Chapter 1143: Not Fighting Anymore
Chapter 1143: Chapter 1143: Not Fighting Anymore
"Brother-in-law, are you really not joking?" Lian Qingyang’s face slowly stiffened, and the serious expression on Meng Siyu’s face clearly indicated that he was telling the truth.
Lian Qingyang quickly walked up to Meng Siyu and urgently asked, "Brother-in-law, what’s going on? How did Tang Jun’s eyes go blind? Didn’t he just return to the company after his leave?"
If mom knew that Tang Jun was blind, she would be so heartbroken.
The more Lian Qingyang thought about it, the more anxious he became. He was trying to think of a neurologist, but the more anxious he got, the more his mind went blank, and he couldn’t remember anything.
"It’s a long story, why don’t you make some inquiries first," Meng Siyu said while Lian Qingyang had already started making phone calls, looking for a neurologist.
The first call, of course, was to Lian He. Lian He has considerable influence in Sea City and a wide network.
"Whose eyes are in trouble?" Lian He didn’t answer directly, instead asking a question, mirroring Lian Qingyang’s reaction.
"Dad, don’t ask too much about this for now, just find out quickly and get back to me." Without waiting for a reply, Lian Qingyang hung up the phone and then called Gu Chun, his uncle. Although Gu Chun didn’t seem to have much wealth, he knew a lot of people.
Next, Lian Qingyang made several more calls, and then it was a matter of waiting for information. Anxiously, he asked, "Brother-in-law, hurry up and tell me what’s really going on."
Meng Siyu briefly explained how Tang Jun fell off a cliff and then hit his head in a dark river, which caused a blood clot in his head.
"That kid has always had bad luck. How come he hit his head this time?"
Lian Qingyang mumbled and asked, "Where is he now?"
"He went to the factory with Tang Mingli, so he wouldn’t be alone at home having wild thoughts," Meng Siyu replied.
Yesterday, Yuan Yu said he would stay to take care of Tang Jun, but later, after getting a call from General Yuan, Mr. Yuan, Yuan Yu returned to the Yuan Family and was not with Tang Jun.
"Then I’ll go pick him up now. Uncle is busy anyway." As Lian Qingyang got up, he heard the phone ring.
Soon after, Lian Qingyang received several calls.
The first call was from Lian He, who directly informed him about several neurologists in Jing City and urged Lian Qingyang to take the patient to see a doctor as soon as possible.
The second call was from Gu Chun, who mentioned neurologists not much different from Lian He’s list, but also added a few traditional Chinese medicine practitioners.
Unable to wait for more calls, Lian Qingyang contacted Tang Mingli right away, saying he wanted to take Tang Jun to see a doctor.
"Brother-in-law, do you want to come along?" Lian Qingyang asked.
Meng Siyu nodded, "I have half a day."
Meng Siyu and Lian Qingyang headed directly to Mingyue Clothing Factory, where Lian Qingyang greeted Tang Mingli and took Tang Jun to the car. This was the first time Lian Qingyang saw Tang Jun since his eyes went blind.
Previously, Tang Jun’s eyes were as bright and full of life as Tang Yue’s, but now they were dull and lifeless. Lian Qingyang moved his lips but didn’t know what to say.
Tang Jun swung a fist at Lian Qingyang and said, "Even if I can’t see, I can still beat you."
Lian Qingyang, who had just been feeling sympathetic to Tang Jun, immediately laughed and retorted, "Tang Jun, how about we have a go later?"
"Bring it on, as long as you’re not afraid of losing face," said Tang Jun.
Lian Qingyang huffed, "I just don’t believe you can beat me when you can’t see."
"Brother-in-law, you have to be a witness," Tang Jun immediately said.
Lian Qingyang nodded along, "Yeah, brother-in-law, you have to be a witness."
Meng Siyu glanced at Lian Qingyang and then said, "Okay."
Letting Tang Jun and Lian Qingyang spar a bit might help Tang Jun release some of the frustration in his heart.
In half a day, they visited two neurology experts, who, after reviewing Tang Jun’s scans, suggested that it would depend on luck, reaching the same conclusion as the company hospital had.
"Tang Jun, there are so many doctors in Jing City. And if not, there are other places with doctors too. If we keep looking, with so many famous doctors in Huaxia, there’s bound to be one who can find a way to restore your sight," Lian Qingyang comforted him, holding a stack of doctor profiles, and said, "Look, I have more than a dozen doctors here, we’ll go through them one by one."
"Hmm," Tang Jun responded.
Tang Jun was also eager to heal his eyes. Not to mention anything else, he had his dreams about the company, Xiao Song Camp, he loved the company and couldn’t bear to leave it.
Lian Qingyang put everything aside to accompany Tang Jun for medical consultations all around, and when they returned home, Tang Jun pulled Lian Qingyang aside for a spar.
Initially, Lian Qingyang worried about Tang Jun’s blindness, hesitating as they began.
Soon, Lian Qingyang realized that skill really didn’t have much to do with vision; no wonder those masters on TV could win even without relying on their sight.
"Tang Jun, are you doing this on purpose?" Lian Qingyang exclaimed while being repeatedly struck.
He accepted losing to Meng Siyu, his brother-in-law.
He accepted losing to Bai Qing, to Wu Xin.
Losing to Tang Jun, given he was almost unbeatable in the company, was something he accepted too.
But why was he losing now when Tang Jun couldn’t even see?
Feeling a surge of competitiveness, Lian Qingyang battled fervently with Tang Jun until he panted heavily and admitted defeat.
"No more, no more."
Lian Qingyang lay sprawled on the wooden floor with no image, in a room with a specially-made wooden floor for Chenchen’s dance practice, also a place for Zaozao to hone skills and for the adults to spar.
"I’ve been practicing a lot too! Why am I still so far behind you guys?"
Lian Qingyang felt indignant.
"If you worked harder, you might surpass me," Tang Jun chuckled, his thoughts drifting happily to life at the company.
"Forget it, as long as I can beat regular people, that’s enough."
Lian Qingyang wasn’t too ambitious; with his increasing workload, keeping up with regular exercise was an accomplishment, even though Tang Jun had plenty of time back in school.
While they were talking, Yuan Yu came in.
"Tang Jun, I’ve found a lot of information, come take a look," Yuan Yu entered with documents, immediately seeing Tang Jun and a stranger.
"Who’s that?"
Lian Qingyang looked at Tang Jun for an answer.
Meng Siyu was in the kitchen helping Mo Xiaolin cook, while Zaozao and Chenchen would be brought from the company by Meng Jin, so only Tang Jun and Lian Qingyang were in the living room.
Meng Jin, Zaozao, and Chenchen were almost home, and they hadn’t locked the garden gate since they’d gone out.
"Yuan Yu, the doctor," Tang Jun replied succinctly, surprised Yuan Yu came today.
"Doctor Yuan," Lian Qingyang smiled, eyes landing on Yuan Yu. Although not as pretty as gold, they weren’t too shabby either. He said, "Hello, I’m Lian Qingyang."
