Chapter 1141: Almost Let It Slip
Chapter 1141: Chapter 1141: Almost Let It Slip
When Meng Siyu hurried home, he saw Tang Mingli and the others there. He wasn’t surprised, just relieved a lot. He had to return to the company and couldn’t stay with Tang Jun all the time. If Tang Mingli was there, it made Meng Siyu a bit more at ease.
Tang Zhengde and Zhang Hualian weren’t in Jing City, and Tang Yue was also still in Country F and hadn’t returned yet. As the brother-in-law, Meng Siyu naturally had to treat Tang Jun’s matters as his own. If anything happened to Tang Jun, it wouldn’t just cause worry for Tang Yue and the others; Meng Siyu himself would feel guilty.
"Xiao Jun, how are you doing?"
Meng Siyu was asking about the results from the hospital checkup. During the day, Meng Siyu had to go back to the company and couldn’t accompany Tang Jun.
"Brother-in-law, the doctor said my body is fine. As for my eyes, it’s a matter of luck; maybe they’ll be okay by tomorrow." Tang Jun said optimistically.
Meng Siyu encouraged him: "It’s great that you’re thinking this way. Tomorrow I’ll visit Xiao Yang; he has a wide network and can ask around to see if there are any experts in this field. Don’t lose hope."
Tang Jun was somewhat flattered, knowing that Meng Siyu rarely spoke to him in such a gentle manner.
Well, it’s not that Meng Siyu is bad, but he treats Tang Jun and Lian Qingyang quite strictly, like a stern parent in their eyes.
"Brother-in-law, don’t worry; I’m not going to give up." Tang Jun promised earnestly.
Meng Siyu nodded and then greeted Tang Mingli, saying: "What brings you here too?"
Tang Jun was supposed to keep this matter a secret, so how did Tang Mingli know about it?
Tang Mingli rolled his eyes at him and said: "Meng Siyu, have you no manners? I’m your uncle."
Back when they were classmates, Tang Mingli was somewhat intimidated by Meng Siyu, but later they became familiar. Meng Siyu always stood his ground, and now, thanks to Tang Yue’s status, Meng Siyu’s generation rank increased, causing Tang Mingli to place himself above Meng Siyu whenever possible.
"Tang Mingli, I know you look a bit older. You don’t have to remind me. I’m just worried about calling you old. Who would believe we’re classmates if we stand together?"
Meng Siyu’s words were like daggers piercing Tang Mingli’s heart.
"Uncle, you can’t win against brother-in-law." Tang Jun grinned broadly. In his eyes, his brother-in-law was like a god, invincible.
Even though Tang Jun was gradually gaining fame within the company, he was still far from the legendary feats of Meng Siyu, whom he’s always regarded as a role model.
"Tang Jun, you’re my nephew. Should you be saying that about your uncle?"
Tang Mingli felt a sting in his heart, and he couldn’t resist refuting Tang Jun’s glee: "Tang Jun, I’m not criticizing, but you and Meng Siyu are only ten years apart, yet your skills are far behind."
"Uncle, how about we have a spar? Even if I can’t see, beating you would be easy." Tang Jun rubbed his wrist, confident.
Tang Mingli: "..."
Feeling even more hurt instantly.
"Hahaha~"
Wei Jiajia laughed out loud, unreservedly, saying: "Mingli, you’d better not fight Xiao Jun. It’d be too embarrassing if you lost."
Tang Mingli: Wife, must you undermine your man like that?
Even though this is the truth, couldn’t you be less blunt?
The room burst into laughter, interrupted by the phone ringing. Meng Siyu checked his phone; it was indeed Tang Yue calling.
"I’ll take a call." Meng Siyu got up to answer Tang Yue’s call.
"Darling."
Meng Siyu eagerly placed the phone to his ear, as talking to his wife every day was the happiest part of his day.
"Have you had dinner?" Tang Yue looked at the city street scene outside, with a slight smile.
Meng Siyu looked up at the sky, imagining Tang Yue doing the same, both gazing at the sun, feeling warm inside and saying: "I ate at the company; what about you? You’re not so busy you forgot dinner, are you?"
"I ate." Tang Yue affirmed: "With Xiao Yan and Ding Ling around, it’s hard to forget dinner even if I tried."
Tang Yue spread her hand, asking: "You said you ate at the company. So where are you now? At mom and dad’s?"
Tang Yue thought Meng Siyu brought the two kids to the Meng Family, back to the compound.
"No, I’m at home." Meng Siyu replied and then explained: "Xiao Jun came back, so I’m here gathering with Uncle and others."
"Xiao Jun is back?"
Tang Yue promptly said: "Why haven’t I heard his voice? Quickly, let me talk to him."
Meng Siyu: "..."
Darling, I haven’t finished talking yet.
Yet, on the other side of the call, Tang Yue kept urging, prompting Zaozao who had stood at the door, excitedly asking: "Is it mom?"
Zaozao knew that mom always called every evening. Though the timing wasn’t always fixed, she surely would call.
Meng Siyu remained silent, simply putting the phone to Zaozao’s ear, where Zaozao excitedly said: "Mom, I miss you."
After saying that, Zaozao’s ears turned a slight blush. He was usually reserved in expressing emotions. Since birth, the three of them had few periods apart from each other. The last time Tang Yue went to Su City, Zaozao and Chenchen missed mom tremendously.
This time, mom had been gone for ten days, and Zaozao missed mom even more. Although he could hear mom’s voice daily, not being able to see her gentle smile made Zaozao feel empty inside.
"Zaozao, mom misses you too." Upon hearing her son’s voice, Tang Yue’s smile grew wider.
In the room, Chenchen, hearing the voice, came over to snatch the phone from Zaozao. The siblings kept talking back and forth, joyfully.
The call eventually reached Tang Jun.
Zaozao and Chenchen stared eagerly at Tang Jun, wishing they could press their ears to him.
Eventually, Chenchen found it tiring and couldn’t hear much, reluctantly stepping away.
Zaozao, being a boy, even though he wanted to listen, wasn’t as bold as Chenchen to cling to Tang Jun, listening closely.
"Sis." Tang Jun looked at Zaozao and Chenchen, who were reluctant to leave, saying: "Zaozao and Chenchen really miss you. They still want to talk to you."
"They’ve said everything they wanted to; those two would love to talk to me every day." Tang Yue spoke with a warm smile, fully aware of Zaozao and Chenchen’s personalities. She asked: "Xiao Jun, where did you go the other day?"
Tang Yue casually asked.
Tang Jun felt a jolt, calmly saying: "Sis, I just went to gather herbs."
"Were you injured?" Tang Yue asked again.
Tang Jun denied it.
Tang Yue continued: "Then why did your brother-in-law look for you? Tang Jun, are you hiding something from me?"
Tang Yue squinted slightly. Even across thousands of miles, she sensed the evasiveness in Tang Jun’s words.
