, sister, are you making breakfast?"

"Yes, today is Chenchen’s birthday. Sister is making you longevity noodles. Hurry and wash up; otherwise, the noodles will be ready, and they’ll start to clump together if we just let them sit."

Mengchen remembered that clumped noodles didn’t taste good, so he hurried off to the restroom to wash up.

He had used the toiletries the night before, so there was no frantic search. Mengchen was accustomed to sorting things out for himself, and there was no need for worry. By the time her noodles were ready, Mengchen had already come out of the restroom.

The first bowl of noodles naturally belonged to Mengchen. Zhenzhen specially prepared a small bowl for him, filled it with noodles, added two spoonfuls of saozi, topped it with an egg, and then placed it on the table.

Zhenzhen said, "Hurry up and come to the table for breakfast."

"Mm-hmm." Mengchen excitedly nodded his head and snapped into the chair next to the dining table. Zhenzhen said to him, "Happy birthday, Chenchen. Starting today, our Chenchen is a 6-year-old kid."

Everyone remembered then, oh, that’s right, today is Mengchen’s birthday.

No matter if they were fully awake or not, everyone quickly offered their blessings.

"Happy birthday, Chenchen."

"Happy birthday, Chenchen."

After thanking everyone, Mengchen began to eat his bowl of noodles. However, after taking a big bite, he realized just how delicious they were, "Sister, it’s so tasty."

The others didn’t know if this was true or not, but Mengchen was indeed telling the truth. After all, how could noodles with Spiritual Spring Water not taste great, not to mention that the ingredients were from Xiyuan, so the quality of the noodles was undeniable.

When everyone had their own portion of noodles, they realized that Mengchen wasn’t just exaggerating; the noodles really were delicious.

Mengcheng remarked, "Who would’ve thought, Zhenzhen, that you are so skilled?"

Fan Tianyu, who had eaten Zhenzhen’s cooking the most among everyone, couldn’t help but praise her, "They’re genuinely delicious. Zhenzhen has improved her culinary skills. In a bit more time, she’ll catch up to Chef Pei."

Zhenzhen, unamused, replied, "Why not just say I’ve already surpassed Chef Pei now? Stop flattering and just eat."

The group sat down at the table, eating breakfast and chatting away. After a while, Mei Yifang and her family also arrived, and everyone got themselves a bowl of noodles to start the day’s breakfast.

Zhenzhen turned to Qi Yongwang and asked, "Brother Yongwang, when does your school start?"

"A week earlier than yours. Why, is there something you need?"

Zhenzhen thought for a moment and said, "Well, Brother Yongwang, if you’re not too busy, could you help Keke out for another week? She mentioned it to me yesterday; she needs someone to drive for her. I’ll be busy at Xiyuan with the goods and won’t have time to help her. Yiran is wrapping up and returning to Beijing, and Brother Tianyu has his hands full. Consider it a part-time job, and we’ll settle your wages before you leave."

Qi Yongwang naturally didn’t have a problem with that, "Alright, I’ll stay with you guys until school starts."

"Stay as long as you want; nobody’s kicking you out. But I changed the password, I’ll send it to you later." Tianyu laughed, finishing off his bowl of noodles and then getting himself another one, along with two more eggs for his bowl, clearly having a big appetite.

It wasn’t just Tianyu; almost everyone had seconds, so much so that the originally cooked 30 eggs were not enough. Tianyu alone ate seven, not to mention the others. Breakfast ended up counting four pots of noodles and three trays of eggs, which made Yinan jokingly complain about feeding pigs.

Regardless of what Yinan said, breakfast was successfully handled. However, after breakfast, the issue everyone was worried about soon followed.

They hadn’t come to Xincheng just to have breakfast; it was the midday meal that was the main event. Who knew, after the previous day’s incident, how things would turn out today?

The best-case scenario was that Yifan would keep her composure and not cause a scene at the wedding. The worst-case scenario was a disrupted marriage ceremony for Yongfu.

But no matter what, even though it was his second marriage, it was still someone’s wedding. Regardless of how many times you get married, for a woman, the wedding ceremony is truly an event to be remembered for a long time. If there was a disturbance, it would not be a good look.

Yifan seemed to be the kind of person who doesn’t consider the occasion all that much. If she really stirred up trouble, and Yongfu’s marriage didn’t go through, whose fault would it be?

When doubts arose among them, Yinan naturally said, "It definitely won’t be our fault. No matter what happens with the wedding, they got their marriage certificate long ago. Even if the ceremony doesn’t go through, the two of them won’t split up."

At most, because of this incident, their future relationship might be tense, and life certainly wouldn’t be pleasant. Given Yongfu’s petty nature, Yifan would have a tough time ahead. After all, when it comes to being calculating, Yifan really can’t compete with Yongfu.
