Rebirth: I became rich by farming

Chapter 694 Assistant Salary (2/2)

Chapter 694: Chapter 694 Assistant Salary (2/2)

Looking into Luo Yingying’s eyes, He Yiran felt as if all her kindness had been wasted on a dog, and she was instantly speechless, "Damn, I should never have held any nice wishes for her, still hoping she’d do well, with her character unchanged, she’s bound to suffer at the hands of others sooner or later."

But it wasn’t their business to worry about who might take advantage of Yingying; they just needed to look after themselves.

Class time seemed much, much longer than the time spent playing games at home, but finally, after lunchtime, it was time to take the photos. Mei Mengzhen and her group followed Liu Pei back to the dorms. Compared to others, Mei Mengzhen was much more popular, and when people heard that Mei Mengzhen was taking photos for Liu Pei for free, they were green with envy.

When Mei Mengzhen put on Liu Pei’s jewelry, someone in the crowd said, "Zhenzhen, you are willing to take photos for Peipei now, so why didn’t you want to take photos for Yingying before?"

This comment was obviously stirring trouble and everyone’s gaze shifted between Mei Mengzhen and the person who had asked the question.

Yan Keke couldn’t stand to see Mei Mengzhen wronged and was about to retort when Mei Mengzhen spoke first, "I’d like to ask why you say I was unwilling to take photos for Yingying. Besides, Yingying and Peipei were partners in the clothing business before."

Mei Mengzhen’s explanation made sense, and the crowd had a moment of realization, "Yeah, the business was a partnership between Peipei and Yingying before."

The person glared at her and asked again, "But you just didn’t want to take pictures for the previous business, yet you’re willing to do it for the current Peipei."

"It’s not that I didn’t want to, but the style of those clothes didn’t suit me, they were cute, which has never been my style. Why should I force myself to take photos of clothes I don’t like just because she’s my classmate?" After finishing her point, Mei Mengzhen added, "And who are you, anyway? Did Luo Yingying send you to stand up for her? But does she even know you’re doing this?"

Of course, Luo Yingying didn’t know, as she didn’t even recognize this person ’standing up’ for her. At this moment, Yingying wasn’t at the dorms since she had been stopped by Chen Zhi on her way back. Chen Zhi blocked Yingying’s path, saying, "Yingying, what do you mean by leaving me alone at the film set like that?"

"I left you? Don’t you know why I left?"

Chen Zhi felt a bit guilty, knowing full well why Luo Yingying had left. It was because she couldn’t stand her bad temper, though everyone in the showbiz has a temper and throws tantrums. Comparatively, she had treated Luo Yingying quite well compared to how other actors’ assistants were treated.

Luo Yingying saw right through Chen Zhi’s eyes, "What’s the point of comparing me with others? They were hired as assistants by others, but I became your assistant because we were friends. Chen Zhi, so the reason you approached me in the first place was to have me work as your assistant? Fine then, there should be a salary, right?"

Chen Zhi was taken aback, "What salary?"

"The assistant’s salary. At least an assistant who’s been upset gets a salary; I can’t be upset and not get paid, right? If you consider me your assistant, then pay me the salary."

Chen Zhi was speechless, "At the end of the day, it’s all about money for you."

But it really wasn’t for Luo Yingying. She said, "Chen Zhi, you approached me first, because of you I fell out with Zhenzhen and the others; if it wasn’t for you, I would also..."

"So now you’re regretting it."

Regretting wasn’t really the word. Chen Zhi had indeed approached Luo Yingying purposefully, influenced by her own volition and not immune to other people’s instigation, "Enough with your nonsense. You’ve finished shooting the drama, presumably, you don’t need any assistants or friends now, right? Either give me a salary or leave, don’t block my way."

After saying that, Luo Yingying turned around and left, leaving Chen Zhi standing there, choking on her breath.

Back at the dormitory, Mei Mengzhen had almost finished taking photos of the jewelry. It was no secret that Mei Mengzhen had beautiful skin, and since she was slim, the photos hardly needed any retouching before being used.

Tian Sha, who had taken the photos, felt quite sentimental, "Ah, these photos are really beautiful."

Speaking of photos, Tian Sha asked, "Zhenzhen, I can post the photos of our summer vacation trip on Weibo now, right?"

Had Tian Sha not mentioned it, Mei Mengzhen would have really forgotten about those photos. She responded, "Sure, but Tian Sha, have you finished retouching the photos of me and my brother? I want to enlarge it and have it printed to hang in our home."

"They’re all retouched. I sent you the whole batch in an email when I got back. Zhenzhen, tell me you haven’t forgotten to check your email until now."

Mei Mengzhen choked with embarrassment, as she truly hadn’t checked since, besides receiving transcripts, there seemed to be little else that needed her to check her email. So, it was no surprise she had ’accidentally’ missed it. Mengzhen smiled awkwardly, "Hehe, I’ll take a look later."

There was quite a crowd watching their photo session. Hearing about Mei Mengzhen’s photos, people began to ask, "What photos? What photos are you talking about, how come we haven’t seen them?"

Yan Keke quickly said, "Don’t rush, don’t worry. As tonight’s back-to-school gift, I’ll send them to everyone in the group and synchronize them on Weibo. You’ll be able to see them tonight. We spent several days taking these photos as part of a series, so there’s not just this one set."

It has to be said that Yan Keke’s campus marketing was quite impressive. With just a few words, she had piqued everyone’s interest, and she added, "These photos were all taken and retouched by Tian Sha, and Tian Sha’s skills are truly indisputable."

Once her photos were released, it seemed likely that Tian Sha would be overwhelmingly busy for a while, because if there was money to be made, Tian Sha doubtless wouldn’t want to miss out on earning it.

Monday afternoon’s classes lasted until 6 pm, which meant she definitely couldn’t pick up her brother; Tianyu had already taken care of it himself. Mei Mengzhen wasn’t in a hurry to go home after school. She put the photos of her and her brother on a USB drive and brought them to a photo shop to have them printed. When she got home, Tianyu was cooking in the kitchen, where smoke was billowing and strong enough to make anyone choke. Mei Mengzhen didn’t even bother to change her shoes; she rushed to ask, "Brother Tianyu, what are you doing?"

"Cooking," Tianyu replied as if it was the most obvious thing in the world. Of course, Mei Mengzhen could see that Tianyu was cooking, but the question was, could Tianyu actually cook?

Tianyu’s cooking skills were limited to making technically simple foods like noodles, dumpling soup, and dumplings. Cooking meals was another story... "Brother Tianyu, I can see what you’re trying to do, but maybe I should take over."

Tianyu felt speechless himself. He just wanted to cook a meal, but why did it always turn out like this?
