Chapter 1017: We Have a Guest at Home

Chapter 1017: Chapter 1017: We Have a Guest at Home

"Mom, I brought Sister Xie home and plan to let her stay for a few days. The things in the newspapers are actually just a misunderstanding," Tang Yue carefully explained the origin of the newspaper events to Mo Xiaolin.

"In the past, Sister Xie was indeed involved with Zheng Qingchun, but that was years ago. After Zheng Qingchun got married, Sister Xie never did anything to interfere with anyone’s marriage."

Worried that Mo Xiaolin might be upset, Tang Yue specially added, "The criticism of Sister Xie in the newspapers is really too one-sided."

"Xiao Yue, you don’t need to explain. Any friend you associate with must be good," Mo Xiaolin was not unhappy about Tang Yue bringing Xie Ni back, she said, "Now that she’s in trouble, as a friend, it’s right to help."

"Thank you, Mom."

Tang Yue truly appreciated Mo Xiaolin’s understanding.

In the living room, Xie Ni was accompanying Zaozao and Chenchen, or more accurately, she was with Chenchen.

Chenchen snuggled up to Xie Ni, pestering her to learn how to sing. The two of them were singing softly, with Chenchen nestled in Xie Ni’s arms, her big eyes blinking cutely.

"Sis, aren’t Dad and Mom coming back?" Lian Qingyang noticed neither Tang Zhengde nor Zhang Hualian were home.

Tang Yue replied, "It’s a busy time at the restaurant, maybe Mom is helping out there."

Zhenghua Restaurant had established a firm foothold in Jing City, earning a steady hundred or two thousand a year. They hired a chef and staff, so Tang Zhengde didn’t have to be there all the time, but he wasn’t at ease otherwise, insisting on helping out there.

Sometimes, when the restaurant was too busy, Zhang Hualian would help out there too.

"Uncle Tang can’t sit still. All he has to do is be a boss and not overwork himself," Lian Qingyang said cheerfully. If he just took it easy as a boss, he wouldn’t be so worn out.

"Both he and Mom can’t seem to sit still for too long," Tang Yue didn’t know how to persuade Tang Zhengde and Zhang Hualian. Every time she told them not to work so hard, they would only set aside time to take care of the kids if she needed them, otherwise they’d be helping at the restaurant.

"Chenchen, don’t pester Auntie anymore, go wash your hands and eat," as soon as Tang Yue spoke, Chenchen obediently went to wash her hands.

After dinner, Lian Qingyang said, "Sis, I’ll go pick up Uncle Tang and Mom."

Mo Xiaolin took the two kids to play, and Meng Siyu had been coming home after dinner lately.

In the living room, only Tang Yue and Xie Ni were left.

Tang Yue planned to chat with Xie Ni, but Xie Ni spoke first, "I want to leave this industry."

Having been in the industry for nearly a decade, Xie Ni experienced both obscurity and enormous fame, holding several concerts. She loved the stage deeply, but this incident left her disheartened.

"Sister Xie, your songs are so beautiful; it would be a pity to leave this industry," Tang Yue tried to persuade. Despite the chaos, Xie Ni’s voice seemed born for singing. Quitting because of this would be a real loss.

"Xiao Yue, I’m pretty tired. I love singing, but dislike all the social obligations," thinking about it wore Xie Ni out—she just wanted to sing purely.

Tang Yue moved her lips, deciding not to continue persuading. Xie Ni’s desire to leave the industry due to the newspaper incident was understandable.

Night.

Tang Yue prepared a room for Xie Ni, equipped with everything needed, including a computer. With many books at home, Xie Ni picked a few to read in her room.

"Is there a guest at home?"

When Meng Siyu came back, he noticed an extra person in the house.

"Sister Xie will be staying with us for a few days," Tang Yue was about to explain, but Meng Siyu already held her as they went to rest.

Meng Siyu kissed her forehead, saying, "Wife, as long as you’re happy."

"Sister Xie..."

Tang Yue just started to speak, but Meng interrupted, "Wife, let’s not talk about others at our loving moments."

With that, Meng Siyu sealed her lips, not giving her another chance to speak.

"How is it?" Tang Yue asked Wu Xin.

"Zheng Qingchun hasn’t said anything, but this silent approval makes everyone believe it’s true," Wu Xin reported on what she found, "Even Zheng Qingchun’s wife had no reaction. I found out there was a transaction in Zheng Qingchun’s account before the incident."

"From Shen Qingqing?" Tang Yue asked.

"Though the transactions were shuffled around, it was indeed her. Investigating this took quite some effort, Shen Qingqing tried to hide by going through foreign channels."

"Could it be because Sister Xie refused to endorse, she wants to ruin her?" Tang Yue frowned at the thought. As for Zheng Qingchun, his unyielding interest in Sister Xie, receiving money was just a compromise on reputation, a win-win to him.

"Do you have a photo of Zheng Qingchun’s wife?" Tang Yue asked.

She had only heard that Zheng Qingchun married into wealth and wondered about their situation.

"Yes."

Wu Xin took out a photo of Zheng Qingchun and his wife, Hu Xian. Hu Xian’s appearance and her name didn’t match at all; tall, strong, exuding a powerful aura—made-up, she seemed like a matron.

Tang Yue glanced at the photo, then summoned the agent to ask, "Has Zheng Qingchun been trying to get close to Sister Xie for a while?"

"Yes, but Sister Xie never agreed nor met him. Even if they had met, nothing would have come of it," the agent confidently confirmed. Sister Xie preaches quality over quantity. Back then, Zheng Qingchun tried to bag something better and left Sister Xie. Although it hurt, she was strong and never intended to look back.

Moreover, Zheng Qingchun was married. For a married man, Sister Xie knew her boundaries well.

"I see," Tang Yue nodded, instructing the agent to keep an ear out for external news. She gathered her thoughts before looking for Xie Ni.

Having just woken up from a nap, Xie Ni was sitting by the window, enjoying the summer breeze, reading a book. These past few days, Xie Ni either played with Zaozao and Chenchen, taught Chenchen to sing, or simply enjoyed soothing music, a cup of tea, a book—for half a day at a time.

"Sister Xie."

Tang Yue approached with a smile, noticing the drastic positive change in Xie Ni’s demeanor compared to before, she seemed much calmer and tranquil now.

"Xiao Yue, it’s really comfortable here," Xie Ni gestured for Tang Yue to sit. Staying here wasn’t spacious but was peaceful and comfortable, making her forget the outside troubles.
