Chapter 1357: Is An Bai Bai Chen?
Chapter 1357: Chapter 1357: Is An Bai Bai Chen?
“Just stay over at my place tonight, what are you in such a hurry for?” Meng Shuqing still had things she wanted to ask Jian Xing, so there was no way she was letting her go now. She said, “You can’t finish the pajamas in one go anyway, so just sleep at my place tonight.”
“But…” Jian Xing’s gaze fell on An Bai beside them. That look of pure disgust on his face, it was like he wished she could disappear on the spot.
“Let’s eat.”
Meng Shuqing said with a squinty smile, and then thanked him, “Thank you, Xiao Bai.”
“I should be thanking you. The pajamas you’re making for me are definitely going to be the best pajamas in the world.” It was like An Bai’s mouth had been smeared with honey, every word sweet. His eyes stayed on Meng Shuqing’s face the whole time, never once moving away, as if Jian Xing didn’t exist at all.
Jian Xing: “…”
It’s not like she wanted to be the third wheel.
Jian Xing simply picked a seat and sat down, focusing all her attention on the food to avoid the public display of affection and them bullying her, a single dog!
“The dishes here are just so good.” Jian Xing praised. She also liked this place; she had been brought here by Meng Shuqing the first time, and after that one visit she completely fell in love with the restaurant.
They were clearly just homestyle dishes, but once they were made in this restaurant, it was like someone had cast Magic on them.
“Eat more.” Meng Shuqing looked at Jian Xing with a squinty smile.
With all that good food in front of them, everyone’s attention was on the dishes. They ate until their stomachs were stuffed. Meng Shuqing rubbed her round belly and couldn’t help saying, “I really shouldn’t have been such a glutton. Ate so much in one go, I’m stuffed.”
“Me too, I’m going to gain another two jin.”
Jian Xing was regretting it as well. While she was eating, everything tasted so good that she just kept going. Only after she finished did she realize her stomach was already way too full.
“You’re both skinny, it’s fine if you put on a bit of weight.” An Bai’s gaze fell on Meng Shuqing’s slender waist. Even after eating, it was still so slim.
“No way. Let’s get to work and burn some of this off.”
Jian Xing stood up and quickly started cleaning up the mess on the table.
Meng Shuqing joined in as well. Even though they’d eaten takeout, it still wasn’t easy to tidy everything up.
With three people working, it didn’t take long for everything to be spotless. Jian Xing pulled Meng Shuqing, planning to go downstairs for a walk. An Bai said, “I’ll be your bodyguard.”
Under the bright moonlight, the dim streetlights stretched their two shadows out long across the ground.
Meng Shuqing and Jian Xing walked shoulder to shoulder, chatting as they strolled. An Bai followed not too close, not too far behind them, not the least bit impatient, looking every bit the devoted bodyguard.
By the time they got back from their walk, it was already nine o’clock. Before dinner, Jian Xing had already learned how to use the electric sewing machine, and when she stepped on the pedal, she could at least sew in a straight line. Once they got home, Meng Shuqing began teaching Jian Xing how to sew together the pieces of fabric she’d already cut.
Whenever they hit a tricky part, Meng Shuqing would lend a hand. By the time the pajamas were done, Jian Xing’s eyes were practically shining. She didn’t even bother to shower; she just grabbed the pajamas and ran off to try them on. The size was neither too big nor too small, just right, a little looser than regular clothes. They were comfortable on the body, but not baggy and sloppy.
“I love it!”
“I actually made my own pajamas.”
“I must be a fashion designer whose talent was wasted!”
Jian Xing was basically praising herself to the heavens. Hearing her, Meng Shuqing couldn’t help but laugh. Being able to make pajamas and being able to design clothes were two completely different things.
“Chenchen, thank you.” Jian Xing took a ton of photos of the pajamas before finally feeling satisfied.
While Jian Xing was busy posing for photos and admiring herself, Meng Shuqing hurried to finish her own pajamas as well. When she’d been cutting the fabric, she made two sets for herself, helped Jian Xing cut one set, and Jian Xing cut one herself—four in total. After Meng Shuqing sewed up the remaining three sets, Jian Xing’s admiration for her hit the ceiling. Just one afternoon plus an evening, and she’d actually finished several sets of pajamas.
Jian Xing examined the pajamas and compared them to the ones she made herself. The stitches on Meng Shuqing’s were neater and straighter, of course, but the ones she made herself…
Jian Xing was still very satisfied.
Late at night, when everything was quiet, Meng Shuqing and Jian Xing lay side by side on the big bed. They couldn’t sleep and kept chatting. Suddenly, Meng Shuqing said, “Jian Xing, how do you think I can find out what a certain person’s game ID is?”
“Take his phone and log into his game account.”
Jian Xing answered offhandedly.
Meng Shuqing frowned, thinking. Getting his phone would be easy, but if she actually logged into the game, wouldn’t she get caught before she even managed to sign in?
“Is there any other way?” Meng Shuqing felt the first method wasn’t very good.
Jian Xing rolled over to face Meng Shuqing. Even though the room was pitch black, as long as she was facing her, it felt like she could see her. She said, “First tell me who this person is.”
“I think it’s An Bai.” Meng Shuqing hadn’t planned on hiding it from her anyway, so she told her about suspecting that Bai Chen might be An Bai.
“What the—!”
Jian Xing shot up from the bed and asked, “Bai Chen is An Bai? That Bai Chen, the number one god of the whole server?”
Since they played the same game, of course she knew how insane this legendary Bai Chen was.
“Actually, it does kind of make sense. ‘An’ Bai’s ‘Bai’, and ‘Bai’ Chen’s ‘Chen.'” Jian Xing asked, “So why do you think that?”
“Wasn’t it just a few days ago? I ran into one of the top-five gods.” Meng Shuqing told her about how she’d been totally crushed by a top-five player a few days ago. She was definitely going to lose, but in the end, An Bai pulled off this smooth, godlike combo and completely wiped the guy out.
“I feel like that definitely wasn’t his first time playing. His operations were way too casual. And among the top five, only this Bai Chen fits best.” Meng Shuqing analyzed.
Jian Xing nodded along and said, “I think so too. But wow, that username is really lazy.”
“If you want to confirm whether he’s Bai Chen or not, there is a way.” Jian Xing suddenly said.
Meng Shuqing quickly asked, “What way?”
“Like, if you lose really badly, you can post on your Moments asking for a pro to carry you!” Jian Xing answered casually. “He likes you, so he’ll definitely reveal his main account.”
Meng Shuqing: “…”
Ask for a pro carry in her Moments?
Wouldn’t her uncle Lian Qingyang laugh her to death?
And Meng Shulang too!
No way, she absolutely could not beg for a pro carry in her Moments.
“If you don’t like that method, there’s another one. You can just ask Bai Chen out to meet.”
Jian Xing still felt that taking his phone and checking was the fastest method.
The two of them chattered on and on about how to figure out if An Bai was actually Bai Chen. In the end, their conversation wandered all over the place. Even Jian Xing ended up sharing a lot about her past—how she once had a crush on a campus god, but in the end he went abroad, and she came alone to Beiyang for university.
They had no idea when they finally drifted off to sleep, all drowsy and muddled.
